What made me quit today.

trillahtrillah Member CommonPosts: 158

I came back with the 14 days trial period. Was having a lot of fun since friday night and was playing a newly created char on tortage, he was lvl 13. Went in the underhall and crash. No big deal, I restarted the client and made the database check to make sure everything was in order.

Big suprise! The client is making me re-download the whole 5.7 go of patch I just did 2 days ago. What a joke. Bye bye.

Don't delete game yet. It is a bug. Forgot how it is fixed though

You were having lots of fun with the game, then suddenly you come up with that issue and decide to quit rather than look for any forums for fix. WTF :D

Man.. If I did a rage quit for every time the client or patcher screwed me over on an MMO... I would have no MMO's to play. Even the "mighty" WoW has many problems in this area. Hell, I needed to do a full uninstall, and manual file removal and THEN install from the discs all over again because even the downloadable client wouldn't work one time. The patching would error out at a certain point on a file, it would want to revert, it would revert, claim that repairing it was too much of a task (too much to fix) and start patching from 3.0 (WotLK install point) and patch up to 3.1xxx and then bam, error. Time to start over. Repeat til you puke.

Thats not a good reason to quit OP.I have issues here and there also. Find a solution 1st and if your having trouble contact funcom.

well good sir, I played aoc before and stick with it even with the bad launch and all the other ''stuff'' attach to it. If after all this time they cant get it right I dont want to stick around to withness more faillure. My play time is limited and when I do have time to play I dont want to get hit with a 2h patch. To be perfectly clear, I LOOKED at the funcom forums and found only a few post about my problem WITH NO ANSWER. Remember , they came knocking at my door saying hey come check our game out for free! So please try to be polite when responding to someone or dont post at all.

Don't quit so quickly.  It is almost like giving up on sex because there is too much undressing involved.  Post a message on the age of conan forums to get help, alternatively contact support directly

There is a pop up box on the basic patcher where you can uncheck download full game. That fixes it. Unless of course you did that, and it's playing silly buggers.

If you got a fast internet just d/l the 5.7Gb overnight. Or reinstall the game you only need to d/l 3GB+.

Bye Bye -- Don't Let the Door Hit You On The Way Out

You obviously have something else to play as you had no problem with the content/flavour of the game, but quit due to some technical issue. When your Windows crashes do you then install Linux? Meh........................

This is a truly worthless post. Quit a game for its lack of merits, faults, bugs, or lack of fun, not because of an installation/update issue. Why not try asking for help next time?

Personally, I still think AoC wins my "coaster" award for being the least delivering, over-hyped MMORPG to date (I still like WAR more for some odd reason); I quit AoC many, many moons ago.

I DO think its a very valid reason to unsub for the game. I would have done that too.

Its a pretty severe bug to have players being forced to download to whole bloody game everytime it crashes.

Every time it crashes? This bug is a 1/1000 chance at WORST. Hyperbole soup anyone? It's the best in the world!

Do you uninstall Windows when that crashes.

Due to ignorance would you deny yourself a gaming experience, well I guess back in the day people were afraid to go to far out to sea in case they fell off the side of the earth.

What most probably happened is that the OP started the db check, saw that it was taking too long, crashed it( due to impatience), restarted the game to find that it did not run, due to corupt software. Of course he won't write that here. Talk about doing yourself out of a good thing.

If by "gaming experience" you mean broken game mechanics, bugs, crashes and empty servers, i would say his "ignorance" paid off.  It takes a "special" kind of person to put up with and pay money for such "game experiences".

I maybe wrong but are you comparing AOC to Aion?

I played Aion for a month and rarely did I see any bugs. Gameplay was pretty lame and grindy but it is extremely polished.

Well you are playing a FUncom game...the good news is patches and new stufff is few and far between. @ the person who said quit over merits......umm this game still has crashing issues?

Funcom has reviewed all of its assets relevant for
impairment testing. This process has led to
recognition of an impairment loss of around
3,1 MUSD for Age of Conan due to a decrease in
numbers of subscribers for the game. Funcom Q4 10 report.

He generalized mmo, he wasnt referring to just Funcom. Ive had patcher issues in nearly all mmo's Ive played at some time or another.

This post brings back nightmare of CoH/CoV for me.

It seemed that every other patch, I would be forced to DL 3 to 5 gigs just so I could play.

It didn't make me quit, but it didn't exactly make me excited about future patches either.

Nope, I am comparing WoW (Coca Cola) with Aion (Coca Zola)

Extremely polished ... it is polished since it was released a year + ago and added nothing new to the picture. Don't award companies just for "a game being polished" - it will end up every game developing nothing new, just being a refurbished old WoW ... polished one!
