Best MMO ever

STO is the best MMO everto be released. Cryptic has way redeamed themselves since they released the Worst MMO ever CO.  This game is totally Startrek. The missions are well balenced between combat and non-combat.  Load times are short but the graphic are pretty laggy. But that is expected in modern MMOs because devs rather make their propriety graphics engine instead of just licenscensinj the Unreal engine.  I havnt seen any bugs and what I have seen the game and all the missions I have done are very much complete. I have only gotten as far as Lui 3rd rank but everything is very solid and very much ready for launch. The only disapointment for me is that I have to wait until I get my taxes back from the feds in Feb to be able to afford to buy the game: I am  also very curious about the higher Lvl content and endgame stuff. This game has soo much potential and im sure that Cryptic will add alot more content and Startrek specific stuff like being able to command from the bridge have a captains quarters, or just even being able to wander you ship a bit like to visit the mess hall or engineering.   All in all a very well thought out and excellently designed game.

I totaly agree with you, STO in my opion as well is worth every pennie! The game is so much fun, so refreshing from the era of Dwarfs elves and orcs feels good to have your own ship, away team and the combat is so much fun, however, the only issue I have right now is, been trying to log into the server for like 30 minutes only to see that the server is busy LOL and to try again later !

I do not Agree. i feel like this rushed out boring game. Space the final SLAM hit another wall. Wait a min I'm in a box... I thought this was space but I'm in a BOX......

Where is my friend he was... WTH.... He is in the wrong instance. Wait instance? So I'm in a box and in a instance... Wait like WoW? NOOO like Guild Wars? Wait how does a space game that is suppose to be space become a boxed instanced game?

    *Confused*

Anyways the game is small it was sad I rather just crack open old Star Trek Game for the pc then spend money on something that does not give any long time enjoyment.

I guess I can understand where you are comming from, but the  " confused " Part really tells me that people like yourself, don't like games with a learning curve?

Granted yes, there is a " sandbox" element, but yea know one thing? EVERY MMO has a sand box element, no matter how you candy coat it, everyone does, there are always afew areas in which you cannot go. Also, maybe you have forgotten something, that this is still a beta and most of the game is still " Closed off " so in order to judge wait till the game is released properly.

there are a lot of things that i really like about it... and a few i don't...like how the views are always changing so fast it makes the space battles harder then they should be....

I'm confused how they ruined Star Treks name. I have no hope for the future of Star Trek period if things like this happen. Learning curve? LOL come play some DFO with me son.

LOL DFO , play 10 + years of EQ with me and we'll talk :P and if ya wanna go into a PVP game, planet side, DAOC which is ten times better then DFO's PVP Experience and both of those games learning curves were harder then DFO :P But as far as that goes, yes, STO has some amazing things and some things that will need to be changed that I agree with, and I still agree that this game has a learning curve for people who never really played a Space mmo before.

Cryptic raised the bar so high that there is no way in hell any developer can make any MMO better than STO.

I agree with you, having played nearly every mmo on the market, this one is a win win!

Sadly enthusiasm won't be enough to push STO into the "best MMO ever" category.

  • ForgeknightForgeknight Member Posts: 35

OP must not be playing the same game as I if he isnt experienceing any bugs. With that said I think the game has some potential, but I thought the same thing about POTBS, a very similar style game as STO. But to say this is the best ever? Not by a long shot. And for those not playing the game, LT 3rd rank (OP states this is where he is in the game) occurs very early into the game. So once more we see a user's thoughts on a game (good or bad) before any logical or well thought out arguement can honestly be established.

Indeed, my eyes started to ache half way through.  But I do enjoy the game, there are plenty of bugs..most minor, some major.  But that's why all involved in beta have that green bug by the clock.  Use it! this is in no way a perfect game, but it is a hell of alot of fun.

Honestly, there has'nrt BEEN a best MMO ever created yet, not by a long shot, and actualy for any video game period, you are gonna see people who love the game, Like myself and others, and you'll get people who can't stand it, it's like that for everything, really.I do believe STO offers ALOT of potential, it's like two MMO's in one and thats great, I think so anyways.

No it means he really doesnt like instancing in space. It has nothing to do with some learning curve.

Oh yea POTBS was a fun game, but it lacked content on a epic scale, the combat was fun though similar to STO but to compare both of those games is'nt logical, ones based on History the other, Sci Fi which has a Huge fan base.

Of course your going to get bugs, it's a Beta, I even got one when getting into my bridge and instead of my character showing up, it was my ship LOL was funny as hell.

One other thing, if he thinks it's the " Best Ever" who cares? Why do you care so much if it is? are you offended by his remark? Thats great that he thinks like and, hell I even love the game. I did the mistake of " Cancling my perorder because of people on this site, till I get my beta and I said, well I'll give it a shot , this will make or break it for me, and luckily it made it for me, and I rushed back to game stop and preordered again. But back to the OP, you think it's the Best MMO ever, thats great! Don't listen to people who care so much about little words and that they get offended so easily! Cheers

Well i really like this game but it is full of bugs (missions not working , items missing ,ect)

I have lvl 8 fed and 9 klingon and i gotta say kinglon are far from ready for launch . Unless cryptic get working hard it aint gonna be ready for lauch date and WTF is there problem with servers they been makeing mmos for a long time now plus they gave out a ton of beta keys they have to have know that the single server wasnt gonna handle all the players.

Saying all that i have great hope for the game and will be ordering me a copy or two asap.

  • kanechartkanechart Member UncommonPosts: 707

The game lacks content. The game will be cool and then 1-2 months later will start to see the true colors and I will post this now so I can bump this 2 months later.

Now its up to them to improve it a lot over the next few months if not there going to lose so many players. I in fact has the AoC feeling all over again. This amazing this great ohh now I played 2 weeks this game is repeating and repeating and omg what happen.

You have got to be kidding.

Even granting this is not a troll post and granting you have any experience at all with MMOs and granting you legitabatmely like the game, I cannot believe you seriously want to slap "Best MMO Eva" on this game, even allowing for hyperbole.

"Excellent?"  "Well-though out?"  Now I know you are foolin'

Learning Curve? I musta missed that part. So did my 8 year old son when he played it last night. Fly your ship from point A to point B. Enter system. Fly around in a small instaced area. Shoot at bad guys. Turn around in circles while firing (button 1,2,3) so they don't keep hitting the same part of the sheilds. Don't worry about aiming...cause you will always hit your target. Once again...where is the learning curve?

Blue text in general is rather hard to make out.  Our blue receptors in our ours aren't very concentrated at the center of our pupil, which makes blue things have less distinct edges.  Red is much, much better.

Thats easy to say My 8 year old son did it easy, ok, I believe you on that one.Every MMO has a  " Learning Curve " no matter how you slice it, everything does, hell even WoW has one. Ever hear the term " Newb" ? Those are people LEARNING the game, thus that is a Learning curve, getting into a game or whatever you do, you can't know everything right off of the bat.
