I'm looking for an MMO to relax and kill time in

I like to pvp in an mmo and i don't really like raiding

I like complex skill systems not the dumbed down WoW system

I prefer sci-fi unless the fantasy game is really good

I don't mind the level system as long as it's fun

i've played AoC, WAR, EQ, EQ2, Guild Wars, WoW

I like having to choose between group and solo play (I don't want to be forced to group)

Maybe EVE, but it's not gonna be easy to learn.

MMORPG.COM has worst forum editor ever exists

The Chronicles of Spellborn  seems like a game you'd like. P2P mmo, uses a skill deck, manual aiming, fun, don't have to group, there's PvP (skill based PvP from what I hear) - you should try it www.tcos.com

i like Eve on paper but i know i won't like it in game because all you do is fly around in space

the environments dont really change much in Eve right?

    I suggest you try Ryzom:

    pro:

    complex harvesting + crafting

    complex skill trees (very individual)

not so ordinary setting, mix between fantasy and scifi

3 Weeks free trial available, after that its rather cheap

    con

    low but friendly community

    graphics outdated

If is "fremium" (close to P2P).

What does that mens is : the games it's free until level 9.9 for unlimited time.

If you want to advance beyond that level (9.9) you have to pay monthly fee.

i thought it said on the homepage that 9.9  was the max level?

but i guess i might as well try that game since you're not limited in any way until 9.9 :D

9.9 is the max level is you play the game for free.

The level cap is 50 (I think).

But, take care, this game is different from other MMO's.

For one, you relay have to read the quest text to see what you have to do.

And for second is the skills/deck/aim system that is different.

and i don't mind having to have to actually explore a world if it actually looks interesting

     That is up to you.

Download the game, try it and you'll see.

For me, it took a while to accomodate to that, to make the combo's work.

I suggest u try City of Hero,

The max level in this game is level 50 and i could get to in fastest of 5 days. COH dont really have raiding often but it your choice if u go or not, idk about skill system but it seem pretty good to me. COH is a awesome game to pvp if u like, there is different kind of pvp and level range. the trial is only for 14 day i dont recommend doing trial cuz they dont enable Broacast which u use to find a team/party. it will be really hard to play without the Broacast.

I've played CoH in the past and it's fun for a bit but then gets old

I think I'll wait for Champions Online or DC Universe

Id suggest to you Atlantica Online. Its a stratagy based game with 120 levels of fun. Its relaxing, fun, requires skill, has free leagues for PVP since its a turnbased game, it has a grand champion chip, and it also has Gonzoo World. The PVE in the game is fun and has many quests and guild dungeons if your into that stuff.

Over all its a f2p game and will let you enjoy your self. I gave it a 4.5/5 star rating.

This game I have in mind......

    1. Almost never raiding

    2. awesome skill system and combat system

    3. really good fantasy

    4. 275 levels(takes you long time to get there)

    5. Never have to group at all.

Its bit old but it has everything u are looking for.

The game is Asheron's Call.  There is pvp server called Darktide... go try it out... free-trial it.
