I hate to bust this out but... anyone remember Warhammer launch? Anyone else remember the same issues? Anyone remember what happened 1-2 months AFTER said launch?

    lol.

    This...

NcSoft also increased the server cap which lowered the queue times for most servers from 3 hours to 1 hour and they will be adjusting the cap as things settle which I personally applaud over opening a bunch of new servers (if you do not understand why see WAR.) I will say that I am surprised that the website and servers handled the load without a major crash.

True, War had WAY more servers but the problem was similar, a few overcrowded one's vs empty one's.   Who want to play on a low pop server ?

You realize this is the story just about every MMO on first day? As for what happened to WAR that was because they combated the issue of having a lot of people logging on with opening a ton of new servers which is bad for a game that depends on balancing two sides for PvP/RvR. They instead should have waited it out and increased the caps and released a few new servers as needed instead of a wave of new ones. NcSoft is doing the right thing (at the moment), now if NcSoft changes tactics and starts opening a large number of server then by all means re-post it again as it will have some validity to it.

Good, if Aion keeps all the mouth-breathers away from Fallen Earth, I'll be happy :)

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Fallen earth is a buggy turd.  You need all the life you can get.  I was guessing that the dev's used the Adventure Construction Set as the engine.

And no, I'm not an Aion fanboy.

You'd have to be a mouth breather to play Fallen Earth.

To each his own.  I personally have only experienced a few bugs in the game since I bought it last week.  Maybe your computer just sucks.  Yes, FE has some minor bugs, but for being a brand new niche game from a small dev house, it's been shockingly smooth and fun.  Your mileage may vary.  Have fun in Aion!

Too true.  I'm not playing Aion yet but it sounds like NCsoft is making the right decision.

This is not an MMO that peaks my interest due to the Asian style of graphics.  However, I am extremely suprised to see this thread.  I really didn't think Aion would be so popular.  Is this mainly US population?  Maybe I should re-explore Aion to see what the hype is all about.

No also EU servers got long ques at primeT

And expect it to be worse once release date hits, still entertaining :D.

Its a good polished game with a year live as backup.

Besides the queue's, which are to be expected in all honesty, this game has had one of the most polished and smooth releases i've played.

Not once has my server crashed on me, i've yet to D/C or anything, and have yet to expirence any sort of lag. Haven't encountered a single bugged quest/mob or anything of that sort.

I'm impressed personally, I can't think of any other game that had a smoother launch than this.

  • WickedjellyWickedjelly Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 4,990

Didn't even have a queue when I got home from work today and logged on.  It was nice.  Of course, who knows what the next couple days will bring.

    Having a blast so far.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Yeah maybe I stretched the truth. Aion launch was smooth for the head starters. The only problem I experienced was the play nc soft web site has been down a lot. I rolled on a low pop server to avoid the "queue" times ( i stand corrected from the spelling police).

So, launch is a great success. But serious, no amount of preperation could have prevented it, I think. Too many people want to get in.

One of the major reasons for the queues is because of all the douches that make a private store to prevent going afk and being logged out so they can leave their game open while they sleep so they can avoid the queues. If everyone would just exit the game and let others in this whole problem would be fixed.

I also believe that NC is limiting populations on purpose to forcefully spread out the populations on the servers. They will slowly increase max server capacity.
