My pick for the worst game of the year

odelldanieljodelldanielj Member UncommonPosts: 25

This is easily going to take top prize for the worst game of the year if it is released looking anything like it does right now.  This game should, easily,  be F2P.  Who the hell is going to pay 40 bucks plus 15 bucks per month for this turd?  The game play is horrible, the questing is tiresome, the graphics are god awful.  They can try to put as much shine as they need to on this game, but when they are done polishing it will still be a turd.  For god sakes you can go play runes of magic for free, and it beats this game hands down.  There is zero good I can say about this game at this point, and since it releases in like a week I'm sure it's going to suck just as bad at release.  By all means, if you really want to get fucked out of 40 bucks up front and 15 bucks per moth there after buy this game.  Id rather get a blow job from a cheese grater personally.

I find the graphics to better than WoW's, except for the character's and their animations.  The quests are so-so...go out and kill this...deliver this...same ole, same ole.  Is it worth the price of admission....no, but it's far from crap, imo.

the character graphics are worse than old pre-luclin eq ffs.

This man is not lying, its like a mutation of WoW and EQ put together, and take mutation as a bad term. This game is terribad.

To be honest I don't see how they are going to release this and not get sued by Blizzard. I know we all say "this is such a WoW clone," but literally this is completely ripped off. They use almost everything down to the font. The talent tree even look exactly the same with some icon changes and description changes.

This to me looks like WoW closed beta. IMO your better off NOT paying for this game and just wait for Allods which is 100x better and is FREE.

Is there any real point to the OP's attempt to start a flamewar? If you are in the beta and have a reason for your opinion, good for you. You are still under NDA so can't post constructive criticism, so we get your...what was this exactly? A goodbye and fare thee well post?

Alganon will launch on Oct 31st. They have stated that it's a go live, period. Let them stand or fall on their own merits. I have some comments to make myself, which I can once NDA is lifted. Before then, worthless flamerant.

  • xenoracexenorace Member UncommonPosts: 205

lol what are they going to do..Sue the OP for breaking the NDA? Have fun with that, meanwhile getting manhandled by Blizzard's lawyers. Ya, they will have bigger things on there plate then somebody in a forum saying how crappy their game is.

I 100% agree with the OP and I never felt so strongly on how bad a game was before launch then this one. Starting a flamewar on a game that is questionable is one thing, but anything bad ANYBODY can say about this game is pretty true.

On a positive note to Alganon, the study system is kinda neat.

P.S. WoW friend told me that Alganon is VERY close to a boss in WoW, Algalon....weird. <have to take his word since I don't play WoW>

I could not agree more with the OP they are close to launch and you cannot even figure out how to hit the ACCEPT button on the intial splash screen without changing your settings to a crazy high rez (my desktop icons were microscopic) the game does not set or reset for this you have to figure this out.

Just logging in is like playin the lottery...maybe you will maybe you wont

The characters look awful like a copy of wow monsters from southern hell

The gameplay is completely predictable..... I have no idea who this game is marketed for? Perhaps developmentally delayed adults woud enjoy it if they cannot wow....as wow is considerably more stable. This is not a beta bump here and there.... its a struggle to LOG IN for god's sake.

Just when I thought no one could out do the Chronicals of Spellborn in the bore and stutter catagory.... here is Alganon which just has to mean crap in some foreign language. Plz folks...don't waste your time... hell Runes of Magic is free and kicks this games ass.  As for me  its back to Fallen Earth....buggy but at least fun and different.

To be fair, you can't give them the worst game of the year award yet. There are still six days left for sanity to prevail and the launch to be delayed until the game is actually playable.

Yep and they have copied this from EVE.. This game is a plain joke, they just copy and paste things from other game game and voila a new game... The animation is horrible, you can take only 2 race, and 4 class like many F2P games.

Ah, the point is OP isnt just bashing as it seems (by reading everydays´s bashings on this forum), the game does seem (at least in its current state) very poor (compared to the mainstream P2P games). So the only  thing( i belive)that could attract players for this game would be the comunity factor, who IS helpfull and polite ( to this moment) .

hope i made myself clear this time =)

To be honest, if it's as bad as folks seem to think, I can't imagine WoW would bother suing. That would just give Alganon publicity and cost Blizzard money to bring the lawsuit.

I'll confess to never having played it, but I think "worst game of the year" might be a stretch. However, I think that when you charge $50 and $15/month you're setting premium expectations. I bet folks would be a lot more forgiving had they started out with more modest goals.

I played the beta for a few days. I don't think that I am breaking the NDA by stating that IMO launching this game in 6 days is ridiculous. The company must be under financial constraints is the only reason that I can figure. Its a shame when the accountant has more power than the development team. I would really liked this game to have been successful. A small independent studio with a first time hit is what is needed to shake up the MMORPG industry.

I agree. It would have been nice to see a smaller company come out of no where and have a successful title on their hands. I really want to play this game at launch, but time is running out for the developers to make the game playable come launch. I am going to leave it at that before I say anything that breaks the NDA...

    Sad times ahead...

I also agree. I don't think one person that visits this site wants the fail of a game. After all what did the company and game do to us? Hearing about this game I was kinda excited. The screen shots didn't show anything fancy, but the way the devs were describing the game made me want to play it.

I tried the beta a few times...

All I'll say is... I can't believe the same man who dreamed up Horizons (the MMO it was supposed to be; not the one it became)  is the same person behind Alganon. Forgetting all the drama and chaos surrounding it, even Horizons as it came out was something different... had its own "feel" and was trying to be its own game (in a manner of speaking). It was, and still is, a far more interesting MMO, in my opinion.

Alganon... well... yeah. I'll just agree with many of the comments in this thread. I sincerely applaud David Allen's persistence in not giving up to see a MMO to fruition and I'm not foolish enough to think developing a MMO is any small task.  However, from what I've seen of what his imagination is capable of conjuring up in Horizons (again, execution notwithstanding), I think the man could have created *far* better and original, than Alganon.

hate to say it but i have to agree, i was very much looking forward to the game after reading about how gms controlled the gods roaming around in the game. the graphics i've never liked but could get use to if it came through on the game play/pvp. i logged in last night for little bit at like 12am, there was no one around in the area i was in. mobs and NPCs took probably a full minute to appear on the screen, then when they did they all hitched and rubber banded all over.

i tried fighting a few mobs, attack one, it stayed way out there just walking like nothing was going on. i would be taking dmg as if it was right there attacking me, sometimes i would lose LoS in a open field and mob popped behind me. the game is more like very early beta rather than a game to be released in like a week? there is noway this game is even close to being ready for launch, as some one else said they must be on a deadline and its do or die. i could excuse the lagg/hitching to a point if it was absolutely packed and people all over the place where i was. i mean as far as i could see looking in all directions there wasn't a single person near me, and i did pan the camera around jic i was missing some big siege going on or something. could be a good game but if they release it as is, there is no hope. the game could be good with time but seems they can't wait.

For the same reason Blizzard did not get sued by SOE?There is another game right now called Runes of Magic that is also a direct copy. The only thing that sets these games apart from EQ is the Quest/dailies ,witch IMO is far more boring than grind killing mobs.I would rather kill a million mobs any day than running back and forth between npc's.Dailies is a cheap form of advancement to make up for a poorly designed game,no other reason for it.
