Damn that is really bad. I mean, i dont like WoW but no MMO should have to be invaded by bots and farmers. It's a good thing some of those people are trying to stop it before it gets out of hand.

    moral of the story?

    Go on a pvp server.

Anybody who has played pvp will realise that any single player farmers/botters will find it very hard to afk lvl and farm areas... because you got 100-200 alliance (or horde just the other side) fellows walking around and questing in the exact same area.

I dont care if a grandma is playing basically i've seen even the mildest of mannered people go into a rage and HUNT DOWN any Alliance characters that they saw.

I dont care who you are but on a pvp server Alliance vs Horde is pretty much the burning end game. On carebear server you can have tea parties and stuff with opposite side. Not on pvp. Not that id want to either.

So morale of story: Go PVP. The botters will find it ALOT harder to farm there. Even the people paid to farm money will. The most money will be made from lvl 60 areas (gold wise) and them areas will be highly populated.

Just go with this scenario for a second:

1 Lvl 60 Alliance Mage (mage as its probably easiest to lvl as not very gear orientated).

*assuming these guys are playing single player cause farming in groups is pretty pointless*

3-4 Horde lvl 50-60 characters come strolling along and see mr Botter or mr Farmer and go "Hmmm ... KILL TIME!". NExt second the Alliance guy is dead. He then has to walk all the way back to his favourite farming point.

The point im trying to make is that on pvp servers, solo players dont do well out in the 'open' as those players who group come and PWN them. And if it was farming the uncontested areas then it wouldnt get near as much gold as just playing normally through the lvl 50-60 areas.

So.... Go on a pvp server. Where you the player can make a difference from anyone botting/farming. As you can announce it in General chat that you see one of the opposite side farming and then it'll be turned into an event with everyone coming to your help.

God... i wouldn't have it any other way. PVE end game is boring anyways :(. PVP adds that extra element and i bet all the farmers will go to PVE servers

I guess it was unavoidable. An alliance should be formed to agree never to buy anything from e-bay etc. If there is no market for the farmers, they'll give up on it.

Hey Neas, on the PvP server, can Alliance kill Alliance? or is it Horde vs Alliance permanently. I might get WoW for my laptop, seeing how i have a PvP itch to scratch when im not on EQ2. Also... are the PvP servers less crowded than the PvE? Can you recommend a good PvP server for me?

It's the other way around from what I understand. Most people are in it for the PvP, and those servers are packed with people.

In beta PVE was highly populated but it seems that now PVP is twice as populated as PVE.

People like to fight it seems hehe.

Alliance can kill Alliance But only in GUild battlegrounds (which hasnt been implemented yet) or a normal Duel request (you right click on them and select Duel).

    PVP is very slightly complicated.

    Heres rules:

FIrstly there are THREE territory types (applies to both sides):

    1. Alliance Territory (mainly newb areas up to lvl 20 ish)
    2. Horde Territory (Mainly Newb Areas up to lvl 20 ish again)
    3. Contested Territory ( territory which has towns of both alliance and horde in and quests and stuff)

    If you are Alliance:
    1. You cannot be attacked by a horde while in your Alliance Territory. There is one exception to this. If you become PVP-Flagged then you can be attacked while in that territory by horde. To become pvp flagged it lasts for about 15 minutes (your name changes from a dark green to a lighter brighter green). Duelling with a fellow alliance character ALSO pvp flags you so beware hehe.
    2. You CAN attack a horde in your territory (alliance territory). This will flag you as PVP and thus the horde can attack you back... if you dont want to fight dont hit them.
    3. You cannot attack a Horde character IN horde territory (same rules apply for them as you have in your territrories)

    If you are Horde:
1.Same as above but change horde to alliance
    2. Same as above but change horde to alliance etc
    3. " "" " " " "

That deals with the 'newb' areas and main cities and auction houses. The majority of area in WoW will be contested area and in this area you are in open PVP. so both sides can openly attack each other and DO. If you attack someone in this area it still flags you as being involved in pvp. So if you went back to a Alliance (if u alliance) or Horde (if your horde) area you could still be attacked until the flag goes after about 15 mins.

try warsong a cool PVP server with a lot of ppl i like it

  • NeasNeas Member Posts: 887

Yes, but the guards are usually quite hard hehe :P

This usually happens in contested areas as the guards there are more 'beatable'

The Guards in Alliance and Horde Area are generally lvl 60+ (youd need a good party of 4 peeps) to take one down.

