Reasons (which I actually provide to validate my OPINION, unlike you):
Dark Knight's action was there to further along the story. It actually served a purpose. While Transformers 2's action was just there to be there. Not all of it was mind you, but I found quite a bit of the action was quite useless.
Too much slap-stick humor that really took away from the story's appeal in Transformers 2. I mean, why in the hell do we need to see 2 dogs humping, a mini decepticon humping Megan Fox's leg, and a drugged up mother embarrassing her child? That was a major turn off for me of this movie as it was just thrown in there for kicks rather than actually being part of the story. Didn't have any of that outlandish crap with Dark Knight. The humor was much more subtle, as in not in your face all the time like Transformers 2's humor was. Disgraceful.
Lots of fluff in Transformers 2 to make the movie longer. It actually was a bit too long due to all this stuff (in your face humor, action that served no purpose except as a filler). Dark Knight was long as well. However, I never felt that it was too long. The story flowed constantly and was coherent. It never felt as if there were fillers in the movie to make it longer.
Again, this is just my OPINION. Personally, I thought Transformers 2 was a decent movie. Nothing I'll go and buy though, but a decent movie none-the-less. However, I'm not delusional enough to think that it was anywhere near the caliber of Dark Knight.
I watched the Dark knight but didn't see what was special about it, Begins was much better. Same as all the people complaining about Transformers and that saying how it ruins it......... no theres lots of action with hot babes how could it get any better?
I thought Transformers 2 was downright awful, I wanted my money back. It was at most 30 minutes of plot filled with loud obnoxious special effects for the next 110 minutes. The script seemed like it was a meant to be a serial novel and the anti-arab sub text was repugnant. I guess it will entertain anybody under the age of 12. Comparing The Dark Night and Transformers 2 is borderline retarded behavior.

The Dark Knight was just not the film for you, then.
Try watching it again, you might catch on to why it's a brilliant piece of cinema.
Transformers 2 was a ridiculous movie. I remember one scene where they're driving in the middle of the desert, and all of sudden one of them exclaims 'shit, it's the cops!' and they're suddenly driving on the fringes of a city on the middle of the road with two cop cars behind them. Following a small cop chase in the city afterwards served no other purpose than to show the female lead in Burqa. That was a ridiculous scene and served no purpose. The movie had tons of filler which made little sense, if any.
Obivously the people in this thread who didn't like the movie forgot to "leave their brains at home" and just sit back and enjoy the movie for what it is. It's a kids movie folks, it's a movie based off a cartoon. It's not meant to be taken seriosuly or be this epic drama you naysayers of the film were expecting. The movie did what it was suppose to do, entertain and excite, end of STORY!!!!

Really? I guess that accounts for all the sexual themes (dogs humping, robot humping Megan Fox's leg, the human-like decepticon trying to get it on with the the main character). Or, the excessive use of the words, "Sh*t, P*ssy, D*mnit" and others that I've probably missed. Or the excessive use of robot-obliterating "gore" (like when Optimus ripped that decepticon's face in half, or when Bumblebee tore the spinal cord out of the cat-like decepticon).
Yeah... children's movie my ass. It was more like it was specifically aimed at young teens to young adult males who have the brain power of a fracking squirrle (and I'm being generous on that description), which seems to be the theme of the majority of movies now-a-days. If it was truly based off the cartoon, then all of this crap wouldn't have been included (no sexual themes, curse words, or robot "gore") or masked well enough that only adults would have gotten them (Shrek for example). But, no, all these pre-pubescent crap was explicit enough that anyone could've gotten the meanings. It'd be interesting for parents to try to explain away why the robot was humping Megan Fox's leg, or why the two dogs were humping, or what the human decepticon was trying to do with the main character. Again, children's movie my ass.

So what if it's a children's movie or not? I watched chicken run and shark tale a few months ago and thought they're great films. And those are 2 bang on kids films. Ok, fair enough T2 isn't a full on animated film like the 2 I mentioned which means they have to spend sh*t loads more cash on CGI and paying Megan Fox. So I'm not blaming the film makers for producing a film which you don't know wtf is going on half the time, it's a cool film to watch, but it does lack a more decent storyline.
Oh and the movie isn't based of a cartoon, it's based of toys created by Hasbro.
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
Once again, you guys are thinking WAAAAY too much into this. Like I said before this is the kind of movie where you leave your brain at home and just sit back and enjoy the movie for what it is. If you all were expecting to see a deep philosophical movie or an inspirational drama worthy of an Oscar or an Academy Award, than I am sorry to say, you came in with the wrong expectations. Folks, this is a movie based off of toys, it's just a silly little cartoon design to be watched by kids and teens. It is suppose to be a summer blockbuster for the masses, it doesn't need to be complex and have any depth for it to be enjoyable.
I have a feeling that there'll be a 3rd movie, it's made over $200 million in NA, and in total almost $300 million if you factor in the foreign box office.
Toxilium, Airspell, please stop trolling this thread. If you continue this line of action I will be forced to take off my belt and....well....I think you two know the rest of the story....

We wear belts for a reason.
Transformers and The Dark Knight are barely in the same genre, they're on complete opposite ends of the action spectrum. Comparing them is like comparing Chuck to 24. Transformers is fairly light hearted action-fare with lots of big explosions and Megan Fox's breasts as a main character; Dark Knight is cold and dark, it's gritty enough to feel like the damned Frank Miller version.
That Chuck analogy feels half baked, I barely know anything about either of those shows. Anyway, Transformers wasn't a bad film, but it's not the same kind of film as Dark Knight, so it's not a particularly good comparision.
I saw the first Transformers. Felt like Con Air or The Rock with Transformers! I'll catch the 2cd one on blu-ray on Netflix.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Actually, reading this thread has made me think about T2 and you know what. I don't even think T2 is good anymore, it's quite sh*t as we've already been wowed by the first film's CGI, the second film just has more explosions.
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
Dark Knight > Transformer 2. The storyline in Transformer 2 is terrible and the ending was horrible. It only lasted like 1 minute between Prime and MegaTron. But Transformer 2 is worth watching because there are more actions then Transformer 1 and that's what fans wants to see in an movie. What I like overall about Dark Knight is everything lol the graphics, the storyline, the action, and most of all the acting

I'm glad you explained why you think Transformers 2 is better than The Dark Knight.

Does this explain it?

On Time? On Target? Never Quit?
Who wouldn't want to hump Megan Fox's leg..?!
Yes... well... <clears throat>... that's besides the point. It still just felt thrown in there just to add some humor, no matter how tasteless.
The Dark Knight was just not the film for you, then.

CapTroll lives up to his name. Should have gone for Uwe Bol > Spielberg
