HandykillerHandykiller Member Posts: 109

OK maybe not official but ive done TONS of research and results say that the rangers is the overall best class.. highest dps and good pvp:er.

Im sick of always picking the class that end up sicking end game...

I really want to play a mage but i wont.. a lot of people say that the ranger or assassin kills a mage in 2-3 hits end game..

Why does the mages always have the lowest hp :(

I kill for fun...

If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

Play what you think is fun.

Because in a proper team he (or she) will be protected by a tank...

I remember a time when people actually picked a class and over time became very good even through nerfs and balances.

All of this cookie cutter, flavor of the month rerolling is lame.

You wanna be a mage? create one and learn to kick the shit out of rogues and rangers.

What the hell is wrong with today's pvp community?

    Playing: WoW, EvE

Interested in: TOR, ER, GW2, WoD, Dust514

Thats just your belly. Drink some coffee, eat some food...youll be fine.

Goin Mage, to see how I do. Best of luck !

    Gosh, you know you're right!

PvP really is a black hole and all the fun is falling right into it :P

same as most mmo communities as a whole....we've as a mass become a group of spoiled bitches who want it now, not later, no we wont' accept this nerf, bitch bitch bitch whine, and the pvp'ers tend to be the worst of them /shrug

Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed.  Current mmo's grouping: tinder.  swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.
  • Yeah what's wrong with some people...

Personally I pick a class because of how they "feel" and their general idea. You just have to trust into the company to bring balance. And I'd rather be a class I enjoy than one that I can't stand but is fotm.

Only thing keeping my from picking mage is the orb/book thing. Looks weird to me. :P

Eh, I plan to play a mage. So what if they suck now, it's a MMO, nerfs/buffs will come and go, have fun and play what you want to.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Well, im making a Mage, and you know, if u master your class well, if you have good acknowledge of your class, ud be fine, u just need to know that perfect timing, that perfect group of skill to torn down an assassin =)

There's allways a way of overcome as a winner. And Practice Makes Perfect, never forget that, see you in beta =)

There is a plus side to playing a nerfed class. If you get really good with a nefed class once they get buffed you're basically a killing machine.

This is why I never reroll a flavor of the month spec. Doesn't matter what mmo it is, I stick with a class that best suits my playstyle.

Balance how? Seems to me that when played in a decent team balance is pretty easy in an MMO. Glass cannons should shatter when hit that's what meat shields are for, to keep bad things from happening to mages and healers.

God this has to be the most fail thread.  I hope you roll a ranger and when u hit max level they get nerfed and u are left QQing on forums.  Play a class you like, chances are the game devs will hand out nerfs/buffs accordingly.

Rangers have a good burst dps and other abilties which probably makes them one of the best solo PvP classes. Rangers do not have the highest DPS, tho. Nor are they as well suited or wanted for group PvE or PvP as some other classes.

Assassins are very good mage killers like they are supposed to be. Rangers are good kiters, so melee classes will have problems with them. I have also seen pretty amazing mage PvP videos, and they seem to be doing fine even in 1v1.

I honestly do not put much stock on your argument that "a lot of people say...". You have to illustrate it with theorycrafting or actual gameplay from more than a single source.

The PvP in this game is not balanced on 1v1. If you think it is, you are just digging yourself an early grave.

I feel the OPs pain but don't know if I necessarily completely agree.

When I started in another (not to be mentioned) MMO, I chose to play a Druid.  When I could *NOT* solo well (low hp, med dps) and couldn't group (wasn't full healer) I got stuck for a long time and ended up quitting the game.  Later to find out, Druids got buffed big time by the devs, but it was too late for me, I didn't return.

So although I understand, the adverse is often true as many here pointed out, if you pick the FotM, you'll most likely be just as dissapointed if you didn't pick the class because you liked it, but only for it's strength, because the strength will most likely lower, or others will rise to match yours.

Lesson (at least for me)...pick what you like, stick it out as long as possible, and then hopefully over time you're at least in the middle of the pack or have much better teammates that make you look better ;)

Another note... how does Aion's tank classes do at mitigating damage for mages/healers?  In WAR the tanks could split squishies damage with themselves for great mitigation.  Similar here?

Exactly!!! People have a strong tendency to forget these are -GAMES-, they're supposed to be fun, not work, fun.

I know... But i always play the mage....

But i thought may be this time I would try something new..

I thought aion was all about pvp, isn't the game mainly based on pvp?

Well what the hell, i might roll a mage.

Its a class game, thats my main issue with classes, there will always be someone needing a nerf or boost..just the way it is I guess.

  • dreldrel Member Posts: 918

I still think clerics are one of the best classes. I found my ranger good, but really didn't do well until the mid teen levels. Open beta will only allow us to go to level 30, so we aren't going to see how well the classes do in the upper levels.

*sigh* ... And here the nerf cycle starts all over again. "CLASS X IS TOTALLY OP I ALWAYS DIE" whine whine whine

Sorry for being mean... but after the endless nerf cycles I have watched by now, I am all sarcastic now and quickly developing into apathy. There are always people who feel their class is too weak and cry for nerfs. Yes the OP didnt say so, but it soon will start. And at some point the devs feel uneasy and listen and a long, evil spiral downwards starts again until all classes are mediocre cookie cutter bore-stuff because god forbid OP classes.

Champions was DROWNED in this spiral of nerf-downsizing and crushed from a jolly good game to unplayable in a mere 2 weeks.

Nerf and OP cry is quite rampant in PVP, apparently. When will you folks learn that PVP IS A FUCKING TEAMSPORT! There is no "I" in PVP. =P If you mage has a prob with HP the tank is not doing his job right. End of story. In PVP classes are not supposed to be all-powerful against all possible classes in all possible situations.

Im actually thinking of making a spiritmaster simply because it seems so few are going to make one.  Plus, I figure if they really are bad then no one will notice how much I suck at these games and I can just blame it on the class.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Yes its mainly about PvP, but GROUP PvP....not 1v1.  Think of it as rock paper scissors...

    Uhh... what?

Your research is wrong, I had a pretty long indepth discussion with some elitist friends who power leveled eveyr class through beta. Rangers are High Burst damage in PvP maybe every 45 seconds or so... not steady pow pow DPS, the Sorc or w/e is far more DPS heavy in a shorter stint. Youtube the Sorc vs Chanter video... Soon as a chain of spells hits the life bar disappears in seconds. Again though ranger strats are to stay away so they spend most of their time running.

Yes Mages have the lowest HP because they always have the highest DPS, thats the trade for most game designs.

Yet your discussing solo 1v1 again... this is a group pvp game, assassins can only hit you if they are on you so poof they appear and do a combo... run... pop your root, drop that meteor nuke and watch his full life bar turn to 50% or less in one spell. Eventually it becomes about the players skill for the characters success. But, it's group based so roll with friends or make new friends in game.

How exactly does nerfing ruin a game???  I guess if you had an OP class and then became nerfed, and now your whining about not being OP?  Weird post!!

If I said it once I'd said it a million times "It's my 15 bucks, I'll Play solo if I want to"

     Love you long time!
