I'll almost definately be starting off as a disciple or war. Archer FTMFW! I wonder though, will players be allowed to multiple disciplines right from the get go?
Everyone, I have joined FF XIV Core, and I must say, it is a very good and well created fansite for all things FF XIV. If you have not joined yet, then by all means join.
By the way, my name on FF XIV Core is the same as here, and my avatar (Radec from Killzone 2) and quote (a phrase from Sun-Tzu's "The Art of War") is there too. You can't miss me.

Now that's hardcore dedication to FFXIV. I bet others are going to come to your website to steal information about GamesCon. I don't think many people will be as dedicated as you to go to gamescon this year.
I wish I could go to Gamescom. I would live in Europe just for that! haha Make sure you guys keep your eyes glued to this fabulous fansite. The staff has been camping all avenues of information and refining the existing information we have so far. I am absolutely thrilled about this. I sure hope they have some gameplay footage too.. Woo!
It's possible. I do not know how the FFXI payment model worked for SE. I kind of liked it actually. Pay about $2.00 less than other leading mmorpgs but purchase new content ID for a mule when needed. It will be interesting to see how they handle this actually. Since inventory space is going to be treated differently (more space than what is granted you initially in FFXI) would there even be a need for a mule? if not, then maybe SE would follow the most adopted payment model - $15.00 straight up each month and as many characters you want to make for the slot amount they provide.
I'd like to pay for the time I play. It's a cool concept. Obviously its fine with me to pay $15 per month or whatever as well, but buying lets say 40 hours is awesome. That way I know, "oh shit I've just played up 40 hours of time" and maybe, just maybe will spend my time better for awhile hehe.
Paying per hour would be good and bad.. Like gambling in a way - would help with those who tend to be extremely addicted to things. lol You go to a casino with a certain amount of cash and made a firm decision that when that runs out, that's it! Leave credits cards and checkbooks at home please!
Haha that's true, but still, for people that have a lot of things to do outside of the game - paying for x amount of hours is pretty cool. Not a necessity though, I mean, the standard monthly fee is very low as it is.
I can't stand people that complain about MMO monthly fees. Going to a movie is like $10 almost, and that's w/o any of the snacks/drinks, whereas an MMO can provide a loooong source of entertainment for $15/month.

Sane people with full-time jobs understand this fact, but most just use it as an "excuse" to warrant dismay. There are a select few who cant afford movies and PPM MMOs, but usually they can explain it better than someone complaining for flames sake. I will admit paying does make me feel a tad obligated deep down, but I'm also very picky with spending money
Core is still a great site I'll spend more time on it one day...when I get the time & stopping looking around here, lol
And I agree about the monthly fee, I just like new things. Haha. I would probably still just pay the extremely low monthly fee that MMO's have these days. I mean, I didn't even complain back when I was 15 years old and played Meridian 59 and EverQuest..
I've been pretty busy lately, but I'll get to it ASAP sorry for the delay. Hopefully you're not mad at me. I'm just not good at those short notice things.

Great community and a great website, what else can you ask for!

Maybe there'll be a level limit... ahem, a weapon limit until you're able to have several. Hmm.

Well, I'm for sure that it'll be 15 dollars a month since FFXI was only 12.95, they probably want to up the subscription rate.