In contested area the guards would prob be about 10 lvls higher than what you would be when you enter that area.

I.e Hillsbrad area guards are about lvl 40. so eventually you can do raids against them.

I remember going on a raid with my fellow horde players (about 50-60 of us) and we got to darkshire. We managed to get through the gate killed a merchant or two but the guards just kept spawning. Was great fun tho hehe.

We killed alot of people on the road as well. Soloers mustve had a fright when 60 horde character came thundering down a wooden bridge towards them :P

Before I see a screen-shot I'll label this utter bs. The farmers we're talking about aren't stupid. In WoW they are going to be much more subtle about their business. Depending how you look at it, you can even call these organisations organised crime. Lineage 2 originates from Asia and that is one major reason the Adena farmers found their home on those servers. There will be farming and selling of items and gold on Ebay and other dedicated sites in WoW, but it will get nowhere near Lineage 2, where you couldn't enter some zones in fear of being massacred by a Korean zerg. Yes, the farmers of Lineage 2 were mostly Korean, not Chinese, no matter what you may think.

  • metalfoxusmetalfoxus Member Posts: 805

Who cares if its Eskimos doing it? The point is that people are farming and it could seriously ruin alot of things.

farming is more difficult when whoever lands the first blow gets the mob, and it's not that mobs are that easy that you can get more than 1 at once(unless you've got all the farmer's family with you... and since the spawning of the area is dynamic (tied to how many ppl are in the said area)) well I'm not really sure about how things will turn, but this system isn't really helpful for farmers, I don't know what else could they do.

  • Lill-TrollLill-Troll Member Posts: 230
It's really not the farmwers that's the real prob. It's the idiots that buy from them and thus creates a market for farming...

Farming is a REAL problem because there will always be idiots. Trust me, one of my close friends has bought Adena on eBay for a sum of money I will not mention as not to embarrass him.

If a farmer/bot can be verified, I feel that severe action should be taken on Blizzard's part.

I don't have a problem with people outside of the US playing the game, and I think it is horribly racist and stereotypical to say that ONLY chinese or asians are farmers. My brother did it in Diablo II, I did it in EverQuest, neither of us are Asian.

But WoW isn't open PVP.  What could that chinese farmer do to you?  Keep spamming RANG RANG over and over again to you?  Ignore him, start killing everything that's around him to p1ss him off.

I've learned a lot of things to keep yourself safe from people like this.  Since they can't speak english, just send them tones of private messages like:

"Hey stop stealing my creatures" or "I was here first, I can't believe you're taking my spot"

It's funny to see them not reply back or write stuff like: "FU" or "NOOB" ... they can never carry on a conversation.  And if they report you, or you decide to report them, you can totally screw them over making it seem like they were stealing the spot from you, when it was really you in the first place. :)

It's good to be evil... but when you think about it, who are the real "evil" ones?

I never implied that all farmers were Asian. I just stated a well known fact, which is that most of the organised farming groups originate from Korea.

Yuck, it reminds me of Project Entropia. People will pay up towards 10.000 USD for certain items image If you're not familiar with PE, it uses a "real" economy. Eg, you put in Dollars to get PED (1/10 ratio) The game is supposedly "free" wich is true when it comes to DL and playing (No monthly fees). Only thing is you have nothing when you start, so you'll likely need to deposit to get anywhere. In the end it'll become the most expensive MMO you've played. The main reason they implemented the "real" economy was to avoid people selling stuff at E-bay and such places, but instead of having the economics ruined by farmer people sellling stuff there, the economy was ruined by the players in general pushing prices in game Auctions.

The Avatar and Gamesystems are among the best I've ever seen in any game, but the community greed, the insane prices and lack of content made me quit. (Not to mention all the un-resolved bug's that'll make you loose money) If you're real lucky (Or some claim smart) you can make money and withdraw, I heard rumours of people actually living on PE and withdrawing 10-25k $ / Month
