Well I played GW since beta weekends, so I'm pretty burnt out on it. Aion may not be the most revolutionary MMO, but it's a hellova lot of fun, and is gorgeous. I'm going to be playing Aion until something better comes out (hopefully GW2?).

I play Aion till Guild Wars 2 gets released.

I played Guild Wars for 2 days, and then regretted buying it. I HATED being constricted to a tiny little path. Every time I tried to walk over a rock, the game made me walk around it. Just a  stupid design that made me feel sooo boxed in I never felt the urge to return.

    Oh, so yeah Aion...heh.

I plan to play neither until they're both released, and then continue to play neither.

    Aion

I'd rather pay the sub for a true persistant world.

It depends. If you like Arenastyled PvP, then GW is still the best out there but for regular open PvE you can try Aion.

I don't see a problem playing both since Gw don't have any monthly fees.

GW2 is another matter, it will be miles better than Aion in a true persistant world. But we will not see it for another year unfortunatley.

Wow! I didn't know you had access to GW2 details that we didn't!

    /sarcasm off

The focus of Aion is PvPvE. If you want an open world PvE game you should probably look elsewhere. You can PvE in Aion, but the focus is on fighting the realm while trying to fight raid bosses. There are many of us who love Aion and think it's a solid game. As for GW2, you can easily speculate that it will be better with absolutely no knowledge on it. You can also speculate that it will be much worse. Either way, it's a pointless contribution to the conversation.

I would say go with Aion. It's solid, engaging, and gets great patch updates.

I would say AION since players seem to move toward games that are completly new rather than sequals to older games

Aion is just another run of the mill MMO.

Guild wars is over 4 years old.

Both have ups and downs.  But, you never pay for guild wars again after you buy the box.  And they are always updating the game, changes, events.  But since Aion is about to come out here, everyone will say that.

Aion by far. GW was fun for awhile but i didnt like the idea of once i was out of the city i was all alone. sure it was fun for awhile but i could not go back and play it again. now GW2 looks sweet but for right now im really looking foward to Aoin

Aion until Guild Wars 2 is released.

Then everything else will most likely take the back seat.

Guild Wars is a better game.. especially if you've never played it before. Because of the low level cap and all that, it's never too late to start.

However if you have played Guild Wars for a couple years, you might want something fresh.. thus Aion would be a fun choice. Plus Aion is more of a persistant game.

HOWEVER Guild Wars 2 was announced and although it is a year away at least, that will blow Aion out of the waters imo.

this, I couldn't stand being so constricted. that might be what I hated about the game, it's like they threw you in a little box by yourself.

They're two different games from two different eras within MMO history (I know its barely over a decade =x, lol, but the industry has evolved fast). How can you even compare the two? The lore and role the characters placed within it aren't even remotely similar.

How about this, if you don't want to pay monthly, go with Guild Wars, if you don't mind paying monthly, go with Aion -_-

I don't know. I only leveled to 23 in Aion beta but I felt a lot more constricted in there than I ever did in Guild Wars. Aion has the most linear leveling (from what I've experienced) that I have seen in an mmo.

  • SuniojSunioj Member Posts: 261

Aion comes out in a few weeks and GuildWars2 is well whenever it comes out.  I plan on playing both.

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

I enjoyed my time in GW more than i did the Aion beta. The limitation of the beta weekends should have been an incentive to log on and play but the need to do it wasnt there.  So to answer your question, GW. Hopefully GW2 will be good as well.

    Guild Wars hands down.

  • kastakasta Member Posts: 512

Aion.  Hated GW.  Don't see that changing with GW2.

  • tboxtbox Member Posts: 372

Aion is going to require more time invested.   Guild Wars has a far far far more complex pvp system with many different ways to customize your character.     Aion has quests and looks far more prettier.

If your playing for competition  more then you are playing to excape into a fantasy and have nothing more exciting to do with your time.  Guild Wars will be for you. If  you enjoy the atmospher and want to be immersed into the game world Aion will be the game for you.

I'm going to call you out on that as Guild Wars is one heck of a beautiful game with an amazing soundtrack...you don't get much more immersive than that.

Just looking at Aion's terrain textures is enough to make me barf. Why oh why did they have to go and spoil it like that?

  • MikehaMikeha Member EpicPosts: 9,196

Aion is going to be my main game but I also be playing Guild Wars 2 when it comes out. Those 2 games should be able to hold be for a while.

Why is everybody so confident in GW 2? There is very little info about game mechanics. Every time I hear new info about GW 2 it just sounds more and more like a WoW clone. I am disappointed GW 2 is moving away from the gameplay of GW 1. Wish they just kept making expansions for GW 1.
