Logic escapes these people.  How on earth is a new storyline, a new world, angellic looking characters, new stories.. etc be less new... than doing exactly what you have done before a thousand times?  (which btw IS by definition 'More of the same')

I am baffled.   Did they expect the computer game to give them a handjob or something?

The funny thing about those people is they don't realize THEY'VE been playing the "same ol same ol" for the past 5 years. They aren't aware MMOs were here before WoW.

The thing that impressed me the most on Aion is watching videos were characters actually find obstacles to reach places like jumping so that you don't fall down, jumping to reach a house/whatever, to reach some were you need to jump on "pillars" these are some stuff that really got me interested on checking the game. it almost reminded me of prince of persia which makes it more realistic imo.

I'd rater have obstacles then always have a straight route that will take you to X place without any problems.

Well.. I'd agree with most of that, except for spirit masters: Right now their DoT's do not stack nor scale making them very crappy in PvE. In PvP, they are extremely group reliant and function solely as a CC class; killing things by themselves is a very arduous endeavor. The pet also becomes a fail tank after 40 (or so the Korean 50's say)....

It kind of sounds like the old WoW warlock all over again.

The sorcerer sounds like the black mage in FFXI, but MMOs in general are pretty common, so, not just a WoW clone, but an EQ clone rofl

What most call WoW clones should really be called EQ clones anyhow tbh.

Saying that, personally, the main aspects that I will be playing this game for come from that very fact.

Comparing any game to classic EQ is a compliment in my eyes.

Red = "Features" that were not in, or were buggy at best when WoW released... seeing that Aion is just going in to gold phase one... your argument is invalid.

Try again, and try a little harder this time.

Well i see Aion fans trashing WoW again and vice versa, why even complain if some WoW fans show up here and bitch when you throw attacks at the game, its a free forum so people can post as they wish.

As for people saying WoW fans are the ones causing the trouble, well the aion fans took the first shots here in this topic, not only that they seem to love trolling the Actual WoW forums with their crap hate.

They game will do well, i'm a Warcraft fan and i think Aion will do well, in the U.S. i really don't care how its doing other places.

And seriously stop with the WoW fans are scared they are gonna lose subs, really i don't give a crap, people need to go play what they like and stop trashing a video game, i mean seriously did Warcraft mentally abuse you to wanna trash it after years of game play?

No i don't think Warcraft is the best MMO out there, but i fun with it so i play it.

When people ask me if i'm going to try Aion i tell them no, i don't trash the game, but nothing i read or seen really grabbed me, no i don't need to play the game to change my mind, i'm just not interested in it one bit.

The Secret World and now TERA have grabbed my attention, so i will probably try those out.

I'm sorry but Aion in its current state will be stacked up against todays WoW not the WoW in late beta or early release.

Noone but the pure Aion fanbois stack Aion with WOW '04.

This has to be the stupidest fanboy retort ever. As someone already stated, Aion is not competing with the release version of WoW.

If you look at WoW's competition when it was released, it was way ahead of the field. The same can not be said for Aion.

Why oh why did I assume to find any logical reasoning on MMORPG of all places.

With your logic, good luck finding it anywhere.

so far as a brand new gamer (i have only played three years), i consider WoW, WAR, and Aion to be my favorite MMORPGs. i do not find them similar at all. for simplicity's sake, i'll only go over the differences between WoW and Aion, and what makes them enjoyable to me. keep in mind, the reason anyone enjoys a game is always going to be subjective, and sheerly based on opinion. if you disagree, that's fine, i'm not here to argue with you. i'm only stating my personal viewpoint and have no wish to offend anyone.

that said, i cut my teeth, so to speak on WoW. i had never played any mmo-styled game before. the first toon i made was an impossibly huge tauren who i could not steer (no pun intended) and who i abandoned finally at lvl 2 or so after i could not  guide him out of a bush.you read that right. a bush defeated my hulking warrior.i was too frustrated with him to want to continue playing and resolved never to log in again.and i watched my boyfriend play. he seemed to find it very fulfilling. i decided to try again.

right around this time, the BC expansion came out and naturally i chose a BE, primarily because of her size, but also for aesthetic reasons. i based her class on what boyfriend played, because i was only familiar with the style of fighting that class had. i lvled my little squishy lock up to 40 and learned how to utilize the auction house to help cover her vanity pet and pretty robe addictions as well as expenses for her prof, which was enchanting. it took a while to learn all the basics but after about one year, i felt i had mastered it enough and created dozens of other toons on several different servers.  i got a better feel for the interconnectivity of each class and prof and was wholly self-supporting. i got promoted in my guild until i was an officer. i did everything right and really loved playing. i never went near pvp, it sounded too threatening. ( i was on a carebear server).

by 45, though i tried my hand at the battlegrounds. the first few times left me literally running my toon in circles yelling irl, "What do i DO?! what do i DO?!" as gnomes and nightelves closed in for a quick sporting fish-in-a-barrel kill.  boyfriend was a gentleman and did not point and laugh at me. but i quickly learned what it was that squishies do...they hide and DOT and CC and, end up rezzing because the healers and the tanks did not give a good g-d d--mn about casters until they needed CC.  or so it would appear.

clearly i had chosen the wrong class. the more i played the more i realised i really liked to fight all up in my opponant's face. not hide behind a tree and throw DOT's or send a pet out. i rolled some warriors and confirmed this notion.

but, even so, the battlegrounds felt rehearsed and tired. run to this area on the map, dismount, accomplish this, mount, blah, blah, blah. and farm honor for armor. i was relieved when WAR came out. i had become jaded with WoW. i felt that strtegy really didn't enter into the game at higher lvls. (yes i maxed my favorite toons' lvls, i didn't just bg). and dailies were so tedious they made me want to weep from the boredom.

the only thing that kept me playing was the look on my almost stepdaughter's face when i let her take 'her' toons for a spin. (she began playing on my account at two and a half years old and lvl her own toon to 22. she takes after her daddy, i guess...except she hates pvp after an unfortunate encounter with a 'cute' gnome with pink hair who stealthed and shredded her in seconds while she sat admiring it's pigtails). i gave up managing the guild.  i played pvp servers.i beta tested WAR in both closed and open betas. i bought the WotLK and only played it once or twice. then i played WAR in earnest.

when i heard that Aion was beta-testing, i resisted the game. it seemed rife with drawbacks. two races?  angelic beings? etc. but when i played it, i found that the descriptions had not done it justice. the graphics are, bar none, the best i have seen. the game play is smooth and the storyline cohesive. i noticed alot of yammering about which is better, WoW or Aion...i really think it is comparing apples and oranges, though. i think of WoW more as a 'cartoon' and Aion, more as 'live action' in comparison. i really can't wait to learn more about the pvp and AP systems. i understand there are penalties for screwing up on the feild and i like that. i'm a little nervous about it, but i look forward to the challenge. there a advantages and disadvantages to both games.
