Hey all,
I'm thinking about picking up this game for some, what sounds to be, fun pvp. However, it seems you gotta wait till level 25 to participate in the good stuff. I don't have a lot of time to play these days, so I'm trying to estimate how long it may take me to reach it?
Also, what are the que times like? I won't be playing till 8ish pm eastern standard, so.....
Thanks in advance....
P.S. Also thanks for the answers so far.

should take around a month or two for 5-10 hours a day

10 hours a day?!!!
Er, I'm not even close to that much playtime. I play maybe 2 hours a day and no more than 6 a day on the weekend. I should hit 25 after a little more than a month's playtime.
Depends on how you play really.
Group up, it's possible to "solo" in this MMO, but teaming up with anyone else will get you through much faster.
Got a low level sin and if I solo its pretty much kill mob, bandage and/or pot up.
When i team up its kill half a dozen then bandage and/or pot up.
I really like how they made it solo-able but also not very at the same time.
10 hours a day minimum to get to 25 in about 12 days or so.
To get to max level for a casual player could take upwards of 7-12 months easy.
More or less depdning on how much you wander around daydreaming/exploring and or gathering materials to craft with. Much more if you plan to craft heavily, not becuase of mat farming but money farming to support your startup.

The problem is quest consistancy, not soloability. You can solo your way through the game fairly easily, but I've found (only upto 31 atm) that the game gets rather dry on quests every couple of lvls or so after 20. Part of this is due to the sheer number of quests that are devoted to gathering, rather than lvling.
I'm hoping they are looking to add more quests / increase some of the exp gains for quests post - 20, or else I don't think many people will be able to stay with this game for very long in the western market.
Getting to 25 can go at a pretty decent pace. It's not fast, but it's not typical Korean slow. If you only have a few hours to play you wont notice it really kick in until 35+ where it almost becomes Korean slow. I suspect a lot of people quitting at this point.

leveling steps up alot +30 by alot
I played for 7 days, 12 hours a day.
I got a level25, a level 13, and 2 level10 toon.
It really takes only 60 hours to get from level1-25 if you don't craft.
But I play on the taiwan server. No log in queue and newbie area is empty.
1 to 10 is about 3 hours
10 to 20 is about 15-20 hours
20 to 25 is about 2-3 hours per level, or 10-15 hours
25 to 30 is about 3-4 hours per level and keeps slowing down even more after that.
Basically, 1 to 25 is doable in one session if you can stay awake.
If you are a tank or a healer with bad gear, it will take you a bit longer.
Que?
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
I only played aion for 3 beta weekends, and I played rather sparingly as I continued to raid in WoW and work IRL etc. And I managed to get to level 28 with one character, and had a 2 other level 10s. Leveling seemed rather quick.
Yeah, I'm not sure where some of these people are getting these lengths of time to reach lvl 25 from.
I think Dice's post is probably a pretty fair estimate of how long it would take for an estimate.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Quite honestly the leveling takes a bit. I'm a casual player between full time work and school and social life but I bought it later in the week it came out and am still only at level 14.
As far as ques, maybe I play at different times during the week or what not but I am in the central time zone and have honestly never come across a que.
"God, please help us sinful children of Ivalice.."
This game is not for you. Yes, it has a PVP endgame, but it is a MMORPG. Wow is not a MMORPG. Wow is an abomination. Aion is an MMORPG.
You should check out some titles like Team Fortress 2, or the Battlefield series. You can PVP from level1.

The above post by Dice is a well thought out, accurate post. I would look at it and figure if its something you can manage. I play on one of the new servers (there's 2 for NA) and there is no queue whatsoever.
This post is not well thought out, trollish, and not accurate. Play this game if you wish, even with a few hours a night or whatever you can spare, you can enjoy it at your own time. Also, Aion is no more a MMO than WoW is.
I hit lvl 25 in 5 days. I played no more than 6 hours a day not even that on most of the days. Also my server has zero Qs.
AION is not only a pvp game, its pve too.
For those who only like pvp, are allready crying around because cant pvp since lvl 1, but AION have both features, so u better like both to enjoy the game.
U say the good stuff start at lvl 25?
If u dont enjoy a mmo since lvl 1, u get bored pretty fast. 1-20 is 100% pve (quests, farm, group for elites, whatever u want to do).
20-25 the only pvp u can get is based on rifts.
25+ u can get to Abyss (remember that lvl 25 in Abyss is the lower lvl to walk in there).
A lot of ppl say AION is mainly a PvP game. Well, u CANT avoid PvE here, and u can try avoid PvP (there are territorys that dont have rifts and instances after 28, i bealive).
So, if u are a casual player like me, and if u enjoy any lvl of the game like i do, the game is for you (i dont care how long i take to lvl 50, as long im having fun).
If you come to this game waiting only for lvl 25 and start "the good stuff" like u said, save your money
Its just my opinion, hope it as helped
Edit: forgot about queue times. If u start now, there are new servers with low population, so no queue times for you (at least for now)
