So if you've been playing MMORPG's online for a long time I have a trivia question for you. All I ask is that if you do know the answer do not give it away. If you don't go ahead and post what you think a Mun is.

Lol I honestly have no idea what a Mun is. Not even a guess.
I have to bump this just because now I'm bloody curious.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
My first MMO was EQ2, played it for a month, and went to WoW, that was really the first one I actually learned to play.
So in most MMORPG players eyes I've got no opinion on any MMORPG, period.
EDIT - Basically saying I've got no clue what it means.
Playing: World Of Warcraft
Resting From: Nothing
Retired: EQ2, CoH, Tabula Rasa, SWG, Warhammer, AoC
Waiting For: SWTOR, APB
Love(d): Tabula Rasa, SWG, World Of Warcraft, Age of Conan
My only guess is that she means MUD?
I can remember the term being thrown around and I think it's from EQ 1.
EQ 1 was a second gen MMO. :-|

No idea what a Mun is. MUD I do know but I don't know what a Mun is. I started online gaming in a MUD in 97 along with Quake, switching to UO in 99.
EQ1 first mmo, never bothered with MUDS they seemed stupid.
I thought so at first too, but she's been a member here for far too long to not know what a MUD is. Besides the OP would have been edited by now.
What the heck is a Mun???

Letters seems to be similar to mud but to be honest I dont know.
Btw even old schoolers may not know what it means. Because terms change their meaning over time or some people (like me) dont care much about terms as we go more for single content or use microphone or playing with RL friends and not using most of terms.
For example "PP". As I know originaly it mean Please Party, later it ment simply Party as in "I am in pp now", later it got even another meaning but I wasnt paying attention...
P.S. Checked the inet and found one meaning, if that is, I guess it wasnt used too much. Maybe in UO or MUDS..
I don't know what Mun stands for, but I started with Meridian 59 in 1996. I think that's pretty old school.
Neverwinter Nights on AOL back in '91-'92. I remember my dad wasn't pleased with the $100+ phone bill due to the game fees.
And keep guessing, guys. You'll eventually get it.

pong
i win the epeen contest woot!
Not unless you were playing pong online on ARPANET ( the precursor to the internet ).

maybe
Well, not considering BBS.. Asheron's Call was my first.
EQ and MU online.
I will answer this tomorrow. So tune in tomorrow, same time, same bat channel.
First, Mun means nothing, you made that up but nice try I give you that.
The correct question should of been 'Do you know what a MuD is?' Which I do which tells my age, heh.
Wrong. Keep trying.
And yes, I know the answer. But i promised not to give it away, so you'll find out from Teala tomorrow.

You are wrong. Some people have all ready e-mailed me the answer. And no...Mun is Mun and MuD is MuD. Two totally different things. ^_^
Wrong. Keep trying
Then tell us, or you gonna do the whole "nah i'll wait till she reveals it shtick so i sound smart"
If only a few people ever used the acronym it doesn't make it something. If me and my friends used JuN but no one else did it is not common enough to technically be anything.
That being said the first one I spent any real time in was The Realm, then moved to UO on it's launch then EQ and AC and been playing most big releases since then.
Gotta love the suspense

Well I used to RP in AOL chats way back in the day during middle school and high school. We used the term Mun (short for mundane) to symbolize the person behind the character, the player that's controlling their character.
Yeah, I was playing Neverwinter Nights on AOL, too. Along with Terris, Gemstone, and Legends Of Kesmai. I was also into various chatroom/BB RPGs that I can't remember the name of for the life of me. I've been unhappily jumping from MMO to MMO with little to no long term interest since then.
Huh... pretty sad if I stop and think about it.
Well you can always look it up. I think I found it on urbandictionary.
However while some of us might've started in the days between EQ and WoW, Asherons Call 2 player here, that doesn't automatically discount us from being old school in all games.
(does here though and unless you want back to the very beginning then I guess you have me)
I've started playing video games since Coleco, Intellivision, Atari 2600, and the days of playing some games off floppies.
(There's even older than that with video games)
Just a bit of perspective.
