Router and XBox Live help

This is the scenario:
Through a router; My XBox detects cables, my IP, my DNS server, but says it cannot connect to XBox Live.
Directly through cable modem; My XBox works fine with XBox live.
Now, I did what the troubleshooter suggested; I turned the MUT past 1356 on the router, and also double-checked to see if my router was on XBox's "approved" list. I have no idea why this isn't working through my router, and it's very frustrating. I didn't buy a 8-port router just to have to go directly to my motem.

Seriously, saying the games suck had no value whatsoever in the thread, aside from just trying to draw up an argument.
Costs more than high-speed internet? XBox Live is $50/year... That's a little over $4/month. Who's your ISP?

not so sure, mine worked fine
but turn the other ports off (the switches on them) my router has switches for the other ports which can be turned off...

The wierd thing is, it's worked before with this router. I admit I've done some kinda wierd stuff to the router trying to set up this new network for home, but everything I've checked is fine and it should be working.

Well I'm picking it up this winter break (starts today, woot)
Since it released same day as EQII I haven't had any free time. So I decided not to get it for a while. Well I think the time has come where I'm gonna have a lot of free time (half day sleeping, quarter day eqii, quarter day halo 2) is my plan.
So yea...I guess I'll play a substantial amount.
