returning to wow on rp server -- makes it a different game?

TorgozoTorgozo Member Posts: 25

Every game I try after WoW -- WAR, EQ2, GW -- winds up dissapointing, because none of it feels as immersive as those old days did in WoW.   WoW in the old days felt wonderufl because of all the communication going on, people helping each other, discussing stuff, lore, whatever.  Exploring.  Now everyone is so jaded it doesnt feel real it feels like a job where everyone talks in code.

But maybe what I'm looking for is juts Wow on an RP server?  Any thoughts on this?  Or server reccomendations?

Played WOW for over two years. I did start one toon on a RP server just to find nobody RP's. Perhaps i didnt give it enough time but dont expect what you find on Antonia Bayle in EQ2 or Landroval in LOTRO.

Antonia Bayle on EQ2 was the server I did my trial on.   the 1-9 chat was mostly ignorant people bashing Obama and immigration, so I was like "pass no thanks!"  The game seems great but couldn't get past the outdated interface or the ugly graphics.

My wife and I recently tranfered our characters to one of the newer RP servers and we've been happy with the level of RP and general "nice" atmosphere that we've found ( my wife plays WOW everyday where I jump more from game to game....but the better server quality is refreshing   ) .

So just start some new characters on the various RP servers and listen and look around on each of them, you'll find one to your liking eventually.

My first 2 and a half years of WoW were spent on Argent Dawn, a pretty old RP server.  I eventually switched to Azjol Nerub, a Normal Server.  When I started in Argent Dawn at release, it was pretty cool, like you mention.. but in the end, the switch from Argent Dawn to Azjol was almost like switching to the same server.

The only time I play WoW now is using new characters on low population new RP servers.  Those have the best atmosphere.  But that atmosphere doesn't last long, as hardcore raid guilds flood over and fill the server with their bad attitudes, price inflation, and channel trash talk.

Yes i agree, the lower levels were the best. I had several toons for that reason. Dun Morogh was my favorite world in the whole game.
