HorkathaneHorkathane Member Posts: 380

I went to my local Game-Stop and did the $5 pre-order. I pickup my beta key card the fist week of august and will get into beta for $5. I then pay for the rest of the game (no shipping fees) on in store pickup.

Not since word got out about their stinky microtransactions...

  • 2pure2pure Member UncommonPosts: 23

you made a good choice, don't listen to people when they down talk the mt's, its just cosmetic

  • lornjlornj Member Posts: 334

i went ahead and ordered it online from game stop and paid my $57. figured i might as well cut throught BS and get to the point.

Microtransactions are going to be for fluff. People are gettign bent out of shape for nothing. IM excited about CHampions, COH/V were great games. This should be their landmark Superhero MMO since they got good experience with COH and COV. I know this wont be a half arsed game it will be full and complete with all the bells and whistles as well as stability and performance.

The only BS here is Cryptic's.

One month from release and still this on their FAQ.

Q: Will a monthly fee be required to play?

A: We have not yet announced the pricing structure for the game.

yea fluff that should be part of the monthly fee.... for game that touts customization as a key element.

Accepting this kinda thing is going to lead MMOs in a direction none us of want.

I'd be ok with it, if the monthly fee was lower the the norm or all content updates are free (IE you never pay for an XPAC)

oh they will start with fluff items, and then i bet they expand on it later to include items that give an in game advantage.

People accepting microtransaction now are just helping it become standard in all mmo's..well done guys for ruining the genre.

If you look at CoX, everything is still cosmetic and as no impact on the gameplay.

And I'm waiting to pre-order until they actualy have the beta key card in hand, had many trouble with them in the past. They said they were going to get them and by the time you get there, they are already out. They probably keep them for themselves and family or sell them, anyway, if they don't have them, no pre-order from that place.

Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!

    get out of here troll

Green wasn't trolling there, but in Cryptic's defense, I don't know many game site that keep there FAQ section updated like they should... it kinda a bottom of the barrel thing on the priority list.

The number 1 game in the world does this ? ( WoW ) yes they have the card game for mounts/points . This is how MMO's are going to do things these days. Cable company , cell phone company all do the same milk the customers all you can =(.

I did the preordered at Gamestop up here in Canada. i called Gamestop today and either the person was clueless or they just didn't know anything about the game. She told me there were no beta keys coming and was unsure of the release date ?? WTF they thinking up ?

    Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion
    Playing Rift

Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =(

The trading card game does fall into the micro-transaction thing by a long shot.

    That's Promo not MT

Loot cards are completely based of chance.

Just found out about UDP, tho.

I looked up the in-game stuff you can "buy" with those point

    They aren't that great.

    Firework trinket... /yawn

    Ugly looking tabards... no thanks.

Orge suit trinket... ok that one I like.

Main reason to buy those cards are to play the card game, not for the in-game stuff.

I'm tired of people, like you, that are willing accept this kind of non-sense from companies, leading MMOs down a path I don't want them to go in.

I haven't bought those add-ons for Fallout 3, Well DLC for any game on any system really, for the same reason I don't want MTs in Sub based MMOs.

    It all about principal.

Pretty much every conpanies with monthly fee have stuff you pay for extra money.

    Cable has pay per view.

Phone, cellphone charges extra for long distance call, voice mail.....

Internet charge you if you download over your limit.

Even costco charge me just to be allowed to shop there.

Many MMO now have some kind of MT like WoW, EQ2 or CoX.

It is the way of the future, these are companies that are there to make money, not to please you.

This is what I did. Can't wait till Monday of next week. Although, maybe I should wait till Wednesday to go get my beta key card?

I guess the next time I go pay that entrance fee at the night club I should tell them I want all my drinks, food and women for free too ? I'll spend money there in 1 day than an entire year sub to Champions Online. Real life, its here and nothing is for free even if you already paid for the admission.

When everything out of his mouth is negative it is.  All he is doing is trolling.  I have looked back through most of his posts and that pretty much all he does is troll.  Plain and simple if your not gonna get the game leave.  I already have green on my block because he is a troll.  I would advise everyone else to do that also.

I know what both are saying but they are going against the standard that has already be set. I don't want MMOs going to this. I'd rather them raise the sub fee then go with the micro-transaction route. I also worry they going to beyond fluff side of things too.

    @ghost047

What cell phone company changes you for long distance nowadays?

And any ISP that have limits on bandwidth usages should be avoided at all cost.

edit: btw Because It looks fun, and I on vacation the week it comes out, I pre-ordered from Gamestop.

I've dropped $60 on game that lasted me all of 2 days before... this should last at least until Aion come out.

That is a terrible example as cover charges, as stupid as they are, hardly buy one drink. Some bars offer "Pay upfront, get everything for 'free' " deals for parties. What Cryptic is putting in is basically "Pay up front, then pay some more for special things". It's a complete rip off, no matter how people try to spin it. Why do you have to pay more for the item? Why isn't it included in the subscription price you are already paying? It's not that it is impossible, or that it costs them too much, or that they would lose money. It is greed, pure greed. They know retarded sheeple will actually pay for virtual items on top of a subscription cost, so they exploit them as much as possible to milk the most money out of them as possible.

It's a damn shame that some people actually let them get away with it too. Opens the door for other companies to follow suite.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
