It has the best combat system of any game ever made. Sure it could be improved upon, but the combat system is unlike anything you've ever played - including Oblivian. Plus the battles. OMG the battles you can get into this gme can be intense. Especially if you get the battle sizer that allows you to tweak the number of combatants on the field. Think battles in access of 1000. You c an command individual forces like ground troops, archers and cavalry all in real time and in your face. lol The battle fields become littered with bodies, weapons, stray horses, arrows, pikes - it looks like a battle was fought once you are done. I love the archery. The melee combat doesn't get good until you've trained it upo to the higher end. Once you have the skills though the melee combat on foot and from horseback is by far better than anything you'll experience in any game anywhere. You have to really get a feel for timing to get your swings and blocks in. What is so cool is the blocking is directional. If you block the wrong way you can open yourself up for an attack. Your shield can be damaged and even knocked out of your hand. Then you'll need to just use your weapon to parry and block with. Much moe difficult until you get the hang of it. All in all Mount and Blade is a great game, I just really wish we had a world like the one in Oblivian to explore or better yet a huge MMORPG made using this combat system. I'd play no other game if it was done right and I'd pay $25 or more to play it a month if it was good. Have to be a sandbox game. Lots of places to explore. Dongeons to crawl. Ruins to find. Treasure to be had. If I only had like 100 million I'd make that game!

Waiting For: FF14,Guild Wars2 RIP: Tabula Rasa&Hellgate:London(online) Playing:Fallen Earth&Guild Wars& Dragon Age
Really wanted to like Mount and Blade. I can't stand the controls though. They should let you drive your character with the keys and move the weapon with your mouse. Changing the function between foot and mounted is unacceptably bad design for me as well. If they would let you remap key function that would fix a lot of the problems for me. I see too much consol influence in the current set up though.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
