I applied to beta after seeing the vid caps.
I had flashbacks to playing MECHWARRIOR all those MANY years ago.
Looks pretty good in the Vids! I hope it works.
Anyone know anything about the company?
I have wanted someone to make a good Mechwarrior MMO forever!

Never heard anything about that game before now. Damn, is a good Mechwarrior mmo needed or what?

With all the lore and all the worlds and all the factions and all the GREAT STUFF! It has always seemed to me that the Mechwarrior world would be a perfect fit for the MMO world. It just seems tailor made for a MMO.
I'm not sure if you've made it into beta or not. Invites are ongoing, but a bit slow due to some bugs. The devs are working hard to resolve them and add more people on a first come, first serve basis.
Is this a Mechwarrior MMO? No, it's not really MW, although everything is done in mechs. It's not EVE, either, despite a lot of similarities. It is an open-world MMO without classes or levels.
Been playing for about a week and.....I LOVE THIS GAME......I am so looking forward to the future on this game
It's November now, and I am getting very excited about this game. It seems like every mech game since the mechwarrior series has just been a watered down reiteration of the same thing (barring the very fun RTS style mech games of the late 90s), and Perpetuum seems to be breaking from that trend! As a longtime mech fan I am anticipating new info. I also am partial to many of the mechanics of the game (classless approach) and hope to participate in some form of beta, either open or closed, shortly.
Interface looks pretty cool:

- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
Same here, ive been a HUGE battletech fan! I am very much waiting for their release.
not an official game of the mechwarrior franchise, but its probably much more entertaining. we already made a weapon dealer cartel with some other testers, and its sooo awesome!

It's pretty darn close to Eve. As a former Eve player, I sat down with this game and instantly recognized the UI to be pretty much identical. Targeting and firing weapons works just like in Eve, the docking screen and all of its menus and their functionality is identical. Combat is slightly improved over Eve because you have to manually control your movement. But besides the setting change, it's very close to Eve.
Looks interesting! I still launch DOSBox and play the old mech warrirors from time to time
- Case: Thermaltake Kandalf Black Chassis
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (OC'd 4.2GHz on Water Cooling)
- Memory: Mushkin 8Gb (4x 2Gb) DDR3 1600Mhz
- HDD: Dual Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM
- GFX: (2) XFX Radeon HD 5870 in CrossFire - New upgrade!

Thanks for the heads up!
A mechwarrior game is needed, PERIOD. A MMO would be terrific.
I checked out some vids on this game.
This game looks pretty cool, but one thing bugs me about it, that has bugged me about almost every mech game since MW4.
The illusion of being in a huge, towering mech simply isn't there. You still have trees that tower over you, and in one video, they had spider-mechs whose legs moved ridiculously fast; this totally destroys the illusion of "bigness" just makes you feel like you're a man-sized robot with lots of guns. This is something that Microsoft failed on as well, when they took over the franchise.
They're in early beta. They have time to address this and hopefully will. Hopefully they'll have city areas which will show the scaling better.
I like the destructible objects... that's essential to a mech game.

There's only so many ways to design a UI. Does that mean World of Warcraft or Dark Age of Camelot is a copy of EverQuest? Does this mean that Windows is a copy of the Mac? It might look like a duck and even have some similar mannerisms, but that doesn't make it a duck. (After all, it doesn't quack.)
That's because you're not in a huge, towering mech. The smallest one is about the size of a motorbike, the largest (currently in-game with stats) are the size of a bus if you stood it up on end. Even in BattleTech, if I recall the stats on the tallest mechs, they were only 40 meters or so. The light mechs were only 10-20 meters, which is shorter than the average deciduous forest. Basically, that's what you are 'piloting' in many cases: a robot. (Light robot, Assault robot...)
Same here.

Sorry, but BattleMechs, regardless of tonnage, are only 10-14 meters tall.

Ah... good to know. I guess that's a big minus for me, then. There's a big difference in the feel of a game in a 40 meter mech than, say, a 10 meter one. At least, there should be(thanks, Microsoft...).
From Wiki:
BattleMechs range in height from 7 to 17 meters (23 to 56 feet) and mass from 20 to 100 tonnes (22 to 110 short tons) in five-ton intervals, with some capable of ground speeds in excess of 150 km/h (90 mph). Mechs have a torso that can rotate to either side independently from the legs, but few can do a complete 360 twist. Their power is drawn from fusion reactors and are best suited for ground combat, although they are also capable of limited performance underwater and in outer space.
So yeah, from about 2-6 stories tall. Seems like I recall MW2 mechs being bigger, or maybe it just felt that way cuz the game was so friggin' cool.
These robots look more like the old Starseige ones more than the FASA Battletech ones.
Sadly, this is definitely *not* the game so many of us have been waiting for.
Perception is Reality.
You know, they have the MAKINGS of a great Battletech/Mech Warrior game but I see a few issues.
The lore behind it is not Battletech/Mech Warrior, so that part, and one of the better parts about this type of game, is out of the window.
If only somehow they could get the rights.
MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.
The background story is pretty good IMO. But people need to realize this is not a FPS mech game. WHile is has Mechs and robots it is not a aim and shot type game. Third person view only with weapon modules you have to activate after locking target.
