I can not figure out why this game is getting such good reviews and scores it is one of the worst games I have ever bought.
I should have know how things where going to go when I opend my game and found no disk inside. ( to look at it now I can not believe I was up set at that, it was probaly the best part of the game to not have it.)
I bought it at gamestop and have had nothing but trouble getting a copy to replace the one I did not get only threat of law suit and quoting a michigan statute that I would be suing them under to their head office and legal department got any action( kind of )will be getting my copy as soon as they get more stock in.
My friend gives me his to try out and just tells me to keep it, should have know some thing was up.
They say this game is hard I do not see it at all, except for the OP bosses, mini bosses and random creatures they through in that they feel shoul be OP, this game has no level dificulity at all.
The computer AI or lack their of is a joke you can stand and shoot 1 mob and have another right next to it as it get's hit and dies and it does not react at all, mobs will take a direct path to you literaly so if their is say a huge open winding stair way all you have to do is run in and make the turns and watch the mob drop to its death as it tries to take a strait line for you rather then going around like you did, mobs also will get stuck on terain with out going around to so you can basicly have a table infront of you and range over it as the mob tries to run through it but can not.
Game machanics are broke for you but work fine for the mobs, if you are a caster your spells have a optional lock on as do all attacks its just like using the tab button in most mmo's but your spell may have a range of 100ft but your lock on is like for 15ft for you but for the mobs it locks on at like 200ft , you can then try to LOS and range with magic but that works 1 out 10 times as what looks to be a strait line will not be, you will watch you spell fly wide right or left like a shanked kick even if you are on a bridge not even wide enuff to have two charcters standing side by side this will happen and you can not just simply adjust your facing by simpling turning slight right or left your charcter turns drasticly even at the slightiest of touches to turn.
Looting, if you happen to become encumbered and loot static treasure drops you do not get a option to pick wich ones you want to take and if you leave they are gone when you come back you litteraly could lose out on getting some of the best gear in the game if you do not know this.
You should basicly know how the game is going to go when the tutoril boss is ment to kill you and if you do manage to kill him you have to go get your death blow from their main boss you fight latter on its a basic just die and get use to it thats what is supose to happen in this game you die to OP mobs and bosses and repeat till you beat them.
They have what they call souls in this game it is your xp and cash to buy and upgrade equipment and spells its what you get for killing mobs here are the 2 huge down sides 1. you can not sell your old equipment or any equipment. 2. if you die you lose all your souls you did not spend.
Then they have world tendancies basicly what ever happens on the server during the game for good or for bad alters the zones alignment and based on that alignment and your personal alignment X can happen or not this is also glitched and even if it where not very anioning to say the least.
Splice dragons lair, mortal kombat, and the grit your teeth factor of old NES contra together and you have this game.
Atlus games has a track record of putting out games that get high reviews and game scores, but fail at sales and become all but forgoten within a few months of release this is no exception here just another failed altus game.
Dragon age origins comes out next month by bioware a company with a proven track record of puting out solid quality RPG's save your money and skip this game ( you probaly can not even rent it because block buster and hollywood video probaly do not even stock this garbage game.) and wait for that.

Atlus games are forgotten? You seem to have mistaken your own opinion for what is actually going on.
Go to any mainstream gaming community and you'll find lots of RPG players praising Atlus games still. Heck, Atlus 3 released a special edition due to high popularity of the game.
Atlus has a big track record of releasing unique, high quality games and Demons Soul is no different. Ofcourse if you're more into generic Dungeons & Dragons RPG, you'll probably favor Bioware.
what other games has atlus developed?
Playing: EVE Online
Favorite MMOs: WoW, SWG Pre-cu, Lineage 2, UO, EQ, EVE online
Looking forward to: Archeage, Kingdom Under Fire 2

Take out all the D&D games they have put out, we will go with dragon age origins VS demon souls you think demon souls will be a better over all game? sell more copies? have a longer staying power on the market? I do not think so.
Do tell what are the atlus must have's for every RPG fan out their?
Because I have not heard of one must have atlus game till demon souls came out and if this is their crowning jewel it looks more like a peice of shit then a daimond.
I do not play console game's much at all but even I have heard of mass effect, and dragon age origins CE is sold out at gamestop, and blockbuster, I could have got a CE of demon souls days before release so what is their mass effect? other then demon souls that I could walk into a gamestop and say "hey you got this game?" and the sales guy is going to tell me ya and go on a rant on how great it was and how it was a must have like mass effect.
Ofcourse Bioware games sell better because their target audience is much larger. There are a lot more people interested in games with generic dungeon and dragon settings like Baldurs gate and Dragon Age then there are in games with unique settings.
Atlus is more of a publisher than it is a developers. They are best know for their Shin megami Tensei games, which is actually more of a brand. The most well known shin megami tensei series in the west is probably the Persona series. The Persona series have been a bit low profile untill the release of Persona 3, which made the series a big deal due to its unique setting and high quality.
How much you have heard of Atlus depends how much attention you pay to japanese games. Atlus is big on bringing in niche japanese games to the west.
OK that would exlpain it thank you.
When I was younger I used to oreder special games for my consoles from japan (back on the super nintendo and N64) mainly like robotech and macross.
I always wanted to get their RPG's as they have for the most part always put out more and better quality RPG's for consoles then their US based counter parts as the demands in japan and the US are diffrent US consoles is sports and FPS's while japan is RPG's but when you get their RPG's they do not come translated to english and even tho playing the game from a knowing what buttons do what stand point if you can not understand the story line it kills playing a RPG.
well at least the shin megami tensei series is still good
and they managed to create an mmo for it
i'll be avoiding demon souls for now XD
I bought Demons souls to play while waiting on Dragon Age.
I must say while not a prefect game I personally find it alot of fun.
each to their own i guess.
I thought Demon soul's was pretty good.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
Demons Soul's is an amazing game it helps if you play for more then 20 minutes just so you know.
