FFIV looks nice, but just like the other "asian" MMO's it may turn people away from its play style. Myself being one of them. Of course, the franchise name will drag people to it like moths to a flame. Whether they stay there is another matter.
I've never been a GW fan, so I don't follow GW2. Its just not my bag. As for the rumours about Blizzards next MMO, well, until we hear confirmation about the details I'm not going to comment.
A rank "unknown" which I'm personally unsure as to whether it will flop or not, is Funcom's The Secret World. I don't know enough to judge it yet (I refuse to let my opinions about gameplay be swayed by eye candy cgi trailers and the pre-staged screenshots). Until we get to see the gameplay, I'm going to reserve judgement on it. However, it's good to see Ragnar Tornquist at the helm of this one. I personally enjoyed his prelude novel for Anarchy Online "Prophet without Honour", its just a shame that the story has hardly any ties to the actual game because it would have made a brilliant story arc. With Ragnar being a huge story telling fan is a plus, as it means that the game could turn out well in terms of backstory, lore, quest system, etc. But the fly in the ointment for TSW is the company he works for, Funcom. Their track record isn't exactly excellent when it comes to MMOs.
For me the only one that has a possibility of being "big" is SW:TOR, simply because Bioware could learn from SOE's mistakes. On the other hand Bioware, just like any other company, has just as much opportunity to make mistakes in new and interesting ways to cause problems for their product. Personally, I'm trying to remain objective when it comes to SW:TOR. I don't subscribe to the blinkered opinion that some have of "Its Bioware! Remember the KOTOR series? How could they possibly get it wrong!" Yes, they have made good titles before. But thats no guarantee. Brad McQuaid AND Richard Garriot both proved that it doesn't matter what your game making history is, you can still mess it up. Of course, Bioware may turn out like Blizzard, coming from a non-MMO game background and taking the MMO world by storm. Only time will tell.
I personally think SW:TOR will be the next big game. Bioware has a lot going for them and they do not make bad games. I have faith that it will be a very entertaining title.
Next I think Guild Wars 2 will be big. The first one had a huge community and drew in tons of players because it was not subscription-based. The second one has enough improvements on the ideas of the first that I suspect it will be very popular when released.
After those two, the next one will probably be Blizzard's new MMO. We don't currently know anything about this game, but I would be very very surprised if whatever it is does not blow away most (if not all) of the competition on release.
Star Wars: The Old Republic. Also another maybe. I have been following this game for some time has been exciting watching how this game is unfolding. I don't see this game maxing out at 2m subs with a minimal of 500k. Large gap, but with little information all we can do is speculate
Yeah, I just said 2mil cause that's when I would be surprised. If it's as good as it looks, I could easily see it getting 1mil. 500k if it's not nearly as good as it looks, but still ok.
IMHO anyway.
Looks good?Ar we looking at the same game?
I would say it could grab 1 mil off it's name alone but less than 100k on it's looks, probably less than that on it's looks. It might be a large game ,that i don't know but on looks,it is worse than WOW and that is not good.
Are you talking detail, graphics looks? If so....are you blind or just crazy.

Hell even the CG is better.
The cinematic graphics aren't better the terrain is though. WoW doesn't have bad graphics unless you play it on med/low settings.
Who dosen't want to play a GTA-styled game that lets you play cops and robbers against other players?? Not to mention the character customization is the most impressive I have ever seen in any mmo (look on here: www.youtube.com/watch).
I also have high hopes for Mortal Online. Assuming they get the proper ammount of funding to finish fleshing the game out and implenteting all features.
I personally think Aion can be pretty darn good if it lives up to its "Aion Vision" trailer NCSoft released last week. Blizzard's new MMO franchise will be a big one for sure, but that's still a very long ways off.
I doubt SW:TOR will do that well, since anything tagged as "Star Wars MMORPG" has been weakened by the NGE of SWG.
Sadly, it will be the next Star Wars MMO. People will buy it just because its Star Wars and call it a great MMO despite it being basically a single player game with some coop experience (Diablo). They are following in the murder of the genre right behind WoW.
SWG got away with one of the worst launches in MMO history, and some absolutely horrible design decisions, because of the Star Wars name. Now combine Bioware and Star Wars and KOTOR and see just how much they'll get away with.
FFXIV is a big one, idk, prolly not as big as SWTOR or any other TBA MMOs
i know SW:TOR is way more mainstream than FFXIV which probably will still be filled with most of their fans base, but SE has said that FFXIV is made more casually thus, people with no FF background are welcomed to join and will still have fun
anyway, personally, i think SW TOR is what everyone is crazy about right now, i can even feel the immnse line once it is out in retail

No the NGE of SWG weakened anything with the tag "SOE".
Personally I think Swtor has the best chance of being the next big game. Id be happy with about 500k subscribers. Allods really tickled me for a F2p. Really quite fun. Other games I'll be trying are STO and APB. Frankly I dont expect them to be big games, but they will be fun. Im mostly going to play STO to make ships. APB just looks fun hehe.

If by "Big" you mean something like WoW then I hope it never comes.
Last thing we need is another game that waters down the rest of the genre for the next five years.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
A better question. When is the next "fun" mmorpg coming out?
Tribes 2 is back!!!! http://www.tribesnext.com/
And from the makers of tribes: Fallen Empire: Legions http://www.instantaction.com/
amen.

Top 10 Most Misused Words in MMO's

WoW CG is a bit behind on everything. Look a bit harder, small details matter.
I never claimed WoW to look bad. What I did say is SWTOR does look better then WoW and it's not even released or close to it yet.
APB (All Points Bulletin) will probably catch this market by storm... Check it out! www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/358
