Ok, I'm aware it requires alot of planning, programming and debugging, but I think it'd be pretty cool if there was an mmo with elements that encouraged community, social bonds and even competitveness. What I'm picturing in my head would be the case where players, guilds or fair traders, could pull together and put together a town. In most mmo's I've played there's not really much attachment to the surroundings. Example: if someone casts meteo on a town, the town itself ought be damaged as well, buildings, goods. It'd be a change of pace, compared to simply paying currency to maintain anything, people would actually be concerned about the things they put effort into.
My characters spend more time out in forests than in any "home" or inn room, then it might actually feel more like an MMORPG than a cookie cut MMOG.

sounds like youve just described 0.0 alliance warfare in EVE Online minus pointy elf ears.
I can live w/o elves, and I'm less inclined to space mmo's
Yep, sounds like Eve Online.
Love is suppose to do all that stuff you said.
I think I've heard of Love. haven't really looked it up lately, I'll see if it's active.
and to hell with Eve, I'm sick of space -.-
I'm with you; you can keep space! I am still trying to figure out why so many ppl enjoy Eve. It never really did it for me.
hehehe, am not alone ;p tried it 3 times ( months interval ) no luck to get my attention
If anything, FFXI was heaven to me, somewhat spoiled once goldsellers/goldfarmers sank into the servers.
Okl how about this, can anyone suggest an Anime gfx mmorpg that doesn't look or play like it's aimed at the hello kitty players? Why don't they just make something like a Bleach mmorpg? Heck when does DBZ online come out? just tired overall of the gritty-real-as-can-be or Cute-enough-to incinerate-eyeballs games that I see churned out so far.
Well, you might want to take a look at Freerealms after beta. Im testing it right now. It's kinda cutesy but there are a ton of aspects to it that I think ppl will dig, both young and old.
having played EQ2, i got invited to FR beta, it's got enough sugar coated graphics (smiling fairys even) that it comes off outside the line. I'd have to consider it a WoW on 5 candy stores at least. not that the overall is bad, I find the minigames addicting enough to burn down the entire day.
You might be interested in upcoming Mortal Online. It will be a sandbox game with plenty of elements that encourage community. you can sign up for beta.
Eve online.
