Hehe, I'm excited they added a PC game forum (Can you tell?).
Anyway, I just downloaded the Directors Cut update and I'm enjoying my third play through. I forgot how good this game is.
Anyone else playing through again?

I am still trying t get through it the firsttime but I do love it. Even went so far as to pick up a European version of it when in Europe. some day I will have time to play it more than a half hour here and there.
I'm about to download the update and play through a second time. The Witcher was really an excellent game. Right up there with KOTOR and Deus Ex on my all time favorite list.
I hated it. Watching over 30 minutes of cutscenes/cinematics and then coming to realise the combat is slow and dull. Uninstalled right away.
I'm just cool like that.
I absolutely loved the Witcher. I haven't played it with the new update yet, though.
I geuss you not really into RPG's, as like almost any RPG combat starts slow to be faster and faster as you progress. And if you watch cutscenes for 30 minutes, you must have a very slow computer, so why are you blaming the game, sorry never seen 30 min. cutscenes, just a few that didn't even mark a minute.
Anyway on topic, Yeah I loved the game, it's a nice RPG with fun combat, atleats for those who might be looking for something new if they not familiar with RPG, or for those3 who like RPG, the withcer is fun.

Where did you learn how to read? Because I don't think they taught you well.

i was hoping the witcher would be alot like kotor but i never got any new armor or equipment for a long time or the choices you maded didint realy make a diffrence so got bored fast but never played the whole game only the first village part till you where able to walk around in the city/castle area or whatever you call it

If you chose to sit through 30 minutes of cutscenes, that's your problem. Listen to the VOs or don't, just click once you've finished reading the text. Cuts the time by half, at least. Seems like your taste in combat is different too, but to each his own.
As for me, I'm playing it through again since I downloaded the patch.
The choices you make DO matter, you just don't see the results in 15 minutes, there are long term repercussions.
When you make a choice, it changes how the story unfolds, what quests you get, and what NPCs you meet.
My first play through ("good") and my second play through ("evil") both played out differently, and my third play through ("neutral") has been different than the previous 2 play throughs.

I have enjoyed this game plenty, but keep on running out of steam. I think it's because the combat is not so great. But I do come back to it every so often, play a few hours, and see how it progresses.
As an interesting dark fantasy, this game is definitely worth playing.
But personally I find it a little restrictive - not as much exploration of a vast surprising world as I would have hoped.
I’ve actually played up to patch 1.2 exactly one time.
I went neutral and sided with Triss Merigold over the boy.
I have it patched up and await another chance at siding with the humans and one play through siding with the non-humans this time.
Now that I know, at least highly suspect, who the boy was in the church I can’t wait to see the different outcomes.
Edit: Confused myself..I meant the boy saved towards the beginning.

Meh I couldn't really get into it, the combat feels too MMOish and the voice overs were absolutely terrible. Especially the redhead in the beginning.
Arg WTF is Kalkstein in chapter 3?? I've still got his contract for alghouls and mage tower quests from chapter 2 in my log.
I disagree with the exploration point someone brought up, on the contrary I find it fascinating exploring how the npcs grow as your actions unfold.
He's in the tower.
are they still porting this game to 360/ps3 or did they cancel it?

The Witcher is a great game. People who never played the Enhanced version should give it another try.
I think the majority of the cutscenes are great. Who knew there'd be so much humor in it? I have plenty of screenshots of just dialogue. Good stuff. Other than the swamp part (chapter 2?) being a bit long and tedious, I have few complaints. I recommend using at least some alchemy early on. I didn't use any other than night vision for a long time, and I missed out on hours of fun. Bullet-time fighting? Cool stuff.
I enjoyed it a lot, even if I was near the end of the game before realizing I could throw a fireball. RTFM. D'oh!
