"...character stats are much higher than we originally predicted"

Good times.  Ready the hidden nerf just like Sunwell :)

Thought it would be interesting info for those who like to argue about WoW..enjoy...

Always amazes me that people still regard Blizzard as a quality company, they were. The pioneers and talent have long gone, does no one understand the internal political shift that happened when Activision merged with them? It's not Blizzard-Activision, it is Activision-Blizzard..

"The reason the stats got so high is that the Ulduar model of gear (where hard modes offer higher ilevel) was something we added after ship and therefore after the core combat mechanics of Lich King were already in place"

-- so did they go, right we released Lich King, erm now what?!

Everyone knows the good developers went over to Blizzard's "A Team" and are secretly working on their next MMO. Only the "B Team" is left working on WoW. Or was it the other way around? Either way, that's the case.

I find it strange that devs can't build in a progressive model to allow for character lvls and equipment.  Maybe these guys have never played pen and paper rpgs.

    Gear is crazy right now.

So much op gear on everyone I don't blame blizzard for wanting to nerf stats a bit.

It's not easy to design encounters and balance pvp when everyone is so op.

    Playing: WoW, EvE

Interested in: TOR, ER, GW2, WoD, Dust514

Well some of the original guys that made Vanilla WoW left and started their own studio and that was the WoW I enjoyed. After TBC its all been downhill IMO.  But I guess their now A team is working on the new MMO and the B team is still working on WoW.

    Wouldn`t surprise me at all.

Too many of the devs are producers and managers, and not gamers.

Yeah I really don't like gear that puts a + to base stats.  I always liked how DnD handled stuff for their gear.  When you start doing what WoW did you get crazy gear pluses in the 100s and it just gets retarded.

Right, so they knew they were going to add Ulduar,    so when they were building it, they decided to add an extra level of difficulty to give players more things to do and more of a challenge.

Does it really upset you guys that WOW has 12M players so much that you have to pick on the devs for every little comment they make.    So maybe they will have to adjust the iLevel of items next year.  Big deal.    My guild  has MORE things to do each week because they added more challenging encounters.

Please go back to AOC and Warhammer, I'm sure you won't have to worry about either game adding any content any time soon.

yep activision want in ! the only thing that will happen is blizzard will die

activision is literally leaching off blizzard i bet if blizzard miss employe activision will offfer some of their hell ,blizzard doesnt need activision pack of problem lol they can hire elsewhere

i hope activison leave blizzard do its thing but the fact is when money is involved  everybody want in espacially when its called blizzard

i bet activision wish is probably to make new good game ,the fact is it takes time to do it and activision doesnt have time

blizzard got plenty of time if  it wasnt for activision!

All part of their plan really. It lets their not as experienced Devs and such get that much needed experience, and, it allows players to slowly lose interest in wow, and want in on the new MMO they are creating.

Come on, they don't want to have wow competing directly with their new mmo.  Let it slowly fall down to normal MMO numbers (couple hundred thousand), and the mass moves to the new game.

But yeah.  I still laugh at how things are changed all the time that they said they would not do.
