Halo: 28.4 million copies sold in the Halo franchise. 96%, 94% and 93% for the three core games on Metacritic. Even the console RTS got an 82% and is the best selling console RTS to date.
Tony Hawk/Skating Games: THPS 2 is the third highest rated game ever on Metacritic. THPS3 is one of only 6 games, ever, to receive a 10/10 from GameSpot. While the newer titles have met with mixed reviews they still sell very well.
MGS4: 94% rating on Metacritic. 476,334 copies sold in its first 4 days. Shipped over 3 million copies to date.
Crackdown 2: 83/100 rating on Metacritic. It sold over 1.5 million copies.
It’s nice to meet someone who really has their finger on the pulse of gamers man.
Is this when Microsoft unveils the T-800 to destroy and/or enslave the human race?
I for one welcome our new killer robot overlords.
So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.
I'm a bit mixed on the Tony Hawk thing. I'm not surprised they came up with this considering that Activisions success with Guitar Hero 3. peripherals sell a lot of copies. While Guitar Hero did a pretty good job at making you feel like you're playing a guitar, I don't think that Skateboard is going to have the same effect. You just don't get the "feedback" when you're on such a board and i don't think the intention is to jump on it or with it. you need quite a bit of room for it as well. The rest of the Press Conference was great, they showed some great new gameplay footage and announced a good amount of new games.
Sorry to bring up old news, but I thought I would add that it is clear Tony Hawk is a dead genre, but of course being an attention monger he's going to do everything he can to keep it on him, trying to steal it back from Skate and the other more realistic titles.
Oh, and to to say that perphrials do sell something fierce a friend of mine got the wii fit, the wii steering wheel, the wii guitar, and the wii gun thing. The only thing I can hope comes out of a skateboard perphrial, is a really good snowboarding game, something I haven't seen recently.
