Had no problems download either, since FP added the EU servers I actually download quite fast from them, only took like 20 minutes.

Ok, so I tried out Fileplanet. Which did not work, not to much surprise, I never had good experiences with FP. It was basically the same. After 2 Gb the download did not resume for some reasons. As I said, FP never was very reliable IMVPO.
The 2 other links I was told about where not to be continued with Download Managers eithers, and finally the Torrent I got even after two hours still was at 5 kb/s and 2-16 weeks estimated download time. I have zero idea if I will ever be able to download it, or if I have not wasted the money for nothing. Take it as a warning. NCSoft has apparently problems with distributing their game via download. You may be lucky, but you may be not.
My advise: DONT BUY AION via download. Do yourself a favour, be parient and buy the box in the store.

    You have been warned.

er... nice grammar.. you sound like some google translator with typos. anyway. why cant you download aion all at once? its not bad at all for a computer or an internet modem or anything that you need to acess the internet to stay on for 48 hours straight.. also, regarding your torrent problem, thats probably because nobody's seeding and there arnt any peers because its been too long since the game was available online. thats really the simplist solution to your problem. leave your computer on.

When you use Fileplanet i believe you should get the option to INSTALL a download manager. That program will always check for updates. The only way it ever fails ,is if the program is not the same file, otherwise it cannot fail.

The download manager should sit in task bar ,it'll show as a green circle thing,if you click it ,it should show any file you attempted to D/L or have D/L.It even allows you to open the file, rather than try to find where it D/L to,so it is handy. If you feel you got it all straight, you have an option to remove the D/L from showing or you can even delete it,if you want.

So all i can say is that if you get a fail on Fileplanet, better to erase and start over, because they may have changed the file, since your original try,so it will never work again on that file. This is how EVERY D/L manager works, they cannot resume a different file check, even if it has the same name.

I would never use Torrents, that is the biggest pile of crap ever invented.F2P sites like to use it,because they are cheap.Torrents utilize your bandwidth and all users bandwidth to operate properly, otherwise if you are not configured to allow them a ton of shared bandwidth, you will D/L at super slow speeds.Any reputable D/L site will offer at minimum 150+kb/s,you should get over that on Fileplanet even if no subscription.A good D/L speed should be around 360 kb/s,a Microsoft site would have D/L speeds around 500+,using torrents you may D/L at varied speeds, usually starting at 150 or so then fading down to less than 1kb/s,it is because MANY net providers  limit bandwidth through certain addresses or block them totally.

    Hello Yunbei,

Most people do not have problems with Steam, FP, or the NC Luancher when downloading a program. As you cannot stay connected and have connection issues, This may be more of the problem than any of the companies or the resolves the following are trying to help you with. As you do not have much experience with Tech stuff, I'll try to make it as easy for you to understand and try. As this may be a problem other people may be having too.

Aesperus states: "The problem isn't the download, so much as the fact that you can't stay online long enough to finish it, from the looks of it.

Since that is the case I'd recommend using steam. Steam stores DLs, similar to a torrent, and picks up right where it left off each time you log on. It has done this with every single game I've bought off of it. I Dunno if it's as good as getting it straight from the source, but it should allow you to DL it"

The first part is Correct, the 2nd has nothing to do with your problem.

Karyuudo states: "Hi Yunbei, what web browser are you using?"

The only good information from this dude is that Firefox is a good web browser but has nothing to do with your problem.

YamiOfHell suggests: to you to use torrent and wait for however long (estimated time 2 weeks+ under your problem.

Wizardry: has some good information with file planet.

At the end result you have 3 area's which may be the problem you are having.

1st, Your computer may have a virus on it that is effecting your connection to the internet.

2nd, If your computer is connected to a Network hub (A Device that shares the internet with a number of computers with Ethernet cords) It could be the cords/network hub causing friction between your ISP-Internet Service provider- and your computer.

3rd, Your modem or ISP could be the problem with a line that connects from your building to where ever or wireless depending what your using. Before contacting your ISP about your problem, it would be best to check for viruses, And checking out your network hub and all your Ethernet cords to make sure they are healthy.

Of any of the choice's, Wizardry's choice with the file planet manager would be the best step and fastest, if you ignore your problem. If you want further details to your problems with connection you can PM me.

If that's the case try using Firefox and try FP again and if it isn't then I have no clue. It's only a suggestion but hope it works out for you

    I am using Mozilla 3.0.13

I used Fileplanet with its download managed, when the connection to the Internet broke, he got back in the line and continued, but at around 1.6 Gb, he did not re-connect with an error I cant recall. But it the same I know from Fileplanet for some time.

I checked for virusses, none. I also do not share my computer with any networks or what.

    I tried it with Bitorrent: speed ~ 5-10 kb/s even after 2 hours I had 16 MB.

I have Free Download Managed, which did not succeed to continue when I wanted to continue after 26% the next day.

Steam... but I already bought it from NCSoft store now, I really don't want to buy it a 2nd time from steam.

*sob* I don't understand any of this computer stuff. I just want to download something... after days and hours of trying I am at the end with my nerves. *__*

Firefox Mozilla 3.5 i have noticed a change in speed as they claim XD works even better now.

Well if your not though any networks, Goto

    http://www.speedtest.net/

and test your download/upload speeds for us and see if it might be your ISP speeds ..after the speed test (Post your results please), contact your ISP and figure out why your connection keep's cutting out since it may be them having the problem.

