Yeah I played this game awhile ago. I think a different company was running it. Not to many people were playing  so  it wasn't that fun. Maybe this time it will get more subs..  It could be a sweet game.

I always like trying out new games or games i could try previously because of PC limitations. I think when I first heard of it you had to pay 15$ a month, im not sure, or maybe 10$ a month. But now its free and the client aint that big. Also its mmo fps which I like.

After seeing the video that comes with the download I must say the new changes they have added and the new content looks far more better than it was. I hope this game takes off because from what I have seen with the changes this could be a real hidden gem in the MMO market.

Yes the graphics look a little dated but I choose gameplay and fun over graphics any day.

The game stinks. It's nothing but a shoot fest. You can't even mine or search the market terminals hardly without someone coming up and ganking ya from behind. And the worst thing about that is when you're doing one of those things you're sorta more or less in total loss of control of your character . Take my word...if a shoot fest is what you want you'd be better off playing Quake Wars or something.... The game stinks.

Idk where the hell you were playing, but the only times I ever get ganked are when I'm in a group of other FDC guys and we have to take down some hostile idiots.

Market terminals are usually safe, save for NYC, and even then, 80% of the time it's safe.

Mining is definitely safe. There's usually a minimum amount of people near the mining terminals, and there are even less now that there aren't mining objectives for groups. That being said, you're probably getting ganked because you stood there so damn long. You don't have to stand at the mining terminal. You start the mining process and it can be accessed by the quickbar next to your gear at the top whenever you want afterwards. It really doesn't make sense to stand there, and so the game doesn't make you. It all goes to your storage in that sector anyways.

Other than being in NYC at a bad time, or not realizing you don't have to stand at a mining terminal, the only other things I can think of are:

    1. You never got set up with your faction, you never communicated with them, and as such, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    2. You pissed someone off.

    3. You strayed away from your group and are one of the newbs that simply doesn't understand that it's the Brotherhood's (BoS) job to kill off random idiots that stray from their group. They're roleplaying those kind of people. Brotherhood of Shadows? Hello, wake up and smell the roses. It's just like the Dark Brotherhood from Oblivion except there are no NPCs in FoM, save the aliens, so players are the victims, and players are the Brotherhood.

Yeah, if 3 is the only thing you're so worked up about, it's safe to assume you're one of the idiots that ran around aimlessly and never asked for help or got on your faction's Vent server.

If it's not your cup of tea, say so, you don't have to say it's a crappy game because you got ganked by the faction who roleplays the idiots that do that sort of thing.

Darkfall's a gankfest, too, ya know. People pay for it. These are twitch-based PvP oriented games. If you don't wanna be a part of the risks, don't play. However, don't trash the game for having those risks.

Forget graphics, which are definetly not 5 years old. This is late 1990s territory lol.  The game has total freedom to do anything, but doesn't amount to much. Very few features, boring as hell missions to get ranks.  If you consider walking around cities that are very small or facing a character for 20 minutes to complete an objective, this game is for you.

Oh and mathias, thanks for bringing up Darkfall, another failure. That game will go bankrupt like this one in a year or 2 also.

So i've been playing the game for a week now, I have to say I really like it.  However, this game is not for everyone.  If you were like myself and getting tired of the current bad crop of mmorpgs, while being a fan of the social aspect of mmos as well as pvp, give this game a try.

This game isn't a tru e MMORPG in the sense of leveling up a character and slaying mobs.  However, it is, without question, both an MMO and a "role playing game" in the sense that you assume an identity and a role online.  Perhaps you will join the LED (police) and patrol around NYC, scanning criminals for drugs, arresting villians, and generally keeping the city clear.  Or perhaps you will be a mercenary, assassinating targets for the highest bidder.

There are no NPCs in this game.  Everyone you meet is a real player.  Players act as the police, military, criminals, crafters, politicians, miners, etc.  Like I said before, this is not a game for everyone.  But if you like MMOs and are tired of the current crop of games as well as the nonstop flood of WoW clones, give this a try.  One of the most fun games I've ever played.

