As a matter of fact, yes I do. Anyone with business acumen would consider long term gains as preferable over short-sightedness. Anyone who attempts to justify the imminent release as the result of a lack of funds is only demonstrating the lack of acumen within QoL's ranks.
Furthermore I would go as far as to say that people who are pushing for this game to go live on the 1st of December do not care about the long-term future of the game, and from my perspective that is just sad and unfortunate. Those who really care to make Alganon a success know full-well that postponement of the release date is essential.

Not true at all. It's not a black and white decision. If they wait 6 months or a year they will have more competition and what little excitement and hype might have diminished even more. The current beta testing subscribers might grow bored or find something new. The product will also look more dated and who's to say it will be in a better state than it is today. For example, maybe PvP will be implemented and so buggy that everyone hates it. At least right now the player base is hopeful and full of wishful thinking. You also have to factor in the morale of the dev team, being in crunch mode for so long isn't sustainable. Launching now and getting their 3,000 subscriptions might be better than waiting, spending more cash and only having 1,000 subscriptions. A premature launch could also be an attempt to reduce losses. An investor might decide an additional $300,000 in funding for a six month delay would just mean another $300,000 in losses so launch now so I can get my tax write off for this year. All of my numbers are made up btw.
Personally I think the product has been a disaster from design, implementation to launch. I think the product is in a really bad spot right now. I look forward to reading the postmortem on Gamasutra. It's pretty much a joke outside of the very small community of believers and it's going to be near impossible to get much traction going forward. The month delay doesn't appear to have done much to improve the situation.
That said, I posted on the Alagnon boards that they should delay until May 1st to get the game polished and make a very public statement about listening to their customers concerns. I thought they should close beta to just a handful of loyal testers. I also proposed spinning the game as an exclusive gaming experience with mature players and higher levels of developer interaction (which is what they currently have anyway). Let players vote on bug and feature priorities as well. Then raise the price to $20/month. For their niche, the price isn't a factor and they need the money.
I don't like to see indie developers fail, but part of me thinks this company deserves to because of all the poor decisions they've made. I have no sympathy for the investors or management, but for the sake of the players that like what they see I hope they manage to turn it around and survive.
I have to agree with the above poster, this coming year is going to have some amazing new games coming out and going into the third generation of MMORPGs [see thread at pub explaning the generations] and the wow clones are going to be a thing of the past, only the best like lotro, aion and the like would keep going.
David Allen has never been a good business man. He can go out and get investors like no other - which, to this day, still amazes me due to his high failure rate. So for that, I give the guy absolute credit. But when it comes to managing a business, he falls flat on his face. I'm not following this game too closely so I can't really say for sure. I don't know if he is running the show or not. But I do know that every game that David Allen has been involved with has failed.
Sadly, I'm fairly certain Alganon will probably follow suit of all his other games. I'm not a "Doom-and-Gloom" sorta guy. But history does repeat itself. And David Allen has a long track record of repeated failure. He's a pipe dreamer. And to be honest, I don't think any of his ideas are really that stellar, nor realistic. Infact, all he's really had was one or two great ideas. And he's tried to incorporate them (unsuccessfully) in every game he's attempted to make. Obviously its not working. Or people just don't really like or want it.
This latest endeavor (to try and milk the WoW format) seems to be his last ditch desperate attempt to redeem himself. To be honest, I don't think its going to work (just being real here). I joined in on the beta testing, and there is no way in hell I would pay a subscription to Alganon. We're it F2P, I may have considered it - however, not likely even then. But its in no state to even begin justify a subscription. And I just can't bring myself to "support" David after all the years he's let me down going back all the way to the days of Horizon's (which I loyally stood by them and supported them through all the hardships they endured).
But hey, I wish all you Alganon supporters the best. Its probably gonna be a bumpy ride to say the least.

So instead, they release now, scam a few suckers and then go bankrupt in january 2010.
the game is going to flop regardless if they push it back or not.
Totally agree. Push it back, and push it back some more...but how is this game gonna improve on the sea of WoW clones? And this is the most blatant WoW rip-off I have seen to date. Runes of Magic is free and 10x better than Alganon. That's not saying much.

Nah, they will take the money they can get and then go F2P w/cash shop in Q1 2010.

The only release date for Alganon that would be the correct one would be about 6 years ago.
They need to scrap this project, not push it back.

And instead of selling items, ingame gold, exp, pets etc.....they'll sell instances, bugfixes and other content.
