Battleswarm: Fields Of Honor (Open Beta) is active for quite some time.
I would like to hear what the MMORPG.com community thinks about this online FPS vs RTS game.
I my latest blog post, i described my impresions about this unique game.
What do you think about it?

Haven't played it (yet) but I think it's a cool idea really captures the "hive vs the individual".
The game was dead when I tried it last week. There were about 5 people in the lobby, and it took me 30 minutes or more just to make a match
Unique upcoming indie space-based mining and combat game - Miner Wars.

Maybe you were off the peak time. Since there is one server all timezones play there. The most I waited for the match was 5 minutes tops.
Hello,
There are many maps in Battleswarm with different types of games to play, once the game goes live there will be even more types of maps. So sometimes you'll need to be a little patient when waiting for a full group, as the playerbase is a little limited at this moment due to the fact that we're still in beta phase.
You can also join a guild or create one yourself, so you can join games with pre-made teams. This way you'll be playing in no- time!

Definitely an interesting concept. Looks like fun, actually.
I have played it. The game is fun and all, but there are definitely balancing issues that need to be worked out. Some bugs are considerably stronger than others, and the FPS guys tend to get slaughtered. At least it's fun.
Well, I've read your write up and it hits most points about the game. I played it for a bit myself, and its actually fun and good enough that I've kept it installed on my PC. The one thing the game does need is a bit of a better tutorial when it comes to being on the bug/rts side. It doesn't even hit on the fact that you can set the hives to Auto produce units and that in combination with the Waypoint system you can keep the puny humans scrambling. When it comes to being a hybrid this game really does give you a great feel for it. Say you target a person with an incoming AOE ability. With a normal RTS the little man is going to just keep walking in a straight line right into your fireball of death, not so in Battleswarm.... You'll find yourself cursing when the little SOB starts jinking or just takes off in a completely different direction, why? because thats a real body on the other side and it makes strategy enthralling.
Also as a human, you think you're hidden well? Nope, remember the bugs have an eye in the sky view so you aren't ambushing anything. Enjoying being rambo and parking in front of a hive and slaughtering the freshly created bugs as they trickle out one by one? Check your six because the person on the other end of that hive has just parked about 40 of them behind you from a different hive and is about to play volleyball with your head. Oh, and Bunkers are your friend if there are just too damn many bugs out there, hop inside one and fire away and start tossing grenades. If you happened to place a mine or 3 in front of it and the entry paths to the base at the start of the match even better.
As for finding a battle? looking at the ones going on makes it pretty easy, don't just sit in the map you want to play, there are multiple options and while one map may have no games starting another can have a game starting every 20-30 seconds as people join it.
I'd have to say If you like RTS games give it a shot, if you like FPS games give it a shot, If you like both you should reaaaaally take a look at it.
Some very fun and very manic gameplay. Really enjoying playing both bugs and soldiers.
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
Awful, hectic, and horriby dumbed down game. Very unbalanced, very little room for strategy. Graphics are beyond outdated. Need I say more ?
