How the mighty have fallen

erikk3189erikk3189 Member Posts: 306

Yes, how wow has fallen on its face no-less.

Upon visiting an old friend I saw he still had time on wow being he cancelled the account  much as I had done months ago. So I deecided to go in and take a look-see to see if it was true that many people have left. Yes It's true.

First off, when I logged in to one of my old accounts, an 80 dk, it said words like, "so and so is no longer here or so and so no longer exists. These were people I had played with and even some I had muted who have left.  Quite a long list of players no longer there. I then went to stormwind, a place with many players lounged about and the crowd there, if you want to call it a crowd was non-existence.  I admit its not like swg where there is no one there, there are players there, but nothing and I mean nothing like it used to be. all over the population has dwindled down a lot.

Seems this once indestructible game is no longer as strong as it once was. Good for them. I'm glad. I quit cause I was sick and tired of the constant nerfs and many unnecessary changes. It's all they do. And the thing is the devs are so damn stupid they still keep doing the same thing. You haven't gotten used to the new changes when they're making new ones to the same classes and even the professions.

I know the games fanbois will make excuses and defenses saying its not true but no matter what the proof is in the pudding as they say. Just login and you'll see it yourself. This is why now they're lowering the mount level and why they're adding some of the changes they should of long ago, to pull players back in. Won't work!

Nothing lasts forever.

poor troll post, please do better next time, if a player is not logged on at the time it will also say "[player] does not exisit" does not mean they have quit.. just they are not online at that time.

Hate WoW all you like, but having to make stuff up.. you must be bored.

Yes but they did not quit WoW. Their servers got shut down. There is a difference.

Well... the net result is the same nonetheless lol.

Note to the OP - for everyone of your friends that quit, two more players joined the game that you don't know to take their place.

The game is doing *just* fine!

To say sub numbers don't mean anything is stupid.. thats like saying you dont need bank accounts to run a bank.

  • NicksdNicksd Member Posts: 403

Just because a game has less subs, doesn't mean it is less of a game. That was my point in the phrase. I personally have played games with a fraction of WoW's that are a lot better. They will be just fine with 5 mill. subs as far has money goes.

  • ZebladeZeblade Member UncommonPosts: 931

lol 6mil gone.. ok but how cute is it that he left out WHY .. the reason for CHINA not playing wow for... well CANT play .. what its been a month now.. LMAO. OLD NEWS>.  Dont worry they will be back soon when Blizzard fixes it..

Yep and AION had nothing to do with it.

And what is this DEAD server you are playing on? Were SW is dead?

So when Aion comes out.. I log in.. city empty.. OMG where did everyone go??

Anyway.. nice try.. I like how you see a troll post and that = a fan?wow ok.. oops I said wow.. I'm a FANBOY!

Why would you go to Stormwind to see if WoW is populated? Wouldn't you go to dalaran instead?

  • HydrakanaHydrakana Member Posts: 160

You do realise that 'player no longer exists' also applies to people who transfer off the server?  In nearly every case, when people quit wow, they don't go and delete their characters, they just cancel their subscription.....'player no longer exists' does not apply here as the toon is still there.

It's just a simple server transfer, not people quitting.  Stop and use logic.

First off, blatant anti-WoW troll... good job jumping on the bandwagon. You are now officially one of the cool kids, congratulations.

Secondly, Stormwind, really? Try Dalaran... that's where most people congregate since WotLK launched, or maybe even Ironforge. Figuring that you have an 80 DK you should probably know that. I for one find the main cities full on my server, especially Dalaran. I haven't noticed a dropoff in population at all. If anything it's gotten more crowded...

Another fail Anti-WoW troll. The Chinese government would not allow the company to license the new expansion and thus people quit en-mass because they froze their servers.

World of Warcraft itself nor Blizzard Entertainment have fallen because of losing pay-by-hour clients that China provided. 14.99 from American and European subs is where the real money is.

So a game rises and falls based on how many people still exist on your friend list and how many people you see running around in a city?

Seriously brah, you mad? (not trying to insult you, that really is a serious question)

You mean Dala-lag, right? As in lag city. Been there, done that. Place wasn't as full as in months back.  Actually, I went to all the major cities and all were down. By the way Arathor is the realm.

