Explain this to me like I'm 5 years old. If i buy the Digital Download version now for these 40 i get my 30 days free, and start paying the subscription. Will I have to buy another version after the game leaves the beta stage to a complete stage?

No. You pay 40€ now and once the game is released, whenever that is, you get 30 days free (30 days free is my assumption). Regardless, you dont have to buy any other "versions", you are pre-purchasing the full game now and in the package is included beta access. Not sure which beta block you will be in though.

What do you think happens mate?
There is no argument to support them doing it this way. Developing funds are secured through sponsors, not by charging potential customers ludicrous ammounts to attend an early beta. This whole setup reeks from miles away. But then, its not the first time is it?
And still people fall for it... Oh well, its not all for nothing, at least this site makes a great source for a case study in human behavioural patterns.

It's no different than pre-ordering a game and getting a key to access the beta. Once the release happens, you get a 30 day subscription. No one is forcing you to purchase, just wait till release and see how things go if you don't think its fair.

Actually there is a key difference between a pre-order and a pre-purchase (which is what this is). Pre orders are charged when the game ships, and is refundable up to that point, where as pre-purchases are charged when you create the order and are most often not refundable.

The only time you don't really pay full price is because a store like Gamespot lets you do layaway.
