The Faction Change Service for World of Warcraft is now live. So, for you spineless traitors out there, you're now free to defect. Go ahead. We won't miss you, promise.
The official Faction Change FAQ is available here.
lol. And soon, race changes will come. Since you basically can race change off of this, you know you will see race change inter faction soon, as long as the class can be that race.
And I Wouldn't be suprised if by the time the next xpac hits, class changes with a 90 day cooldown (So you can't switch all the time). With faction changing being 30 bucks, I bet race changes will be 25, and class change will be 40.
Oh yes. Got to love how this MT store for blizzard is so well accepted and perfectly fine, yet anything for any other sort of game is "retarded, dumb, causes people to leave the game, etc, etc, etc". Yes, it's not offering uber items YET. But it is still offering things in a store, more or less. And it's cool, right? Because it's blizzard and wow?
We got many servers already where Horde side dominates and it's impossible to win Wintergrasp as an Alliance side. With this faction change available now, I expect this to become EVEN WORSE.
I wonder how will they remedy this (or will they?)

Oh yes. Got to love how this MT store for blizzard is so well accepted and perfectly fine, yet anything for any other sort of game is "retarded, dumb, causes people to leave the game, etc, etc, etc". That's just a personal opinion. Yes, it's not offering uber items YET. But it is still offering things in a store, more or less. And it's cool, right? Because it's blizzard and wow? Faction changing is completely different. It's a service from the company, which I add is harder to execute since they have to take into consideration the items on the account and compatibility with the chosen race. This is far from a microtransaction store, and is warmly welcomed since WoW is an established game, hence more experienced players wanting to change factions.
This service does not give a player an advantage over another, this is not a RMT store where you can buy your way to the top gear and weapons. This is an ****optional**** tool players can used to change factions to perhaps play with new friends or to experience the other side without the hassle of a re-roll.
If I were to compare this to anything, it would be a cash shop function similar to the one in Mabinogi, or other social MMORPGS. You're paying for something you would otherwise spend quite a bit of time doing, but the change is for the most part, cosmetic. I am almost certain that this system will be used by people who want an UNFAIR advantage over others in the form of numbers, and will make faction imbalances even worse than before. Blizzards answer will be, of course, "if you don't like the faction imbalance, you can either transfer off, reroll, or paid faction change." Now, if the charges for using these paid services weren't so high (heck, most MMOs could likely run on the fees from these character recustomization sales alone), I could see them being fair. In their current form, they seem more like a "Hey, let's milk the game for as much as we can before we kill it off to make room for our next MMO."
For instance, if I were to transfer my alliance characters to another server, and change them to horde, it would cost me roughly 150 dollars. The faction change, of course, allows for a server change to appease the masses, and if it didn't, it would be even more expensive. Now think about that for a second..150 dollars, roughly 1 year of sub fees, paid all at once, simply to transfer 5 characters I have leveled to be with my horde characters. Even more, this entire service is automated, and takes less than 1 hour. For that simple transfer fee, I could play any MMO for 10-15 months, more if it were a bad one. It may seem like a good deal to the ultracasual who has only 1 character they will ever play, but to many people it is obviously overpriced.
In addition, as many have said, this change paves the way for Blizzard to go back on many other things they have said: paid class changes, paid levels, and eventually, paid gear customization followed by the inevitable paid gear. Remember, Blizzard once said they would never allow all the paid character recustomization options they have now, and look where the game is now.
Time to move my NE Druid from that horribly imbalanced realm that favours the Horde to the horribly imbalanced realm that favours the Alliance. But will change to Horde in the process.
Each Faction Change costs $30.00 USD (not including applicable taxes). This covers a single Faction Change for a single character."
What a rip off...$30 to have an automatic system change things in a second...this is a bigger ripoff than server transfer. If they didn't cost so much they would probably make more money as more people would be doing it. Oh well looks like I won't be returning to this greedfest after all.
Yeah, screw you Blizz, I already left you last week. Money money money, that's all you're about these days. Time synced hogwash for the dumbed down masses. God I hope Aion is better than this five year old drivel.

doesnt look that way ,check on asian part you ll see how it is!
i betaed it and nothing is worth paying ,its a good game but it like the chronical of spellborn ,etc
there are lot of f2p game that are = or some even better then aion
if it was free and just monthly yes but its not worth the initial price asked too expensive
SO far I have not read one single bad thing about it, and I have been following it closely.
lol well you hav nt been looking very hard have you . Plenty of people i know that are either playing the game now or have played the game in the past hate this idea .

So they played pre beta, free server or Chinese server then.
I dont hate the idea, I love it. What I do hate is the fact that they are charging half the price of a brand-new released game for it. 30 bucks? Are they high on something? Yeah I forgot, they are. They are high on the millions (/ billions?) of dollars they already make each year.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
The faction change, of course, allows for a server change to appease the masses, and if it didn't, it would be even more expensive.
Actually it doesn't. You need to add another $125 to your math. If you want to change faction and server for your five characters it will cost you $275.
My wife and I enjoy Battlegrounds, Alterac Valley the most. I earned the rank of Commander and my wife that of Sgt. Major on the Alliance side under the original BG ranking system. We have been frustrated for years with the inept PvP efforts of the Alliance and are more than pleased with our decision to move to the Horde.
Give up all hope Alliance.
For you, there is only the respawn timer to look forward too.

Sadly you're correct...I read the new blizzard posts on it and I would have to..so basically theyre seling race changes within the same realm now, provided you wait 60 days (which will likely be shortened to 7 at most in the near future, as name change/server transfers were shortened), for 60 dollars. Talk about greed.
When I change factions, can I select any race for the character?
You may select any race of the new faction provided that it is available for the character's class.
Does that mean I can use this service to change the character back to its original faction?
Absolutely; however, this will require purchasing another Faction Change.
When I change a character back to its original faction, can I select any new race?
Yes. As noted previously, though, you will only be able to select a race that is available to the character's class.
I wonder how they are going to explain the change lore wise. Right now it kind of sounds like, "Oh wow, I went to sleep as a Night elf Mohawk and now..wow..now I'm an Orc Warrior! Watch me dance! Can't touch this..Rawr!"
I'd love it, if they'd put in a system similar to EQ2's where though an epic system of quests (even if to get on the quest you had to purchase the starter) where you can change your allegiance. Wouldn't it be fun to run around as an evil gnome or hang out smelling up Stormwind as a troll?
I guess, to me, a character is who you are. Changing race, sex, age, unless done magically as some sort of evil wizard's punishment, is dumb and would be hard to explain in lore.
But then I guess lore is lost on a lot of gamers now a days.
Blizzard is well aware that this function would bring both lovers and haters to light. Some of us, like myself, who only play maybe 2 characters, have been waiting for this. It's a pain in the ass for those of us who don't have endless amounts of time to waste on leveling another character. Some of us have jobs, real lives, and other such things that are far more important. Why should we let the hard work it took us to level that character go to waste? Let me rogue sit on alliance where I know no one and have no use for her rot? Or move her to the horde side where my family, guild, and alts are so I can benefit better from all the game is supposed to revolve around?
If you hate it, fine. Who cares? Why waste your energy worrying about it? If you wont use it, then don't use it. Let the other people who can benefit from this, do so. Blizzard can't please all the people all the time and even if they loose maybe 1,000 people because of this, so what?! They have BILLIONS of players in this who do like their game and who can have fun. Stop worrying about it and just play the game!

Down with Blizzard for giving players choice.
It's not the same principle as game-changing items in a cash shop, but it is an account service which should be covered by the subscription fee.
It's a money-grab, nothing more.
