This topic is proof that NA/EU players are such spoiled brats. Every MMO or game made in west releases in east after long delays. But all hell breaks loose when a game made in East is delayed for brats in West!
Cry more please, its fun to read all the crying and moaning.

Oh yes, one topic on a MMO board is proof that two entire continents of gamers are spoiled brats. Way to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

And all Asians are gold farmers right? A select few idiots on some forums don't constitute a majority of people who play.

Nope, but it does reflect that most of the players are too spoilt in west. Visit any AION forum and its same crying and complaining. However, people forget to mention that its eastern player who are mostly on receiving end.
I want it now mentality is not that common in Asia.

i didn't mean for it sound like I was whining, and if it did i apologize. I was actually genuinely interested if anyone knew if the date had been pushed back further than Q4. The game is looking great... I have 2 copies on pre-order (one for me and one for my gf) ... and I just wanted to know the status. It's very hard to find any articles on the game further than speculation (especially magazine articles). I'm not complaining, trust me..... this is a game that I know is worth waiting for.
been playing on the chinese server with english file and I rarely see a translation problem, its not even a direct translation since the dialogue is already very amercanish as it is, can't imagine the final version for the US, will be like yo yo bling bling style talk..
Heh, I think this delay is a good thing. It is for almost any MMO.. even though Aion is a more complete MMO. But, have you played the Chinese beta? It is very asian in the way it looks and feels. I would prefer it too have a more western tone to it. If you are a fan of folk lore, lotr, or warcraft.. then having the western look makes games a lot better. I hope they give more options in the different hair styles for example and perhaps make the armor look more western. Just a few examples but theres a lot more they can do.
Plenty of good games should come out before then to hold you over.

I don't agree; I have finally gotten a chance to play and got to lvl 13 assassin so far and let me say this, IT"S AMAZING! This game is not your traditional western mmo ofcourse, but thats because it's not made by a traditional western group so I think we should get over that aspect of this. The character customization is like nothing I have experienced in mmo's before, there is actually a chance that you will NEVER see another character that looks like yours, unlike FFXI and WoW, which are my past two favorite games.
The details in the armor is absolutly fabulous and a definate change from what I'm use to. if they changed the armor to a "more western look" I personaly would find fault in that they would be sticking with the genre or just being copy-cats. Aion is unique, the pvp is extreme and yet I can still use the interface like I did on WoW, I love that. The only thing they are missing is an audio option for my headset lol.
I would not ever compare Aion to WoW thiough, they are two totally different beasts. I still have WoW account (not for long lol) and Aion being as though it's so different gives me a break from WoW so that when I do log back on WoW I still wanna jump on my DK and smash ppls heads in. I personaly do think blizzard will see a decrease in active accounts once Aion rolls around though and thats a sure thing in my case.
And in closing let me say, IT"S NOT GRIND TO LVL, so please before anyone else post to this saying it's a typical asian grind, your in for a REAL shocker. Have fun
They say its taking a long time to localize because they want it to perfectly fit our culture. WTF... I don't care if the cut-scenes are culturally specific, I don't even care if the cut-scenes are in the game at all. I'm trying to play a game here ffs! If I want a soap opera, thats what the idiot box is for! Here's the news: www.aionsource.com/forum/news-announcements/11593-aiononline-com-news-letter-our-fans.html I think it's time to just bite the bullet and do whatever it takes to get on the Korean server now. I don't need to read quest text to swat mobs and PvP in the abyss. Just bring the damn game on already.
Go freeze yourself and we will thaw you out when it releases.

Western games seem to excel at environmental graphics and tank at character models. There's no way you could ever convince me that any western game has better models then what Asian or European designers can provide. The only exception is WoW where the environment and the models actually perfectly match and blend together, and the models themselves are quite nice. Everquest, LotrO, WAR, all leave a lot to be desired in the character model department. Being a fan of folk lore has nothing to do with graphic preference. It is because I am a huge fan or folk lore that I have loved manga since my early teens since a lot of those stories include Asian and Western folk tales, myths and fairy tales.
The hairstyles are all great, more is always appreciated but what you have to start with is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing about the armor, making it western to me is the same as making it boring. Add more variety that's about it.
The localization effort is enormous, with a vast amount of content. Aion is not simply being translated, a team of dedicated content writers are re-creating the written dialogue and content to provide AAA quality and to ensure that it is culturally relevant for our audience. We are going to do this launch "right" rather than fast. I like that...and thats why AION will be a success
I think it will be a success but to a smaller degree than possible with a faster release.
Even if they try to influence fansites like aionsource and others to not overly discuss gamecontent, nothing will prevent people from flodding the net with gameguides etc. which will decrease fun for explorers like me. Especially in a competitive game the people will gather as much information as they can and even if you try to avoid spoilers yourself, others in your groups/guild will most likely know much or all about the content.
Then there are the competitors flodding the market with new games when christmas is nearing and there are some big titles like D3 and SWTOR luring around the corner if not released about the same time. With a release in eg may, competition would be much smaller.
But perhaps they will at least get rid of this big funny rats running around in the towns everywhere
I just thought id like to throw in .. D3 wont be out for years; seeing as starcraft 2 is coming out this fall, why would they release D3 at the same time? and plus, Blizzards new MMORPG will be out after starcraft2, then Diablo 3 ..
Considering that their translating for 3 languages: French, German and English might be of what is taking so long with writing the quest and voices for each language, then doing Q&A checks to ensure no bugs are found then rechecks. So 9-10 months for a delay is a pretty acepptable time table for Aion.
Besides there probly looking to figure an event to kick off the release, maybe kick off more promotions, besides their usual account services and get the preview events off without difficulties. So fall 2009 is not even that far off, people are just gonna have to be very paitent.

The above bold statement is so wrong I won't even go there. besides:
"From the drawing board, Aion was designed to appeal to a global audience--the development team looked closely at games from all across the world and did extensive research on what worked and what didn't. What they decided to do was combine the epic beauty and intricate details of Asian games with the deep storytelling, quest-based systems familiar to Western MMOs."

No, that is how it is for any game released in other countries before they're own. And for the most part it is a select few people who have no patience ...in no way representing the majority from the person's respective country. Posts like these are nothing more than a chance to get in some good nationality bashing.

I cant believe hes actualy complaining about not enough hair styles, is he serious? There are like 50 different styles for females and like 30 for male characters, thats a lot. The western mmos he put in his post doesnt have near as much in hair or in any of the other customization in physical characteristics.

Who ever said that Blizzard are going to domminate q4 should look at their work rate especially the old "soon"
But Im glad it comes out q4 gives me enough time to get a new pc
Hehe, we westerners should get used a little more to standing in the back of the queue.
How long did the Chinese had to wait to be able to play WOW, huh?
Like the wise men and women said; "Patience is a virtue"
Lets hope they do away with the totally crazy differences in size options for characters in the EU/US version.
(Well, at least I do ...)
My brand new bloggity blog.
PLEASE keep the Chinese BETA up and running till Aion is out in NA/EU - that's all I have to say lol.
At least the die hard fans will be in peace on Chinese servers