The game is currently down for maintenance as they prepair for retail.  Servers will be down for a day or two, as they fix some of the last issues.  When it goes retail, it will be free-to-play with premium accounts (I don't think the exact details on that have been released yet).  The Open Beta will continue after the servers come back up before the game finally goes retail.

Few days ago I spent a good hour in an abandoned Tokyo.

    Tokyo + abandoned = .

    Moving on.

Dude, you can't base it on your first 5 minutes (I say that because it doesn't take an hour to find your way out of Tokyo). I'm guessing you rolled LED, because that's who runs tokyo, and at that time they could have been raiding some other zone. They are jerks like that.

Truthfully tho, I went to Tokyo once too, and it was pretty barren. There's tons of people everywhere else tho, I'm guessing nobody goes to tokyo anymore because of how the LED treat tourists. I wouldn't know tho, have yet to meet one on their turf.

I hate double posting, but I don't know how to create quote brackets.

Yes, it's a shootfest on certain planets. If you rolled Merc or BoS, you signed up for it. Other planets rarely see the kind of beef that goes down on titan and ceres. As for not being able to do anything while mining/producing - incorrect, you can wander from the device and it keeps going. As long as you don't die or leave the planet, it won't stop. The game is actually really good, and I've already had better group PvP than I've seen in a lot of MMOs. You just need to be at the right places at the right time, and in the right clothes (look innocent, then surprise them or loot the bodies and run).

Okay, I gotta admit some aspects of the game are okay...like the penalties for running around shooting people up.  Though I couldn't figure out how to use the terminal to report a crime and a person with the label of being a notorious criminal was in the midst of about 30 or 40 others and no one made an attempt to apprehend and arrest him was something I wasn't too happy with.

Here's the thing that really turned me off though.

I joined the mining faction, was somewhere...forget the planet or colony...searching the trade terminals.

Suddenly I'm shot and killed, no reason, totally unprovoked, okay...

My faction goes to war with the Brotherhood or something or another and one of the ways to earn credits was to patrol and seek out enemies for a certain period of time. I'm doing that with maybe 10 minutes of game time to complete the mission/quest.

Suddenly I'm surrounded by six members of the police faction, arrested and thrown in jail. My PP or whatever it's called was zero. Why was I arrested? I'm released about two or three seconds afterward and realize I lost all the time spent on my patrol to go towards earning credits and XP if you will. I'm standing outside the cell asking the other guys inside why they were in and all of a sudden, again...two people outside the cell whip out weapons and gank me right inside the prison...what kinda crap is that? Inside a prison? Anyway, at that point I said...That's it....Game over!!

I didn't know about being able to walk away from the mining terminals.

Not my type of game at all...now Wurm on the other hand.

Haven't played in quite some time. Has there been any improvement in graphics and animation?

The colonial mining guild (which is what I believe the person above me joined) allied themselves with the police (LED) and army (FDC) in the ongoing struggle against the Eurocore/Brotherhood alliance in their attempts to overthrow the senate and reinstitute the full factional assembly (so representatives from factions make the laws, instead of the senators.)

During this time, any Brotherhood/Eurocore member will KoS (kill on sight) you on any planet, and vice versa.

Did you have your weapon out when you got arrested?  If not, you were probably dealing with either rogue cops or newbs.  Either way, report it to the internal affairs department.

Normally, factions like the CMG wouldn't get involved in such a conflict, but I think that if the war doesn't end sometime soon, every faction will end up being involved.

No...no weapon was drawn...I don't play any more...that was enough for me. Thanks for the word though.

this game stinks because there is no pve content and like others have stated all you do is run from city to city to do stupid mind less missions, constantly getting attacked for no reason and the shoot outs are boring not even fun.

I played this game for about an hour, I couldn't get into it at all. I'm not saying its a bad game or anything, but I didn't have an ounce of fun for the hour I played so i'll never pick it up again.
