Yeah the mech assault games werent good, they were arcadish.
So far they said PC and 360 and it looks like they are staying true to the gameplay of the last games (Mw 3 and 4).If you read the interview they say the graphics are from ingame footage.Should be pretty good

Nice! But, I guess I need to complain. Is a destructible environment to much to ask for? A parking garage can take only so much missle fire.

I've been playing since Mechwarrior 1 on my 486. Locust Ninja FTW! I could take down Battlemaster's with the right spec. Get so close to them that they can't bend down to shoot you and ram their legs till they fall over lol.

What? That jenner at the start of the fight landed ontop of the building but the Warhammer (point of view) shot SRMs at it and took out the building and the jenner fell into the rubble. That's where all the dust and smoke came from. Hope that answers your question! lol

I've never really understood the whole mech thing. Sure it looks pretty, but it also looks rather boring to me. If they mix these in with standard infantry FPS or tank/jeep/plane/chopper FPS I'd be more interested.

I was just looking at the Warhammer's constant hiding behind the parking garage for cover without the thing falling. I hope I am wrong. But, hey, that's my only gripe. Nothing is perfect!

one... if it IS in game footage, then the camera changing to external cinimatic mode is BAD BAD BAD... that's no way to win a game.
I call this pre rendered. not game footage... UNLESS ... they simply took game footage and then enhanced it with external cameras to make it a good video... then i call MECH WARRIOR FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!

You may have noticed the OP edited his post after I said that. He also edited his second post that originally stated "Oops. Wrong video." I was also irritated that it was his second thread start about exactly the same subject within a few hours of each other.
It also doesn't help my attitude about it but I was lousy at the game. I had a great deal of difficulty watching a split screen depiction of moving in one direction on the bottom and tracking in another direction in the top of the screen. With a keyboard for control.
That is so weird. I just found my copy of MechCommander like 3 days ago. I was so excited. And then this!

It's not MW5, i'ts just "Mechwarrior"
They are restarting the franchise and resetting the IP from the clean slate. Basically the older mechwarrior installment are so old that they are not worthy to be apart of this one's progression in naming. So basically, this is the new "Mech warrior 1", and if they ever make newer ones after this, it will be MW2 and so on.
1: When the mech jumpjetted onto the building the windows shattered.
2: When he shot misciles at the mech on the roof, the entire roof colapses, hence the giant dust cloud. The other mech just sucked.
That's what everyone says when they watch 200 ton heavy mechs fight. Hell a heavy mech just smashed into my roof a second ago and I was like, LAaaaaame.... Once they throw in the 60-120ton mechs and have the run 8x faster and the medium mechs which as still 4x faster than the heavies in this vid. Do you still think it will look so slow? The mechs on this vid are basically your leg jointed altilery.

Well most of the battletech/mechwarrior community is referring to it as Mechwarrior 3015. But yeah it is the first in the new series essentially making it Mechwarrior 1. Cheers
I thought the Xbox version was MW5.
Best news I've had all week I'm a big fan of the Mechwarrior games. Glad to see they have been uncanned.
I hope the gameplay turns out to be true to the trailer. Sim plus first person. And I hope the GFX are on a similar par to that CGI, although that won't be a deal breaker for me if they aren't.
I believe it will be a good arction game, but I have doubts that it will have depth and perhaps replay value. Given that the game will be designed for consoles, following conventional game publishing process, and from the interview, it will not be a detailed game or simulator. That Co-Op of up to 4 players bugs me as it may also imply to multiplay or only up to 4 vs 4.
Good graphics and effects, but sophesticated game mechanics is not going to be a priority.
