Faith based politics vs Hope based politics

Is there even a difference? Really?

Maybe we should seriously consider getting leaders that don't require self delusion as the foundation for positive advancement.

    Yes.

Faith based is believing something to be true that you haven't actually seen but you somehow KNOW to be true anyways even though you can't actually prove it to anyone else.

Hope based is believing in something you THINK could be true even though you can't actually prove it to anyone.

One presumes things can get better, the other presumes things WILL get better because of God.

    Fixed.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Faith = wishing David Copperfield or some other magician performs a miracle to solve a problem.

Hope = wishing for other people to join yourself in solving problems.

At least that's how I see it.

So since Obama is God or the Messiah we have nothing to worry about! He is are only hope just like are children iz learning! He will bring about change we all have been hoping for and protect us from the evil doers that hate are freedums!

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

How about one who has faith in hope? Hmmm?

There may be a difference between hope and faith, but there is absolutely no difference between Blind Faith and Blind Hope in the political spectrum. Massive sweeping unidentified change brought upon by folks blindly "Hoping" and agressively nodding to Obama's every step and smile.

If you don't agree with Obama, you're a hater.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"(Heb.11:1).

I'm sure you'll appreciate that one considering your views.

I'm not a Christian, I am a Deist. Nice try though.

I think you took my post the wrong way - I was trying to add some humor, but I suppose it failed. Hrmph.

I think they are both dumb things to base your decisions on, quite literally too.  Wouldn't it be better to be Fact and Logic based?

Somehow I doubt the next election cycle is going to be between a candadite running on the Facts platform, running against the Logic platform. More likely it will be Pray Hard vs Just Trust Me!

I think it would be interesting to stop electing lawyers and career politicians and instead elect someone such as a physicist, mathematician, chemist, or even a biologist.

Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man. -- Bertrand Russell
