nvidia's fermi to be +$500

-Fermi's A2 yield is only 25%, which puts the chip price at $200+, meaning the card will almost certainly be $500+

    This was expected, yet I wonder if they'll release any "lesser" new-generation cards.
    5770's and 5850's are selling like cakes at the moment, yet they spend so much time focusing on the highest high-end and ignoring the rest.
    I'm aware that Nvidia could sell them for 200$ and survive with no problems(because they are the undisputed leaders in the business market)but that's just anti-competitive.
    Not to mention, most users don't really need that much computing power.

    nVidia has been testing the manufacturing of 40nm for some time by remanufacturing older models on a smaller die size and calling it something like the GTS240.  I think this time around they can get to the midrange parts sooner then half a years time based on the architecture model of the GF100.  All you have to do is take out one of those SP groups and you have a smaller die with similiarly smaller amount of SPs.  Since each SP group on the GF100 architecture has nearly a complete GPU on it its plausible with some editing to the memory controllers.

    Also they could pull an AMD, if they get a die thats dead on x-SPs they just rebrand it as a smaller division card.

    Fermi gonna be an expensive move for nv, they can't compete against ati in prices since the enormous card costs so much more to manufacture.

    I dont doubt the price, but I believe they are on A3 refresh aren't they?

    I would think $499 to $599 for the GF100. Well right now an average prices 5870 is $450 here in Canada and a 5970 close to $700. That is a $250 difference to go dual on 1 card.

    ati must be rubbing their hands together

    intel must be laughing maniacly since intel IS in 32 nm even amd wont catch that anytime soon.

    so intel only thing left for them to do is actually do a 32 nm graphic card or whatever idea they bring

    one thing thing is sure only one company can scare ati lead and it isnt nvidia.
