Will you play Aion at release? Why or Why Not?

MisterSrMisterSr Member UncommonPosts: 928

I am posting this to see why people will and will not be playing at release. I want to really see how interested people are in this game, and hopefully be able to estimate how long this game will last. I am on the fence right now as to whether I will be buying it, just because I don't know how people are going to respond to the game and whether it will do good after the huge launch rush in. So by looking at who will and won't be playing it, hopefully I will be able to make a decision, and hopefully you all will be able to as well.

I will play it becouse im bored atm, some of my friends plan to play it to, becouse its fairly polished game, with decent rvr craft, and becouse there are no alternatives for me on mmo market to play. I plan to play it till the old republic, star trek online, new mechwarrior comes out.

And u make a poll to decide if u go to play it or not? (my english is not perfect, maybe i didnt understand the OP post)   ^^

No, I will not be playing.  Any AAA MMO that employs the use of gameguard proves to me that the devs are rather lazy.  There is also forced pvp, which encourages ganking.  Not my kind of MMO.  I'll pass.

    No.
The game is just another grinder. Very generic and unoriginal.

I might be playing it for a bit if the game was free-to-play like other dozen of korean copies which are pretty identical to Aion.

I'll be playing for the first month, but only because I got the game for free due to being a Tabula Rasa subscriber when NCSoft closed it down. I have no intention of subscribing after that month. All the Beta tests have shown that it just isn't the game for me. I'll be off playing FallenEarth instead.

    Yep.

Playing an MMO at release which is bug-free, has beautiful graphics AND stellar performance, is dripping with content (especially endgame), some very nifty features, and... wings.

    It's not to miss actually.

I found the game to be fairly dull in general so I will be passing on it.  High hopes for games seems to be wasted time now.

Sadly no because it's a pvp oriented game and I don't like to pvp much.

Yepp, will be there for headstart. Loved the game so far, and I know I will keep on loving it for years to come.

No, because of Gameguard... so I'll be playing Fallen Earth also.

Both reasons I am likely to pass, despite my desire for something new.

Yes, I'm loving the game so far. Have played in the last 2 beta events now and made it to level 27 this go around. Having a complete blast!

Will be upgrading my preorder to CE now (for the wings) and will be there as soon as the servers wake up on the 20th for head start.

No.  Would love to but the Authorization Server errors are a game breaker.

I'll wait till they fix it.

Anyone remember NETCONGABLENO from L2?  Not about to go through that again.

  • noxxnoxx Member UncommonPosts: 120

Great game in a highly polished state, real world pvp, lots of content.  I'll be there.

I will be playing from the start but am unsure of how long I will play it. Basically I think it has a lot of potential but it will be highly dependent upon the developers and how they handle it.

GameGuard is a bit of a concern for me but only if it causes me problems. The early stages of the game are fairly linear as are most RPGs on the market but still with that being the case it is both easy enough and fun enough to advance through it. The PvP is what will make or break the game. Aion will be trying achieve a middle path between the extreme of Darkfall and WoW. For me the PvP in Darkfall is to disruptive to the game play and has turned the game into more of an arcade game. In WoW the PvP is so stylized as to have lost meaning. High end raiding in WoW has also developed into a follow the script process where there is little chance or intelligence on the part of the mobs. In Aion I am hoping that with the opposite faction being involved that instead of pitting my and my legion's skills against a computer script that we will be challenged by real humans. This does mean that we might lose but the sort of guaranteed wins that have become common in WoW and other RPGs just become boring after a time.

Possibly Aion will be a disaster but I think it has enough potential and difference to other games currently on the market that it is worth a try. If it doesn't sound like your cup of tea then hopefully one of the other games coming out in the future will be.

  • Yep will be playing at launch, had a very good experience so far, in my view beta went well, they found the bugs and addressed most of them.  I have had a great gaming experience though I never took any character over 15 (want to keep it fresh)

Ok it it uses GG, but so did Lineage 2 and I played that for 2 years with no problems whatsoever.

Just remember all MMOs are buggy, some more so than not.  Some of them have been around for years EQ2 for instance.

I have played a lot of mmos over the years and yes this one is good, bit grindy at times, but am enjoying so far.

    Yes,

I will be playing it.  I will also be in the head start 7 days from now.

The main reasons why I am playing the game are:

    1) Its focus on PvPvE.  I love pvp and will not back away from it.

    2) Its high amount of polish and low lag, something that is particularly rare in today's MMOs.

    3) Its easy to grasp but hard to master gameplay that is similar to WoW and WoW has the best fantasy gameplay of all mmos.

    4) Its a new world to explore, a new community to leave my mark on. :P
