Still too early to tell, but when bethesda said they had an unnamed MMO in the works, I was hoping for elder scrolls moreso then fallout.. though I'd be happy either way. I hope it doesn't get announced or released until 2012.. I can't deal with a BioWare AND Bethesda MMO in the same year... 2 of my most favorite developers.
Good news, but now I have something to worry about. It says is a "World of Warcraft" type MMO, do this mean its a class based game? is just a cartoon looking game or what?.
I want an elder scrolls mmo but a good one, the same as the elder scrolls series, skill based and with realistic graphics.

Matt Firor, the brains and talent behind DAOC is the president of Zenimax, so whatever MMO they make hopefully will be a great success. If they can do 3 Faction PvP and keep taking again count me in. It just seems logical that they would use the Elder Scrolls IP as the basis for their new MMO since the only thing missing from those games was multiplayer and even without that feature the game was awesome.
What i have found in most sandboxes are discarded toys and cat poop.
IT GONNA LAUNCH FULL OF BUGS, but gonna be an awsome game, if it follow all other bethesda games =p
now: GW2 (11 80s). Dark Souls 2. future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord. "Bro, do your even fractal?" Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Every single mmo launches with bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. Just don't step on em!
But Bethesda bugs aren't small, they are mutated huge bugs who can shoot lasers.
That's why we're so scared.
exactly.
bethesda games - HIGH chance of bugs
mmo launches - HIGH chances of Bugs
now u mix those 2 and a scary uber 10k feet pedobear with lasers and pizza shurikens may apear >.<

Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and Baldur's Gate were not in any means an MMO. But, I understand your point of view being that an MMO in the Elder Scrolls universe with its unique gameplay will prove to be a breath of fresh air in an otherwise "Death Valley" of a genre.

Ops that was a typo, I meant RPG obviously
My point was though, that I don't mind the bugs as long as the game is immersive and compelling and Bethesda can achieve that, since their game are sort of sandbox, compared to Biowares RPGs.
So I believe Bethesda could make the first AAA sandbox MMORPG.

I am torn on a Bethesda MMO. On the surface you have a great company that has been making solid games for a long time. Why wouldn't you want them to make an MMO?
For one, much of Bethesda's success can be attributed the the modding communities surrounding their games. How would this be handled in an MMO, if at all?
They also tend to release games that allow you to "do anything you want". The restrictions you have to place on players in an MMO are much different than what you can do in a single player game.
If they lose the open ended gameplay and player modding, where does that leave their game? It becomes just another generic fantasy title. I hate to admit it but Oblivion, while an amazing game, took a big step in that direction from Morrowind.
So part of me wants Bethesda to focus on producing excellent single player games, as they have been. There are enough MMOs to choose from as it is. But if they can release an Elderscrolls MMO that captures the feel of the previous games, it would be a great day for MMOs.
Good news, but now I have something to worry about. It says is a "World of Warcraft" type MMO, do this mean its a class based game? is just a cartoon looking game or what?.

It doesn't matter what YOU want. They will produce the game they believe will bring in the best ROI.

Hehe. You're right, though. As vocal as this site may be, even if everyone here agreed on all the same things regarding MMOs (which we don't), we'd still be a minority. A very small niche. Until that changes, well, we'll continue to be quite grumpy with the "dumbed down themeparks" of the future.

The worst thing they can do is screw up The Elderscrolls. If they mess that up, they're doomed.
If there's one RPG producer who is very able to make an MMO it would be Bethesda ( even more so than Bioware I think) given the fact both Oblivion and FO 3 were already sandbox-style games . Eagerly waiting for news on this one

I hope they will polish it properly before release.
Most Bethesda games have this reputation of having a lot of annoying bugs.

Just imagine if you could play all these races and traverse all that land.
I wonder if they would add in any new races. And hey on the bright side, at least all the dwarves are dead! Woooo!
Too be honest I would rather it be a Fallout faction-based MMO then Elder Scrolls. There are enough fantasy themed MMOs out there already.

Interesting..now I have another game to fantasise about...
Guild Wars 2 Thief Guide - Elder Scrolls Online Guide
Yes I ve been dreaming of playing The Elder Scroll as a MMORPG since I start playing EQ.
It was about time, the MMO market is the natural arena for this IP
What took you so long Bethesda?

When I played "The Elders Scroll 2" was super bugged, yet is my favourite MMORPG ever together with Baldurs Gate.
Bethesda can create worlds, beautiful and intriguing worlds, and without instances (unlike Bioware) perfect for MMORPGS.
Bring on the bugs but give us The Elder Scroll online.
And my guess is that Bethesda will make the first AAA sandbox MMORPG

Don't hold your breath for a sandbox MMO.
Bethesda doesn't make sandbox games. It makes open-world games. There's a huge difference that you all are missing there...

World of warcraft type game could just be a hint that its a high fantasy game, as opposed to a futuristic shooter mmo.
So that means its going to be most likely an Elder Scrolls MMO. That would be the most logical conclusion to infer from that statement.
Yep, that's the one I'm waiting on.
Godspeed my fellow gamer
