Is it true that a spell becomes weaker when more people know(or cast) the spell?

No, this was soething they did use in the early days of asherons Call.
BTW,asherons Call was my first mmorpg and I return to this game every second year or so just becous in my eyes the game is simply the best mmorpg ever made and I dont think there will ever be any game you can compare with it, simply the best.

As stated above it was a system from the beginning days of AC but was removed some time ago. There's so many different spells in AC that the only one it would even effect now a days would be Tusker's Fist.

Yep it was called spell economy. But yes it has been removed a long time ago. AC was my first MMO too and i absolutly loved it. I played it for 2-3 years straight when it lauched. I tried the game again earlier this year, but unfortunatly i can't stand the graphics anymore. It's just me or AC seems uglier on recent computer.
Are tapers still required to cast spells? I remember having a whole bag full of nothing but the colored tapers, and having to run back and re-stock all the time. Every time a spell fizzled you would wince when you got the message saying it consumed a taper!
yes you need tapers but now only 1 type of tapers for all spells prismatic tapers so it is easyer:-)
