StarVault is looking to push their servers to the limit in preparations for Mortal Online's Open Beta test phase. To that end, the company will be hosting a stress test event for the game early next week, whereby all interested players will be able to login for about one to two hours. Again, you do not have to be a current beta tester to participate!
The time and date for the test have not been locked down yet, but should be forthcoming early next week.

Woah, that will probably be pretty interesting to watch, play and read about.
Depending on how it turns out, it can create a lot of badmouthing or, why not, more hype.
Great move imo, okay its only a stress test and there will innevitably be monumental whinning on the boards about the lag but they are doing it the right way for me.

Is the game still first-person view only?
i think i feel my self coming down with 24 hour bubonic plague some time next week

The whole point of this is for them to have the servers crash, and crash, and crash. Don't expect to be able to play. They want to crash the servers over and over to get data on what is going wrong so it can be fixed.

for those that wont read any further than this hopefully this doesnt break any odd rules or something but here's a follow up reply on that same thread on the MO forums from Mats Persson that people should keep in mind before all the usual crying and whining and griping and complaining and everything else that goes with such things as this around here.
"We are not announcing this test publicly (except for the forums), and we don't do any marketing for it. It's a crash test and a preparation for the "real" open, free Beta. That doesn't mean the word won't spread, but the best you can do is get a lot of people you know to download the game and get online, and prepare them for hell = crashes, inability to log in, lag, and so on... this is not a test of game play mechanics, or AI, or Extraction/Crafting etc. It's simply a test where our goal is to crash the server, hopefully several times, so that we can see when it crashes and why. For people that haven't tried the game at all but want to see how it looks, this may be a good opportunity. But they shouldn't count on getting in, and if they do, there will probably be lots and lots of lag. And crashes. Still, we need you to help us make a better game!"
The goal of this is to crash the servers.
Please remember that when signing up.
We are doing this test to get a clear picture of the server load, more precisely the distribution between the cluster server and the cluster nodes. Doing simulation-tests is one thing, having real people playing and doing "the usual stuff" is another. We have been working a lot with optimizations and we want to see for instance how an overloaded or crashed node affects the cluster server performance and other nodes. Right now we can only guess the numbers, but we know that a node can handle 2-300 people without unplayable lag (what happens is many clients start to lag due to graphics load). But we don't know what will happen with the cluster server if we fill every node with 2-300 people or more.
This means we are not looking for player feedback, we just want to make sure to get so many players that the server go down so we can make adjustments, and then get it up to crash again.
Signing up, however, will prep you for open beta and you might be able to get a good view of the game prior to the crashes.
This is gonna be a mixed bag...
Kudos to SV for doing this before launch so the expected errors can be corrected, but so many 13 yo kids will still be screaming at downed servers even though its supposed to happen.

I think this is a right move, and I hope people not bitching about the lag and crash.
They gotta know that this is MMO in beta and still they need a lot of testings and fixings, as Stress Test is an essential move !!!
Anyway though, they only got little time and I heard they are releasing this game within few weeks, hopefully is good.
so far I love the graphics, and hopefully the mechanism and everything in together is alright (hopefully not as steep learning curve as Darkfall)
"Dude the game keeps crashing and I don't know why!"
Well when we do we will be sure to let you know.
