It just wouldn't pull in people, and would not be economicly sound for EA to do that. People who are still obessed with this games old drawn out game play have moved on to free servers and have lost the dream of EA ever trying to do a rebuild of code that has been dead for about 8 years.

Ah, the mindset of the WoW generation, so sad. You just dont get what made UO good and why there are still so many people who want to play the classic version of UO, it was gameplay. It was great. You see, the old UO players cant stand the current item slave generation of games like WoW, AoC, WAR, etc etc etc. We want REAL SOILD gameplay that was offered by old UO.

Those who have moved onto the free servers are only there because EA isnt offering the UO they want to play. If EA were to offer classic servers, people would come back and play. Hell, thats what people have been calling for on the stratics UO forums for years, ever since Trammel. Seige Perilous was NOT a recreation of old UO. It was a sorry excuse that was made rediculously hard to deter people from wanting PvP servers.

As for UO being "dated" I have met players on AoC, WoW, LOTRO, WAR who would all abandon these so called up to date games and go back to UO, play in 2d, just so they could have the game play experience they have wanted for years.

UO remains my first love and all time favorite mmo.  That being said, there would have to be -something- new about it because I pretty much did it all back in the day.  Just coming back to do the same exact thing as before wouldn't keep me for much more than a month.

I actually stayed playing and enjoyed it almost through Mondain's Legacy, I think mostly because I love the top down view.  Sadly, the items over skill model, lack of players, and uselessness of my little store finally turned me off enough to quit.

I do hope they re-invest in UO, how I miss the cackling laugh of a lich, the babbling of the gargoyles, or the pathetic sound of the mongbat dying from your drive by autoattack hehe...

Something new? They did the whole something new thing before. Know what we got? AOS. Nah, Id be happy with just britannia and the old T2A rulesets and systems. The players kept things fresh thanks to the freedom offered by UO back then. I did a lot of things back then too, and I was never bored. Whether it was a random attack by a red, or some jerk pulling too many monsters around me trying to get me killed, or chasing down and killing a theif around the bank, there was always something to do. the PvP kept things interesting.

For the longest time I would have came back in a heartbeat. And a lot of has tried to get them to release one. They are hard headed and wont. In 2004 there was a player run shard called IPY - In Por Ylem,,,, I can say that now because its been closed down for many years :P anyhow''s that was a great server and it was full of life. 10x more people on that server at any given time than the main shards.

There was definatly a bunch of people loved the game back then including me and quiet a few friends. But at this point I can't really say if I would go back or not. I think around 2004-5 I gave up even trying to post stuff about it, other than it was my favorite MMO ever from 97-99.

On a side note It seems rather strange we haven't seen an Ultima Online 2 yet. They made 2 attempts at it and scratched them both before release. Strange really I had read where UO2 was 95% done when it was scrapped. I think at this point UO2 would be the answer the game really is to old now to gather much appeal. But who knows :P It rocked at one time.

Uogamers suck ass . It's certaintly not like the T2A era. They have a mix of all the era and they added their own crap (Neon blue beard lol) .Skill raise to fast.Everyone do unattended macro.Everyone's rich. All the Pk's suck ass with those cheesy ass templayes with stun and 1 shot alchemist combo. There's no atmosphere in that shard.i prefeer the second age or Divinity.

Something i want to clarify.Ultima online graphic  sucked even 1997.Hell at first i did not want to play uo because the graphic were just that bad haha. But it's the art .. the atmopshere of the game. The first time you log .. it's look aweful. But it's does not take long to be immersed.

The problem with this generation everyone want insta-gratification.They want to feel right in the bat immersed and want to see real photo-realictic boobies. But it's get old fast.In uo it's all the opposite..it's get better and better and better.

A pre-trammel uo? i would go back right away without thinking once. But ea won't ever do it.They're just plain bad and stupid.

In a heartbeat.  But I would want more...

    1.  A house.  I had one in Brit city limits but I won't ask for that.

    2.  Weapons and armor that won't wear out.

    3.  A Bless deed, one per account per server.

    4.  Seven skills of your choice and 2 crafting skills.

    5.  Power Hour!!!!!

    6.  You start with one gm skill.

    7.  NO BODS!!!!! NO POWER SCROLLS!!!

    8.  Instances with bosses and drops!!!!

    9.  Remove T2A, replace with land that can have houses.  Lots of islands.

    10.  No Trammel, just PK free zones!!  Small but a place carebears can run and frolic!!!

You wouldn't be able to stop me.

But that's if the population was back to how it was.

Also, about "In Por Ylem". I never did get why that shard never re-opened. I understand there was some cataclysm that wiped the whole server but why not start over, from what I hear it was as close to the Origin UO as it's ever been and people had a blast.

If they copied a server and rolled it back to when they had tents I would be there.

Well, at this rate, I dont think EA will put in classic servers. They are intent on destroying UO and ruining it into obilvion.

I would definitely go back. 100%.
