Like most gamers my x-box 360 just got the red rings of death so its no good atm. My question is if I buy an x-box 360 arcade model would I be able to transfer the harddrive from the x-box pro? I know it has less memory and all that but could I be able to play whatever games is on the harddrive on the arcade model?
What do you guys suggest?
I appreciate any help on this
Thanks a lot

I agree... If you've had it less than three years it's still under warranty for Red Ring.

The warranty only lasts for 3 years. First generation 360's will have to pay for repairs or buy a new one.

Wrong. The warrenty extension was retroactive.
I bought an XBox 360 Arcade a year ago and just had to send it in. They fixed it and it didn't cost me a dime.

As far as I know, the warranty extension was for 3 years after the purchase of your 360.
If you bought a 360 a year ago, ofcourse it's free because it's still within the 3 years warranty.

Right, but I also hadn't registered the purchase until it broke. I rarely register what I buy. And seriously, if the console hasn't been registered, by anyone, ever, there's simply no way that Micro$soft can tell when the console was purchased.
So yeah... the OP should be able to get it fixed.

Considering every console has a serial code, I would guess they know when it has been manufactured.
I had the same issue, box was out of warranty.. but.. I called anyhow and they decided to fix it for free. So yea.. give it a shot, at least call.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they know when it's been sold to a user, and that's when the warranty clock starts ticking. A unit can wind up sitting on retailer shelf or in a warehouse somewhere for a long time. If you can register without having to provide evidence of when you bought it, you're cool. Of course, that's why a lot of warranty registration procedures require you to show your receipt, which almost always has the sales date on it.
My suggestion would be to send it in, get if fixed and sell it before it happens again. Its an inherent problem with the system.
Yeah, send it in. I mean, it should only take about 2 - 3 weeks for them to receive and fix what ever needs to be done. My friend's xbox only took 2 weeks after it redringed and he got it done for free.
it's worth a shot.
I sent mine in and then a few months later that pos broke again. went ahead and bought a ps3 and have been happy ever since.
2 Buddies of mine also had theirs break after they had them fixed. From what I understand something like 48% break again after they fix em the 1st time. So dont hold your breath that it is " fixed" when you get it back.
I just painted mine green. No red rings in sight!
Of course it's a giant fking paper weight.
