Following our recent announcement regarding the commencement of Aion's open beta, we have taken steps to ensure a smooth setup and preparation process for all participants. While our Launcher will incrementally update your client, the new and patched Aion open beta client has been distributed to a select few partners around the web to prepare for our open beta test. To get your hands on it, you may visit FilePlanet or download it from GamersHell(available later this week).
We have also added a new option that the Aion community has long anticipated: downloading the full open beta client via our BitTorrent tracker. We have even arranged for a totorrent patch for those of you who already have the closed beta client installed but want to get prepared for open beta!
As added extra spice, FilePlanet will--in addition to distributing the client--be giving away a load of open beta keys starting on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Get on the starting line if you do not have an eligible Aion account already! Eligible accounts include any previous closed beta participants and those who have preordered or prepurchased Aion."
I suggest if you already have the closed beta client to use the torrent! Faster to download and also puts less pressure on NCsoft's servers.

<Bows before NCSoft> its about time a developer gave an option besides Fileplanet, NC has ther own patcher, there own torent, as well as Fileplanet and Gamerhell options . . . every other game needs to take a look at this. I know it can be costly but at least a torrent option.

You need a key to make an account, every beta I have been in has been this way.

Thats why I hate Fileplanet, they try to drain you at every turn and aim to make life unpleasnt for you if your not a payed subscriber to them. However I have my key from NCSoft not Fileplanet (pre-order) and have never got a key from a payed site and I absolutly refuse to. (No more Fileplanet exclusive betas!)
To then turn it into a full purchased account. They are trying to make money here.

Torrent is the best wa y to download patch 1.5! Do not waste your time with downloading it from NCsoft! I got my download done in 4 hours or so..
So... let me see if i understand, this "open" beta is for the closed beta players, anyone that has preordered the game, and some fileplanet subscribers that are lucky enough to recieve an "open" beta key?
Geez why do games lately don't offer a REAL OB, crap i wanted to try this game out before it came out... guess im just not gonna play it... see?! they lost a possible customer, im not going to buy a game i havent tried!

Let me just say i told you so. I knew that NC would go the route of other mmos and use the fileplanet site for their OB, and i got flamed by some moron, who inturned reported me for flaming him back, but w/e. Any way i didnt expect for them to give out other options for their OB so a big KUDOS to NC, so everyone wins here i guess. Hope you guys have fun i know i did in the Chinese version
Why not just preorder it and then if you dont like it just cancel the preorder.
