Most people may not agree with me on this site, especially since a lot of people hate anime here... but I would love to see a Naruto MMO. If not an MMO a massive PvP game.
Shadowrun and Battletech are both owned by the same company http://www.battlecorps.com/catalog/index.php Somebody get on the phone to them quick:) Would love to see these bad boys as Mmo's.....In shadowruns case hopefully not like the peice of ass fps battlefield clone they released a few years ago.
I agree with Kordesh's post near the top. I would like to see a MMO come out that actually had to create it's own world. But if there was any pre-existing IP I would like to see made into a MMO it would be the "Death Gate Cycle", "Sword of Truth", or attempt to figure out enough of L. Ron Hubbard's work and get something going
- Case: Thermaltake Kandalf Black Chassis - CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (OC'd 4.2GHz on Water Cooling) - Memory: Mushkin 8Gb (4x 2Gb) DDR3 1600Mhz - HDD: Dual Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM - GFX: (2) XFX Radeon HD 5870 in CrossFire - New upgrade!
"I like wow, I like aion and I like AoC all for different reasons.....the later cause i get to see boobs, but still its a reason!!" - Sawlstone
I would like to see NOTHING. MMO market is oversaturated and mostly by the same crap with a slightly different theme. Personally, I'd be happy with not seeing a new MMO crop up every two days, and for companies to actually put some thought and depth into their games for once.
I agree with you entirely on companies rushing crap to market, but I also think that we shouldn't be making "properties" into MMOs. Something like a movie or a book really isn't condusive to making it a living, breathing, growing world. For one, obviously, none of the people in the book or movie can ever be player-characters, which is really the only reason most people want to play in these worlds. In a Star Wars game, everyone wants to make a Luke Skywalker or Han Solo clone. That leads to a boring, one-sided game for one, but it also inherently limits where you can go with the gameworld. Nothing can appreciably change or directly contradict the book or movie so you're stuck in a closed, unchanging, boring world with a bunch of cheap clones running around.
No thanks.
I'd much rather have entirely new, original worlds based on interesting concepts that can change and can grow over time. I don't want inherent limitations placed on the worlds I play in.
Stop making licensed worlds, just make good games.

Catalyst is leasing rights from Wizkids for the table-top (which is what you see on Battlecorp.com, which is the online shop for books and miniatures for Catalyst). They don't own the electronic gaming rights. Smith & Tinker own those (bought them from Microsoft) and Smith and Tinker was founded by one of the original FASA guys who created both those worlds. A Mechwarrior game is being made (not an MMO) by Piranha Games (with S&T) and they have talked a little (A VERY LITTLE) about what they may do with SR after the MW game is done. No hints or clues as to what type of game they do with SR but pretty sure it won't be an FPS (really, Microsoft, really, wth were you thinking...).
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
I would most definitely like to see Advanced Dungeons & Dragons made in the World of Greyhawk or Forgotten Realms settings following AD&D ruleset 2.0. In no way, shape, or form would I want it to be the mess that DDO is.
Shadow run has alot of upside, but it must be done right and not level dumbed down.
there is so much printed material with this game if they just put in what existed and wrote out more run/missions this could be such a great game.
Battle tech while interesting would it be a FPS or a lance command tactical game? grand strategy?
Robotech in most of the time lines. macros would be a heck of a good time. The Invid war with the alpha and beta fighter with the power cycles would be a heck of a good time. work away from the level based stuff though
Rune Quest is an epic level heroic game but it requires people to really want to be read and roleplay the lore.
Of course Honor Harrington, Wheel of Time have great material and promise.
There is a lot of good IP out out there, but for all the good IP out in the world there are alot of people who do not do the games justice and jack them up. I like point based non-level based games, I like more free form.
STOP MAKING WOW CLONE's, SOMEONE INIVATE FOR GOD'S SAKE.

played:WoW and Eve off and on 5 years Tried:CoH/V, PoTBS, War, TR, STO, FE TOR is likely to rock

Have to agree with much here. I just started running a 4th edition Shadowrun Pencil & Paper campaign for my game group. I'd LOVE to see it as an MMO. I just don't want it made in this era of "accessible", "quest hub to hub", "level-based", "casual-friendly" environment of games creation. Shadowrun is complication, tediousness, unforgiving, hard and any mmo based on it should reflect those traits.
When companies fully realize the whole MMO genre is niche and not futile attempt after attempt to recreate WoW's sub success, and they realize they can throw away that mold and make "tough" games again...then, and only then would I like to see a Shadowrun MMO.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Microsoft still holds the rights to Shadowrun.
But early dune when all the combat is shields and flishet pistols. Also with all the great houses all fighting for power it would make an interesting concept. They could also make it a bit of a RTS mixed in were you could be the great house.

Owns, yes. Smith and Tinker, however, have licensed the electronic game rights from them and is actually doing something with them along with Piranha games. New Mechwarrior game is incoming. S&T is also owned by Jordan Weisman, one of the original creators of the FASA catalogue of games (Shadworun, Battletech, etc.). In the latest interview, Jordan and the head of Piranha have also mentioned they've some conversation about what they want to do with the Shadowrun IP. No solid hints or clues yet.

I'll tell you what I really want to play. In 1983 the author Fred Saberhagen released the first book in an outstanding epic series called the Book of the Swords. These swords were created by the gods and each endowed with a special gift or power. The books told the story of each and how they were used by good and evil to lord power over each other. Men traveled continents to search for each of these swords and sometimes held massive battles of one against another. I won't ruin the story for you if you are the reading type but needless to say there is more to the swords than the names imply 8 ) It's a deep and involving story with a plot as far and expansive as any you'll read. An MMO could be set up and have people do more than just fight for levels and for land, they could fight and cheat and steal and do whatever it takes to gain possession of one of these swords. If a swords particular power was misused it could be up to other current sword holders to team up and defeat them. Owning one of these swords would also mark you for death, sounds fun don't it?