Threads like this just completely mislead ppl - it is just one person's opinion and he can put a topic like this for all to see? I got my Full Client no problem for CBT 6 then CBT to OBT patch on FP in about 2 hrs yesterday. The client does resume and works fine.

You can't just say DON'T BUY THIS VIA DOWNLOAD as a blanket statement. Most ppl nowadays buy online and use various download options with no problems. At the very least the OP should be asked to change his Subject to a more relevant title. There are always problems with downloads but usually it's  a very small minority.

All topics on forums should state "IMO" as a disclaimer :D There are too many threads on this forum with incorrect or misleading titles.

Srry to hear that but you probably need to workout your download managers cuz like others have said before me.. they do resume a pause download.  I had no issue with downloading Aion client whatsoever.

  • I used the NC Launcher to download initial beta, then patched using FP with no problems.  I didnt patch using launcher as it was a bit on the slow side.

I went through using the FP free account download. So inevitably the game took forever. Once I was able to download, 30-60 mins later, I started downloading it using firefox's download system. This means It was already somewhat implemented onto my computer and I can just pause it when i wanted to. It started with about 300Kb, primtime free FP downloads tend to be very low, and I went out for dinner. Got back 2 hours later and It was at 7G out of 9G with a 1.3MB  download rate, still very standard for a free FP account. So after another hour, my roomate comes along and goes, "yo I can get on aol.". So i get over to his computer check his internet etc. Then I'm like, ohh I guess I should move the router and see if you can get a connection then. So I go back to my station pause the download, disconnect my modem and router, move them to a better place, and then restart my download. The blessings of Mozilla Firefox are awsome. 2 hours later, a total of 5 hours, My full client donwload was finished. Then I had to spend 30 minutes with the instal and any updates. The FP Aion Client I had downloaded was 1.50 or something and not the specific OB patch. So you will have to update it, but it seems to be a very quick patch.  the NCsoft launcher took an amazing 30 secs.

That is per my experience with downloading the Aion OB client. I personally don't like and don't trust torrents so I stay away from them. From what I've heard they tend to be faster. There was an issue with FP Aion Client downloads awhile ago I believe, but that seems to be fixed. My suggestion to you is use FireFox for a major file download. So you can pause and pick up on it whenever without a penalty, unlike Internet Explorer. And for any major file download, give your computer about 2-5 hours to download it. Unless its from disks. Even then give it an hour to 2 hours. Hope I Helped!

OH NOES!!! DONT BUY IT ONLINE!!!! IT DUZNT WORKZ....

     THEYZ STEALIN MY MEGAHURTZ !!!!111!!!!11!!

    Two options here:

    1. Start downloading the full client from fileplanet and DON'T SHUT OFF YOUR COMPUTER/INTERNET CONNECTION UNTIL ITS FINISHED.

    2. download the torrent file with the bittorrent client. Bittorrent works the exact same way a program like limewire would. It simply a way to connect users all over the internet to share their files, another advantage of this is you don't have to wait until the download is complete to shut off your computer or internet connection. When you load bittorrent back up it will continue downloading the file from where it left off. (It actually downloads the file in sections/parts) And if your downloading very slowly with bittorrent its probably because either your windows firewall or your router firewall is restricting it. I'm not about to explain how to fix this, but this link here will help you.

For me I had already played closed beta so I just had to download the torrent patch

Just because your computer-illiterate doesn't mean you should start a thread telling everyone NOT TO BUY IT ONLINE!

Can't comment on FilePlanet though. Had no problems with the NC Launcher besides their extremely slow speed.

Tbh, I have ZERO idea how such configurations. I am just a normal guy without tech knowledge. Some tech guru may find ways or issues, but for a normal moral like me, I just see I try it for 5 days straight now, LOTS OF HOURS, and nada.
I am VERY VERY frustrated now as you may imagine.
(Other downloads work, so it is only this Aion thing where for some reason nothing works.)

I down loaded from FP and the first time I went to open it and it said the file was corrupted, so i deleted it and gave it one more try on FP and 6 hours later I had the 9gigs of the game downloaded and installed on my cpu

I bought the digital download today and in the beginning I had 6-20kb/s.

I never had problems with downloads which should go at much higher speeds before. Then I remembered that I set up a new netgear (connected to pc by cable) router last week. So I reinstalled my old DSL modem again and... tadaaa the downloadspeed now jumps between 200-600kb/s which is ok now I think. Don't know why the netgear router is so slow  (if anyone can give advice please let me know) .

So, you admit that you don't know anything about computers.  You explain this is a problem that only YOU are having because of YOUR ignorance.  And you started a thread telling EVERYONE not to buy the game because.....?  I mean, WTF is your deal?  Why are you telling EVERYONE to avoid buying the game as a download when only YOU, one single person, is having problems?

The world does not revolve around you, and what you experience is not what the rest of us experience.  A title like "Need help downloading Aion's client!" instead of telling us not to buy the game online would've been great.  Instead, you are either coming up with some lameass reason to tell people not to buy the game, or you're scaring people away from buying it a certain way because of your own ignorance and stupidity.

You have the power to learn about computers, or to throw up your hands and shrug and just sob that you don't understand any of this computer stuff.  Make a choice that leaves you better off, or at the very least doesn't discourage other people.  Essentially, man it up...

While I prefer Linksys over Netgear (especially using 3rd party firmware), that should not have much of an impact on your download speed.

Just remember these two things. As long as the game downloads before next Sunday, you arent missing anything.

You don't by any chance have your hard drive setup with a Fat32 partition instead of NTFS do you ?

    Fat32 has a 2Gb file limit.
