On the Matter o Gil.....

If you have a FF Xi account with quite a sizable amount of gil in the bank and you were given the option to transfer some of it to your new XIV would your? Or would you consider this wrong? Given that they are considering the option of being able to transfer Character names from XI to XIV maybe gil could be too. That would could XI members some incentive to try  XIV I would think.

     I doubt that will happen.

    1. The developers have said transferring more than names between systems would be difficult.

    2. That would give an unfair advantage to FFXI over other players.  The developers have stated they want to draw in FF players that don't play FFXI, or MMO's in general.  Giving current MMO players an advantage over non-MMO players would work against this goal.

"Difficult " isn't impossible. And even though it is an advantage, its hardly unfair. Xi players have played long and hard for their gil and to be able to take some with you when you advance to XIV would be more of a reward for continued support of the FF online franchise.  Besides with such a tight nit community as XI I dont see any of them not willing to help noobs. I know I have.

    It's an entirely different game.

They will not do so, and it would be a waste of time for them to even set up when they could be focusing on making 14 better.

It's not even a logical choice, it would cause inflation and screw the economy before the game even starts.

and u tottaly fuck up the game right from the start. high prices on low lvl items and other sort of manipulation, nad its quite unfair to those who haven´t played XI but wants to play this one.

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
    "Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

I would honestly not want to take anything from FFXI over into FFXIV.

I played FFXI since launch and with the announcement of FFXIV I just want to start new and fresh, I'm even going to go as far as to say I wouldn't take my characters name. A new and fresh start is what this game is all about to me, I find that the best times in MMOs are during the days of its birth when everyone has a clean slate. =)

I totally agree. I want to start fresh aswell and don't want my same FFXI name. It was my first mmo and I actually used my real name. I do think that FFXI vets who play/plaed deserve like a in game item at launch like a 2% exp ring. They will probably do a collectors edition to get a few xtra bucks by offering some in game items at launch and vets should get 1 of them.

Honestly, the only thing I have heard so far about this game that really annoys me is the idea of transferring character names.  I think everyone should start fresh, even with names.  And if they want to try to claim the same name that is fine but I don't like the idea of reserving it for a player of a different game.  So I am certainly against the idea of transferring Gil.

    A bigtime WRONG !

Most of that Gil circulating around Vanadiel was brought to you thanx to the RMT,something i hope they get right from day1 and not 5 years later after the game is messed up.

I think what this game will come down to is perhaps the option to keep your same name and maybe guild from FFXI,and perhaps some sort of cost incentive to FFXI subscription players joining FFXIV.
