I will be planning to play day on because it is Bioware and I'm a fan of the Star Wars Universe. I been playing Bioware games since Neverwinter Nights and they make awesome games.
If you are a fan of either and you make the decision NOT to play it without first trying it, you are being kinda stupid.
Yep that's my opinion. If you dislike it, well I would probly think you are a moron anyway. So it all works doesn't it
Never violate a woman, nor harm a child. Do not lie, cheat or steal. These things are for lesser men. Protect the weak against the evil strong. And never allow thoughts of gain to lead you into the pursuit of evil. Never back away from an enemy. Either fight or surrender. It is not enough to say I will not be evil. Yes; I will most definitely be playing this game. I have been watching it since it first hit the MMO genre. The thing that annoys me is what is the projected release date. Then I can figure on playing it 6 months to a year after that. I don't have any clue what they are saying on where they are in development, nor what release they are targeting. Either way I am really looking forward to it.
Unlike many other games that have come through development recently, every single announcement I have heard about this game makes me more excited for it... rather than the other way around.
I'm done with theme parks. The last couple times I tried to get into one I was bored in no time and regretted spending the money. Same old crap, different game. Sure TOR will have a few new twists, but at the end of the day, the game will boil down to a quest level grind, loot whoring and some sort of end game. I'm looking for a virtual world to game in, not another "on rails" Disney Land hand-holding experience, and that's the vibe I have from the game given the current information.
My opinion could change if I start seeing more open world type features revealed, as long as they aren't just token features in an attempt to lure in old SWG vets. However, I don't expect this to happen, as Bioware doesn't have the nutsack to make a hybrid theme-park/sandbox game.
I can completely understand why some people may be stoked for this game, but I've pretty much written it off.
Earthrise looks a hell of a lot more interesting, and the art is much, much better in my opinion. We'll see what the game play looks like in that one.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
In all honesty I am just looking to play a good game wether it be a MMO or a single player or whaterever.
Bioware to me makes good games and it being Star wars is just a plus in my books. They are a good company with good games and I am sure that the intial buy will be worth the month of gaming on it.
Besides, what else is there that is coming out that comes close to this IP and being made by a reputable company like Bioware?
Personallly: Pros: It's an MMO and it's made by a respected developer.
Cons: It's Star Wars, the king of dorks. It's Lucas, the king of douche. It's "soloplay". Do I care that I get to conduct limited "dialogue" with NPC's? No. That's not what makes a good MMO for me. There will be lightsabers and that dude on youtube with the broomstick will be everywhere.
But wth, if it's polished and the engine is good, I'll prolly at least buy it to try it anyway, cuz I can't stay away from MMO's.
ROFL. Defintely the funniest post so far. However, I think Star Trek fandom will always win for "king of dorks."
No, not at this point. I'm done with theme parks. The last couple times I tried to get into one I was bored in no time and regretted spending the money. Same old crap, different game. I know what you mean. I share alot of the same concerns, even with the latest tease of housing. I have a feeling it'll be the token implementation. We'll see, though. I too am a "no" right now. If housing meets my personal measuring stick, as well as crafting, then I'll sign on. Make no mistake, though, I don't have any serious expectation of the Vogel/Walton led team meeting the requirements for me to purchase.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
I use to be the kind of person who would hate the direction that TOR is going given that it is going to be heavily story based and a non-sandbox title, but the truth is now I don't have the time for a sandbox game. Recently the only games I've been playing have been games like Fallout and Fable; Games that don't make me feel as though I have to play to stay be competitive and don't force me to spend 3-4 hours a day on my PC raiding. The truth is I think that TOR is going to be amazing, because it will essentially be a terrific single-player Bioware MMO with persistant DLC updates and the ability to play and compete with friends. That all being said, I not only know I'm gonna buy this game, but from the looks of things this will be my mainstay until the day the dev team decideds to release a sequel.
Blizzard uses WOW to harvest hours played into bottles so that the dev team can remain immortal
It's funny because "based on all current information" will keep changing as information gets released since we are so far from release.
I put undecided. There are many things that seem great to me, but a lot of them are without full explanations and aren't implemented. Some of the things that are implemented raise my eyebrow, but I have to treat those the same.
I voted yes. Even though I will always be more of a fantasy fan(always have been since I got my first D&D set back in 83). I do love Star Wars and the KotOR games were great. From what I have seen of the in game footage plus the write ups, it really has me excited.
The only other future games that have my interest is Aion(maybe), Star Trek Online(I am also a big Trek fan but not as much as Star Wars) and Copernicus. I am probably the most excited about Copernicus because its a fantasy game that has RA Salvatore involved. But again SWToR has me pretty pumped and I will definitely buy it.
A yes for me too. Im very optimistic on this one and i really trust bioware in delivering a great gaming experience, they've never let me down! The last developer walkthrough got me very excited about group play and how missions work. Im sure the game will be great if we give it a chance
I do not care if they announce all players will be uncustomizable hamsters with small carrots instead of lightsabers. My pre-order will be in. Why? It's an MMOG. It's an MMOG based on Star Wars. It's an MMOG based on Star Wars made by BioWare. That's why. Thank you and goodnight.
Fixed. There is no more RPG in this game than there is in Counterstrike.

this post ^^ makes me..../meh
Big yes from me, unlike some people I can get past art styles / combat styles to enjoy the underlying story of the game
And it is an MMORPG , the sheer amount of people who will be "Role-playing" in this game will be staggering to say the least.

It looks like it might be the next MMO for me, but it still depends on what they're doing with PvP.
It's Bioware and it's Star Wars.

At the time they started development for TOR, DDO was brand new, and Atari was focused on that game.

as each release of information has changed my "meh" to a giant "MEH"
something is really wrong considering the developer
No. Tbh, I would rather shoot myself with a nailgun.
I like bioware, they make great games, no doubt tor will be quality. I may do a trial or something, but this will never get a mmo commitment from me.

There's no question for me. Yes. If I don't like it, at least I tried to.
That's how I feel.
After that its only a toss up of if I'm going to try it as a smuggler or a bounty hunter (that's been my constant love for star wars smuggler/bh).

Which FF Character Are You?
yes
The adventure I will go on in this game has me excited.
I only hope there is End Game content as I love to raid. PvP is a must and I am sure there will be plenty of that!
