EC, this may be a really stupid question...  but why can't UKers buy the US retail versions?

I used to live in England for 5 years (my mom was stationed there while she was in the Air Force) and they used to run PAL and not NTSC format. Not sure if it's still that way, but that might be one reason if it is.

Isn't that class late in the game?  Like I wouldn't be able to use it for a little while?

  • ZalaciousZalacious Member Posts: 7

Awesome. I just hope I can customize it to look like the NCC-1701 (Refit) from the movies. Such fond memories.

Preorders? I thought the game was at least a year out from release? When is the realistic release date?

PAL and NTSC deal with video on the television. Computers all use progressive scan so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Sweet! I may have to put my "never ever, EVER preorder a game" philosophy aside for this one. A Constitution class would be awesome!

In a lot of cases MMO's are linked to region by their keys (i.e. Aion). But I highly suspect that they'll use a similar setup to Champions (1 regionless server) - so we might be ok.

Also a lot of the big "exclusive" pre-order items get duplicated over here (since "exclusive" tends to be region dependant). Still a while yet i'd guess to sort out.

Yeah, the devs have said repeatedly that they'll be using the same sort of system that Champs is using..  so the serverless "shard" system is most likely gonna be the way it goes...  My Superteam has several UKers in it..  which was the point of my question...  I know they ordered and got the US version.  And for preorder issues like this, I would think that you could just order it online and have it shipped?

Either way..  I hope the UKers can get the goodies that are being offered..  I'm sure other retailers are going to have preorder bonuses, just like they did for Champs.

I saw something on the STO forums about an 2409 Red Admirals Jacket being part of some deal but that you could also unlock it in game.  Im sure it was in some pre-order post, i could be wrong.

Could be the same with the Constinution, through a special mission or something.  But how would that make people feel who have pre-ordered or what ever to get a special item?

I admirals jacket comes with Season 3 of the TOS blueray box set, I'm really curious if other companies will also have the Constitution as a pre-order bonus as well.

Any other pre- order outhtere for Star Trek Online?  They did this with Conan, every place gave difffrent stuff.  I want the best item instead of jumping in and getting the first pre-order I find.

Relax, my friend. I'm sure there will be a number of pre-order gifts and incentives to be had in the UK as well.

I'm just suprised that Gamestop has already put this up on their site. Personally, I'm still waiting to pre-order until I know what the other retailers will be offering...

If Cryptic's past launch day promotion efforts are any indication, then you can bet we'll see different perks through different companies. There were several different pre-order perks for Champions Online.

I'm hoping for a nice Klingon ship/item perk somewhere, as I plan to play KDF primarily.

I'm sure there will be. Champions Online had different incentives for Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, Walmart, and Steam (plus a few others I think). So I think it's safe to say we'll probably see the same outlets having promotions again for this game.

That's GREAT news for me! I'm a huge fan of TOS and love the Constitution class. I have to wonder if the refit style would be available under the customization controls.

It's gonna be a blast to roam the bridge and other areas once interiors are added.

Wait, I thought that STO was taking place at the turn of the 25th Century... other than nostalgia, why would you want an original Constitution-class ship?

You answered your own question. The devs have stated in the past that you can have multiple ships so having a Conny wont cripple your game play at all.

Yeah, but people are talking about using it for the starting levels... won't that put you at a tremendous disadvantage?

It is a fair bonus though, because it would not be an immense tactical advantage but it is something any fan wants.

I wonder... the questions will only be answered when the game is release, I think.

It may if you decide to use it. The starting ship is supposedly a Miranda Class so the Constitution is about it's equivalent even if it is a bit older. It may make a decent starter ship but I'm sure it's going to be a 'bonus' ship so you'll probably still have the Miranda to fall back on if things don't work out.
