So true Johnark, I used Gatekeeper to modifie my character in Baldur's Gate/TotSC after I had finished it the first time, things got real boring real quick. Only times I cheat now is when testing maps I created for Starcraft/Warcraft to see what needs to be improved in terms of of resources and Doodads options.

You can do anything with a bot.. farming mobs of course, fishing, crafting, etc.

I don't think it will be as big of a problem as in some other games, like Lineage 2, simply because the grind is fast, and money isn't as important. I even used a bot for a couplelevels in Lineage 2... the grind was so long and boring that I just couldn't take it anymore, but I was so anxious to get to the endgame for PvP(I started using bots at ~level 35, quit the game at 37... I couldn't make it :P ).

ok, no more D2 analogies please, remember that WoW is not D2, in any sense (well both are RPG's, that's all).

Just basically a reiteration of what has already been said really:

Having played WoW I can see how pointless a bot would be in this game, the classes I play like mages for example get killed really easily. A bot wouldn't be much use as killing easy things gains little advantage and for a macro thing to take control of a character and be able to pick off one hard mob at a time etc for hours? I dont think so.  In my experience in game the best way to level I found was to do quests, can a bot do a quest for you? It can kill the monsters I guess but again they are often hard and the worthwhile ones you need to be in a group anyway.  Can a bot find a set of so and so tools for you? I dont think so and again that often involves killing nasty things.  It can fish for you I guess and thats the only real viable thing, crafting ingame is easy anyway you dont need a bot for it a bot wouldn't gain any advantage unless you could set it to find materials for you aswell.

As was said before gold, silver etc isn't that big of an issue in WoW as a mage I found I only needed gold for the skills and then I always had plenty by the time I got to the level I needed to get them.

Using a bot to get you to lvl 60 would be a bloody hard job unless you sat with it and watched it and then you may aswell play yourself right? Personally I'm not worried about Bots I'm sure Blizzard will do something about them and I can't see them being that large an advantage anyway.

As for speedhacks and such, they'll be extinguished more or less straight away there are always exploits, few people know about them and these people will more than likely quit as soon as they can't cheat anymore else be banned for using them.  MMORPG's are getting better and in my opinion having played most I think WoW is the best out there, I trust in Blizzard to deliver (as they have with the game) in killing off the cheaters and exploiters I have full faith that they will.

    Just my few pence worth.

Did I say that WoW was D2? I was only stating that all of Blizzard's games have loads of hacks. I also included WC3 which isn't a RPG.

Using these hacks is lame, anyone who has used a hack or is using a hack is lame in my opinion - completely lame.

You sir are completely lame for using these. This completely ruins the gameplay. fun of discovery, competitiveness... It's just stupid. To bad you don't have the skills to play the game yourself....

People with no skills that rely on this type of BS really piss me off.

    Doesn't matter to me.

All I need to do is have fun, not be L337

And I am having a LOT of fun.

When i took my first flight (and only from Ogrimar to Crossroads) I was just astonished.

My hats off to Blizzard, bugs/bots/hacks and all.

the funny part is stuff like this and items for sale on ebay and other sites are a perfect simulation of the effect a black market can have on a stable economy, just like real life.  You know yer playing too much when you care more about the in-game economy than your countries economy image