And for your info, I have 4 level 80's  while grand mastering 11 professons. It's not like I'm as new as some of you guys.

Apparently, you guys have not been reading threads in this same forum or in other websites. If you did you'd know  wow's population has gone down.  And I'm not refering to any other country but this one, USA. Or maybe you just don't want to believe what you see or read. Either way, it makes no difference cause in the end what you think or what you believe matters not.

Wow, please tell me you aren't that retarded.  If their 'server got shut down', how were you logging on to that SAME SERVER, and seeing that their characters no longer existed?

The stupidity of the human race continues to astound me daily.

Anyway i am gonna totally agree with you and say that were all ignorant and you are not a self righteous prick, but unfortunately, what i think and believe matters not. =(

I am going to take a guess in that the mod edited the post I quoted before you read it? The post by coffee had little to do with what Mwaji posted, and I was talking to Mwaji.

My eyes are wide open. I just returned to WoW 3 days ago after about a 6 month leave. I play on Argent Dawn, Tanaris and my mains are on Malfurion.  WoW looks as full and active as it always has. I played since beta and needed a break, so I left for a bit. On my servers and from my experience WoW is alive and doing just fine, players everywhere. I am glad to be back. After a break it feels fresh and fun again. I looked at the severs and many where full and heavy. The rest were medium just as they always have been.

The OP tells people to open their eyes. I wonder why he cares? He does not play the game anymore. Seems a waste of time starting threads in forums of games you do not play anymore. Might have a little problem moving on. This is really a boohoo they changed the game so I left and like a mad little kid I am going to kick Blizzard in the shin thread. He's opinion "matters not" since WOW is alive and well. Topping the list of MMOs with 500+ million in revenues for 2008. Over 500 million dollars, if that is the sound of the mighty falling they must have fallen on pure gold pillows, because I have not heard a thud! Hmmm "be ignorant all your lives" comes to mind when reading a post like this and so does the following picture.

Unless someone from Blizzard shows you their subscription history, you have no way of knowing what their situation is. Common sense says that logging on for a few minutes is not a good way to observe a population over time.

And if there numbers are lower, and you come here to gloat, then that speaks volumes about your character...or lack of it.

What you really mean is you want everyone to see it the way that you see it?

Newsflash, there are loads of people (me included) who couldn't give a shit what you think or whether the game is losing players, gaining players or they are introducing pink spotted elephant mounts in the next patch. I enjoy my gameplay, i enjoy spending my spare time with the group of people i play alongside and that at the end of the day is all that really matters to me as it is 'MY' sub, 'MY' game time and 'MY' free time to spend how i see fit!

Run it down all you like, slag it off all you like, pour out your little stories of lost friends and failing empty cities, it makes no odds to the people that play and enjoy the game.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Wouldn't mind Argent Down losing some of the alliance players :)

About your post.. the crowd in SW is probably now in Dalaran.

The ones you muted and are gone, maybe are gold sellers?

The rest, yes some quit, others changed their names, others migrated to other realms.

So nothing to worry about. Or be happy about, in your case.

"brah" must be the new hip word for the youngsters. I'm getting too old to keep up with the fads. : P

I just cameback to wow EU a few weeks ago, and on the server I am on SW is actually very busy, particularly around common raid times, people buying pots, gems that type of things.  When my bf and I came back to the game, this was how I picked our new server, looking to see if there was lots on the AH, and if big towns were busy just before and just after raid times.

Once I got to  Dalarn it was ofc packed.  I also started a new alt, and I have had no trouble getting instances, just did a nice pug BRD yesterday, and in face I have had to level at night for less competition for mobs leveling.

I am sure that this isn't the case for every wow server, people have moved around and so some are more populated that others.  But if people are looking for a nice pop EU server, give hellscream a go.

When I logged onto older characters, I ofc found that many of my olf friends no longer exsisted.  But people do move on, change names, change servers, get new jobs.  But, I keep bumbing into people like me, people who come back, start up fresh on a new server and make new friends.   There are lots of guilds recuriting, and lots of pug action about still, and so there is still lots of fun to be had.

But ofc this doesn't make wow perfect, and I can't argue with people who have disliked wow balancing and changes, or dislike wotlk.  I myslef have not liked certain changes, and ofc people and perhaps old friends will have left for these reasons too.  But currently wow still has a healthy EU population.
