Someone just needs to make another Matrix MMORPG. A Matrix-oriented MMORPG should be the "ultimate" MMORPG, hands down. This game should be kicking ass, but instead; it was half-assed.
I think you hit the nail on the head i love the matrix but after years of being in this game i had to quit now if i want a good matrix game i play crackdown. Sad that that game feel more like the matrix than the matrix.
For Zeroone since he has some problems with english.
end of the year-beginning of next year is not august or september.
as for the rollback issues what do you expect with no team to test each patch before launch.
Well yea, when I wrote that part with the "two months", I hadn't looked at this thread for weeks, so I just thought at that time you had said "in two months", then I looked up and saw it was actually "in a few months", and then saw that "end of the year" in your original post.
As you see, this has nothing to do with English in particular, rather reading comprehension and memory.
Wow, I can't believe I could just turn my own mistake into a rebuttal of your point. I rule.
Actually, I didn't mean the rollback, I meant the servers being inaccessible and stuff. People on the forums were saying "lol we can't enter the game for days now" or something, and I jokingly thought, hey, d00m time maybe?
I don't exactly know what to expect from the absence of such a team, I know this is the first time something like this happens.
I think it is the first rollback and I feel sorry for those who lost items and experience. But it is no secret that each update comes with its share of bugs and trouble. In any decent game they have people testing extensively before a release, obviously it is not the case with mxo.
Im not going to pretend to know how many subs this game needs to turn a profit but I would assume it must to still be around. MXO closing down probably would not open the doors for a new Matrix MMO. Who would want to risk money on something that has proven itself to fail? Yes I know its the games fault not the IP but the people making those calls probably wont see it that way. Im glad MXO is still going. Its not going strong but for the people that do play it and enjoy it the fact that it still exsists is a good thing. Enjoy it while you can.
It's not the first rollback unfortunately. It's too bad MXO doesn't have the staff to pull off patches and updates let alone significantly progress the game.
But...

Friends, hope for a better tomorrow? A better question is, why don't you play if you enjoy it so much?

Hmm, must have happened during Beta (no, not the extended beta lol), or under Monolith. I don't remember any such uproar since I've joined.
I dunno, I often remember basically forcing myself to play through horrible bucking (I know it was partially due to my computer and partially due to server demerits, but we're talking about subjective experience anyway) and ugly animation off-setting because I was interested mission contents and similar, and often still noting some things I'd think weren't really optimal.
So yea, that you play doesn't mean you really enjoy it. There were moments I enjoyed it, though.
And, uh, freiheit, unless you've hired your buddies to /ca cloudwolf and supervise his logging on, how exactly can you know that he doesn't play? I must've forgotten him saying that.
And there again you go making moronical assumptions. I mean this nicely - just sit back and ask yourself, maybe if you have to make up stuff to get your point across, your point isn't that good in the first place?
Oh wait, that's right, this is about polemics. My bad, sorry.

Yes it was under Monolith. He said he hasn't hit 50 but has been playing for two years, logic dictates that he never logs in. Or did you forget that? This is where you apologize.
It's like having a gym membership, never going, and telling people "I work out at X Gym all the time. But I'm still way out of shape..."
By his definition of "playing" I'm an official member of the New York Yankees. I mean, I have tickets to the stadium and a hat right!
Um, when he asked why one would play without enjoying the game, you said "friends?". So yea, friends. Maybe he was pvping and dueling, which we all know doesn't lvl up.... who knows?
Then, you can even play once a week and still "enjoy" it.
Actually, I apologize, I shouldn't have dwelled into this discussion at all. None of us knows shit about how much of how often someone else plays unless told by themselves, so I guess I won't start making the same stupid assumptions.
Btw, I haven't played for, like, two months now. Except I logged in before the last update to run through the red tinted city, which rocked. But there, you have it.

(fyi chit chating for a few minutes in game is not playing also, LOL lowbie pvp. We both know this isn't the case, or maybe you're just naive)

(try using common sense, it works wonders)

Not even coming close to hitting the level cap...in OVER two years = not playing. When you play, you do things, these "things" cause your character to gain "experience." After a certin amount is gathered through, "DOING THINGS" a player levels. It is nearly impossible to "play" and not level. Especially in several years of..."play." Sorry if that doesn't sit well with you but it's how it goes. Don't you think that if the game was as great as he makes it out to be, he would log and and play with his friends? Or have they all been sitting at a hardline for two years chit chatting?
It's a rhetorical question.
"Hey guys we have to try this MMO out, you like...sit sround a telephone booth and talk about the Matrix!"
But at least in somone's mind I'm a NY Yankee and for that, I thank you guys.
Um well, I leveled from like 25 to 50 only by doing contact/archive/PB missions (at a slow rate). At the time my main was 25, I was parallelly levelling two other alts.
And again, although I didn't do that, talking (or even fighting) at live events and simply pvping/dueling DOES NOT give you experience.
And at the end of the day, if I don't play, I simply stay at level 2. So at any rate, it should be "why do you play it so little" rather than "why don't you play it".
You do make sense, but there were these few things I wanted to have pointed out.
At least you admit that all new "content" is just doing the same missions and farming with different text on the screen and different rewards.
You wanted to compare about MMO's. I have played mmorpg for years (EQ EQ2 neocron anarchy online swg wow gw coh cov vanguard dark and light and many others) I can make a list of things mxo will never see, I dont even need to mention expansions.
(player housing, vehicles, pvp honor system, territory control, proper crafting better than getting codebits and clicking a button, politics...)
Just have a look at swg or even wow and you know what content is.
Why it hasnt shut a year ago? Because there were much more subscribers last year. It would be foolish to thik that expensive servers and staff will be kept at a loss to please the remaining players - yes all 5 of you -
Having said that, my source is reliable. Don't hold your breath for mxo.
it only has 3 servers right?
it would behoove SOE to keep mxo going so as to have a wider variety/catalogue to advertise in it's station pass. this gives soe another strong IP (matrix and star wars) and is a game outside of the rank-and-file fantasy genre.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

But all is not Doom and gloom after all
There are not many games that add new content in a patch and don't have to release a bug fix straight after.
I can't think of one.
Don't get me wrong, I love to knock MXO at least as much as the next one, I think it is an extremely low quality game, but content patches on all and any games of any genre are buggy. Goes with the territory.
Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft even the maximum budgeted flagship titles have this problem.

Playing: Everthing
Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.
Yes, that's right, most patches released so far had delays and bugs. One time, it was so broken you couldn't even do missions. Now this.

the sky is falling!
No one cares, but just a lesson for the future:
Next time someone comes to you and claims to have some "reliable source in there" knowing when some game's gonna end or shit - DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS.
Sure it's ending, but like 6 months later than prophesized.
But yea - no one cares.
