i bought the game expecting a semi open rpg or open rpg.... i dunno if it becomes open after the ridiculously hard linear levels are finished. But atm the later levels are so compact that its hard to move around, i knew it was going to be hard, but the way they made it hard wasnt what i was expecting either. Anyways thats all i have to say atm.

EDIT: btw by open i mean more free roaming.

Seriously after watching gameplay footage, how could you possibly expect this would be an open world game? You could have easily saved yourself dissapointed if you did a tiny bit of research on the game.

well the back of the box said:

Design your character from class and weaponry all the way down to facial features(check). Then, decide whether to progress with the story or chart your own path through the open world.  Note how it says Open World? And Chart your own path? Neither of which i've seen in the game so far.

    also, from gamestops website:

Freeform and flexible—The open-ended structure of the game means that there is no single path, but rather a wealth of options. Set your own pace and progress as you like.

How much more research do i need to do to find out that the game isnt an open world, or free roaming? Even some of the posters here mentioned it in the threads about the game. I only expect lies coming from mmorpg games... consoles usually play as advertised. Anyways, this will be going back within the next 7 days, chalk up another "Meh" for the PS3 library.

It's strange that the game is advertised that way when it's obvious by looking at the gameplay videos that the game is linear.

Either way, not an open world doesn't mean it's a bad thing,  it's currently holding a 9.0 score on metacritic, definitely looking forward to playing it.

tbh i may have been a little rough in the last post. The game is pretty fun, although not the game i was looking for.  What is true is that its extremely hard, especially if you're not playing some heavily armored class. I wouldnt want to take it back if they had some customizability either. The shops dont have much besides upgrading your weapons, everything else on the shop is just a few generic weapons and a shield with some mp and hp pots. There are 0 armor pieces on the shops, which atm is leading me to believe that the armor you start with is going to be the same armor you finish the game with.

EDIT: also i havent been able to sell anything, so you have to throw most of the weapons you find in the warehouse (or i think its called the "stockpile"). What i guess i'm trying to say is, i would have also liked more rpg elements as far as developing your character's gear.

Have you tried playing it online though? The online mode looks really unique which is really the main reason i'll be picking it up.

not yet, and i usually dont until i beat the game first... also the internet i have atm is pretty terrible, so i would just be lagging everyone else up. It is another feature that looks like it would work as shown... tbh the open endedness is the only feature that the game doesnt have that it advertised.

Well thats probably the reason you're not enjoying it as much because you're not taking advantage of any of the unique capabilities.

fixed your post. It's the only thing i really have no desire to use.... It's my personal preference to play online only in FPSes or fighting games like mortal combat or armored core. I like to figure out the story and etc of RPGs .... and not let people lead me around who know the level already. Dunno, you may enjoy it, i really didnt like the combination of things the game lacks from my earlier posts.

There isn't much in the way of armor, but there are a few sets that you can get off of bosses, NPCs, hidden areas unlocked through Pure Black/White world tendency, etc. It is possible to go all the way with your starting armor, though. Especially if you started as a knight, since Fluted armor is the tits.

All the good weapons are either obtained through upgrading or found on NPCs/bosses, areas unlocked through WT shit, etc etc etc etc

would just like to give a quick update on my experiences so far. I tried the multiplayer part and it was much funner although they restricted it. You can jump in other people's games and play with them (or kill them) to go through a level or defeat a boss... problem is that if you go into their world it does nothing to advance your game, it only advances their progress, so what that means is you can run a whole level with someone else but once you finish your back at square 1 while they have moved on. It's fun sure, but after the first time i did it i never bothered with it again because it didnt help me one bit in progressing. The little pvp in the game (where you jump into another players world and kill them) was fun but very laggy and after the first couple times it just gets boring. Gamestop wouldnt give me a refund so its up on ebay, even the heralded features have a catch.
