SOE incompetence After 12 hrs still down?!

This is the worst software company i have ever seen... 12 hrs down and downtime looks like it will last for another 12 hrs or more..

For christ sakes.. this is a P2P game on the market. SOE look like nubs in the MMORPG market.. makes me puke for having spent cash on eq2 and my time on it too.

Why dont they just rollback or whatever ? Me and loads of friends of mine are totally Qissed off with this crap.

    I agree,

    But this is an online game and shit happens. One would think that SOE would have a backupplan for this. How ever /crying about it wount help. We are getting all of our debit removed but other then that i feel that SOE needs to work out this things b4 the put a Fix live.

    Main reason i dont play SoE games they morons they either need to lower the subscription fee or give free expansions because in my eq experiences from eq 1 sucks always goin down for somekinda maintennence or what not finally i said hell im not payin nomore.Seemed everytime i had a day off from work and nothin to do and i just wanted ta relax and get into eq bam they were down so i left them.Playin anarchy now bout ta migrate over to WoW soon.

    Ya i played AO too.. was a Doctor 175 there. I left a lil after Shadow Lands cos AO was buggy as hell and quite laggy.

    If you dont like to pay for Xpansions dont play AO either.. cos they are like SOE in that. You either pay for expansions or you will stay behind unable to acess new areas, new skills, new weapons etc. FunCom are another bloodsuckers Software company.. at least they dont have a game down for the whole weekend like seems this will be the case tho.

    No point in rubbing it in, but downtimes for WoW are about 2 hours, and the most recent have just ben server restarts....

    I juhst loged on to the Create caracter page in the game. And there i my car. Edakai was standing in the login section. LvL 20 tho and with my old clothes/staff on.. Thats more of a rollback then from the last downtime.

    but nonetheless, I do think it's a terrible action on SOE's part. They should have done incriments, instead of a freaking whole 24 hours..

    SOE is not incomptent and you can't have a back up plan for ever possible scenario.  Dealing with software myself I know the frustration of introducing something into your already running code and having it back fire even though test runs ran smoothly.  The fact Sony is Giving us refunds on the time we're missing and wiping all our XP debt which I know for some folks can be rather hefty, shows they aren't out to JUST eat our money.  Maybe the Production company is but the developers are not.

     

    When designing software you always make a list of possible problems and solutions of how to handle them.  But you can't take into account for everything. 

     

    If you think that you can please by all means go learn to program software, build a really huge HUGE HUGE like thousands of pages of code piece of software and tell me you figured out ahead of time everything that can go wrong.

     

    And no im not a fanboi.  or a Fangirl.

    SOE has had more experience with online games than any other company and pathetic examples of administration such as this are disgraceful.  Being a long time player of Asheron's Call, the undiscovered EQ and Ultima, for four years, (No I dont play anymore), I never experienced this down time that I have been told about for EQ2.  And Turbine had nowhere near the resources or manpower that SOE has.  Sony needs to get on their feet and stop crawling.  They had EQ, most sucessfull North American MMORPG ever, and now they have EQ2, which was made the (excuse my language) bitch of WoW the second it came out.  Pick it up Sony, your not in the 1st grade anymore, there are more than 2 other companies making MMORPG's now.

    Another thing, kboy_5, honestly, why do you feel the need to flame and inflict your 11 year old ignorance on us all.  Nobody asked you to open your childish mouth.  We are simply discussing a topic and all giving our opinions on how, or why it happened, or on Sony.  Then you come along and maliciously attack other posters.   Go back to pre-k and learn how to talk to people before someone puts you in your place.  And another thing, the launch of WoW was one of the best.  They had a loot lag problem which was immediatly resolved and responded to with the launch of even more servers.  I played and was on early beta for both.  So if you would like to argue with me when I have more experience and knowledge than you go ahead.

    i have been a beta player of a few mmorpg games that i have been privaleged and lucky to have been accepted into, i have defended when players have complained about downtimes, bugs, wipes and all that but hey in beta thats to be expected, HOWEVER, i have also stated that if i pay 2 play a game that isnt giving me a service at all cos of downtimes (over 5hrs) bugs that stop play, server rollbacks etc then i will post my dissapointed about it IF i happen to have bought and paid to play the game. This is a prime example, yet you seam to still get flamed for just asking for simnple recompence for what you have lost. If you went out and bought a £400/$600+ graphiocs card and then when installed, you found it didnt work what would you do, throw it in the bin and just say crap happens and buy another one or would you immediatelly be on the phone or back down the store for a replacement? P2P for a game is much like the same, some form of recompence without all the bull that seems to come should be done. Ive had far less hassles from other companies whilst in BETA STAGES than what i have had from sony entertainment, one if not the biggest name in mmorpg games and also one of the lamest.

    I have with a few others cancelled my subscription and am thinking of how to return the 2 week old game back to them for a refund as i am clearly not happy with the shitty service thats been given so far. The game is nice i must admit, but everything else is crap.

    Geez people, find *something* to do while it gets fixed.  You don't have any idea whether it's incompetence or what.  And what does it matter anyway.  It will be fixed when it's fixed.  This is the cheapest entertainment on earth ... if you just can't handle imperfection, then you'd better start looking for another planet image

    As for the WOW launch, which is totally irrelevant anyway, it was an unmitigated disaster.  You won't see anyone dare say anything bad about WOW over here ... go to the FOH board and you can read the laundry list of problems in WOW.   But, WHO CARES, all games have problems.  Play one, play the other, play both, or play others ... who cares ... just stop whining constantly.  These games companies are ALL full of hard-working people trying to do their jobs.  Give them all a break.   Get over it or go watch TV.

    Hehe, well even if I don't really care that the servers are down,
    I have to agree that thia is laughable,
    I played a lot of mmorpgs too and server downs and rollbacks happened quite often back at UO Times,
    but nowadays a unsuspected downtime of ??h(I think it was 24h now) is a little harsh don't you think?
    To me it shows just the lack of skills from SOE, and the Information is as bad as everytime.

    As I write this, the down time including roll back is going to be over 36 hours. My characters had no exp debt. Unfortunately I can't cancel my account, since I already have !

    Great graphics, poor everything else, ending at customer and technical support - as evidenced here. I reckon they've got 1 tech, and 10 "project managers" working on this whole project, and it also wouldn't suprise me if they failed to do any backups on the character database.

    No one Likes Down time.  Ashron's Call is a rather um..Lets just say there's a reason you can't buy much for that game? lol.

     

    And yes SONY is giving us a refund on the hours we're missing in play its posted on the official news forums.
